NetGalley Books ... Just Had Approved
Had a wish granted for
Never read any of his stuff before. It came up on my Twitter feed with a link so I wished for it and got an email this morning to confirm it had been granted.
Janet wrote: "Thanks, Kelby. I hope it's good. 🙂Got approval for Karin Slaughter's latest, The Good Daughter."
I put in for that one but was denied :( I love Karin Slaughter!!! I hope you enjoy it and I can't wait to read your review!!
Diane S ☔ wrote: "Also got The Good Daughter, over 500 pages though. yikes!"Di, even though you are USA? Looks like UK only.
Didn't get it from galley, got it from edelweiss, where I am white listed for this publisher. They don't seem to have the same restrictions with some of their books.

Jean wrote: "Robert Dugoni's soon-to-be-released Tracy Crosswhite novel, Close to Home
. Already at 41%."I have been approved for that one, too. I have read the others and am excited to read this one, too!

Me too! Approved in less than an hour, wow!

Me too! Yay I am so excited! I love Sharon Bolton and got approved in less than an hour also.
Also got approved for
Exposed by Lisa Scottoline
Be careful What you wish for. I just got approved for three different books from net galley including Dead Woman Walking. Busy next few days. It's not the reading that holds me up, it's writing the reviews.

All my requests have been declined lately so I guess I'm just going to read and review some of the Read Now titles to build up my profile. I'm new to NetGalley so I don't have much for publishers to go on, and the reviews I have completed don't seem to be getting much visibility. I can see why a publisher wouldn't want to take a chance on me.

I wasn't going to request anything but Lisa is my all time favorite author and I love the characters in the book. So I requested it hoping that I get approved.
Requested Dead Woman Walking too. Has a publish date of September but checking Amazon it was published in April(at least on this side of the water) so not feeling too confident about approval.
Have just had another 2 declined, both by St Martins Press. * sigh* and I have just requested
so I don't like my chances.

Sandy *The world could end while I was reading and I would never notice* wrote: "Have just had another 2 declined, both by St Martins Press. * sigh* and I have just requested

Christine wrote: "Sandy *The world could end while I was reading and I would never notice* wrote: "Have just had another 2 declined, both by St Martins Press. * sigh* and I have just requested [bookcover:Dead Woman ..."Am I the only one that had to Google "capricious"? 🤗
Adrian wrote: "Christine wrote: "Sandy *The world could end while I was reading and I would never notice* wrote: "Have just had another 2 declined, both by St Martins Press. * sigh* and I have just requested [boo..."Haha Adrian! I didn't have to, but I love your honesty. That Chris likes to keep us on our toes, doesn't she? 😅
Lol 😂 I also got declined but St Martin's rarely say yes to out of territory requests. Didn't go onto NetGalley in the UK because I kept checking!! 😉 I don't mind now about rejections. Most books go on offer at some point. When they're meant to come my way.... they do!! 🙂
I've just checked my history with St Martins and apart from Dead Woman Walking, I've requested 3 other titles from them. Two were approved and one rejected. Of the two approved I've yet to read and review one of them(not yet published and only approved in the last month or so).
I don't know why I'm telling you all this and how this will have any baring on whether I get parroted or not but it's a slow night. 😀
I'm off to continue with my current read - Final Girls.

Don't worry about it Adrian. Had it been UK based the chances are you would have gotten it. I've just been looking at my NetGalley shelf and thinking 'damn, I've got more reading to do than I thought!!' :\

Thanks Janet. Yeah it didnt have any region restrictions when I requested it.
No harm I suppose as I have 6 books on my shelf as it is, which is a lot for me.
Having said that I will probably request something else now with the hope of getting approved to make up for it!!

Grats to you Adrian . I hate to say St. Martins is the strangest publisher on how they approve books. The last 3 books I requested were by them and I got denied for 1 reason or another then today I got approved for Exposed by Lisa Scottoline.
Has anyone received auto-approval from a publisher before? I got auto-approved from Red Adept today. That's pretty cool I guess.
Malina Skrobosinski wrote: "Has anyone received auto-approval from a publisher before? I got auto-approved from Red Adept today. That's pretty cool I guess."I've got it from a couple of them. If you get auto-approval from 4 (or more) publishers you get a special badge.
Getting the hard copy of

on my shelf to read.

Oh... well that's pretty cool. I'll have to try to work on that. So far I haven't earned any special badges, but I'm new, so all in good time. Thanks for the info Mike.

You don't have to have a blog. You are what they consider a "Consumer Reviewer" (as am I) so when you sign up that's what you choose.
You will increase your odds of getting approved by also posting reviews on Amazon and/or Barnes and Noble. Also add any information you think might be helpful to getting the publishers to approve you to your profile (if you get alot of comments on your reviews or you've ever been a featured reviewer for one of the groups you belong to - stuff like that).
Also a bit of advice I wish someone would have given me when I first joined "Be patient!" you won't always get an immediate approval but that doesn't mean you won't get approved a little later. I ended up with WAY too many books when I first started because I assumed (wrongly) that if I wasn't approved within 24-hours I probably wasn't going to be... not true. Sometimes it takes a little while.
Good luck!
