That's a good idea, thank you! My issue was I got approved a ton all at the same time haha!
Priortize the ones that haven't been published yet and do your best to get them read and reviewed around publication date. That make publishers very happy!

I don't seem to get approved for many requests. I think it's because I'm so new to the game. I only recently joined NetGalley and started reviewing books. I also don't have a huge following on Goodreads. What's the point in reviewing a book if no one is reading them right? So I don't blame the publishers. But, I'm working on acquiring more friends. All in good time. On the plus side, my ratio is 89 percent.

Oh, I misunderstood. I thought you meant you were overloaded with Net Galley books to read and review. Then Chris had it right. Get yourself some Read Now books to read and review and Net Galley will then see you intend to keep up your end of the bargain. Get more friends by reading others' reviews and not only "liking" but commenting as well. This will result in your getting REAL friends who get to know you and will then want to follow your reviews.

I am overrun! I have 29 books to read haha ^.^

Thanks Christine. That's what I've been doing, but yes, it does seem that Stacey is overloaded with NetGalley books. Stacey is going to be at it for a while it seems. Good luck Stacey!! Be sure to share your reviews with us.

That's nothing you could be sitting at #1 on goodreads for the most netgalley.com books to read and trust me I make everyone look good with my total.

Malina, I apologize. I mistakenly took your note for Stacey's. I'm old!!!

So Mike, would you like to make us all feel terrific and tell us your total?

As terrible as that is, Mike, you do not hold the all time record. Someone in the Net Galley group admitted to 200 last year. Don't think that gets you off the hook though, Buddy!!
Christine wrote: "As terrible as that is, Mike, you do not hold the all time record. Someone in the Net Galley group admitted to 200 last year. Don't think that gets you off the hook though, Buddy!!"That makes me feel a little better, but the majority of mine are read nows and have about 10 requests only in that total. Although I am working on them, have a couple of reviews to post yet.

I'm afraid that if I choose too many read now titles, that when I do actually find that title I want and get approved for my ratio will be unmanageable. Is there a strategy you're working on? Lol

I discover the lower like count on covers, the easier it is to get a request. The few requests I do are for a couple of authors, for series were I have read previous books for them.

I've only ever had one request accepted from St Martins - lots of declines including Dead Woman Walking. Think it's mainly because I'm out of area (Aus) but I'll keep on asking!
I was stressing when I had over 10 books on my shelf and now i am down to 4 and don't plan to be requesting any books soon unless Christine, Jan, Janice, Sean to name a rave about a book they just got approved. I am so proud of myself that I have left that green button alone.

I have been working on mine too, and am down to 2. Yay us!!
I like to keep it under 10. Have 8 waiting and a couple requests out there. Anything more than that and I start to feel this is more work than enjoyment.
Stacey wrote: "I don't know how you manage with that many! It's stressing me out with the amount I have haha!"I keep a list, then mark them off in a small notebook, then usually reading two at a time, one on my tablet and another on my phone.
Jan wrote: "I like to keep it under 10. Have 8 waiting and a couple requests out there. I am currently at two after working down from nine. It was a slow go as I would keeping adding one here or there.

There are so many good books out there to read by authors we have been reading for years and authors that we are just discovering. Heading over there now to see what's up (lol jk).

I completely blame this thread and all its participants for indulging my addiction!! 😜

I just got approved for The Drowned Girls
and
Dead of Winter: A Lily Dale Mystery.I am really excited because I really wanted these. Had to wait almost three weeks for the approval on both of them.
LOL

I was declined Fireblood by Elly Blake. It was a bit of a long shot as they preferred US members but I loved the first one so thought it was worth a shot!

Just curious, has anyone ever gotten approved for an out of region request? I have requested a few but never got approved.

That's pretty cool, Chris. I've started Emma in the Night and it's one of those that grab the reader immediately. Stealing moments to get back to it.
