I may read it when I finish my current one. I have another sitting in my shelf to read but isn't published until the summer so it can wait.

Presuming you read this already Christine?

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Yes, I did, Adrian. I loved it! I am 33% through the one you recommended for me The Missing Ones (Detective Lottie Parker, #1) by Patricia Gibney . I must thank you for that!!

message 2956: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments I got a weird email from Net Galley. They announced they were approving me for a book I had "wished for" called The Freedom Broker (Thea Paris #1) by K.J. Howe . Well, I have no recall of ever wishing for it, it is not on my tbr shelf, I have no recollection of the blurb, and it's not a book I would normally pick to read. Has that ever happened to any of you guys? I finally figured what the hell and downloaded it just to expand my horizons.

Hey Christine. That's how I got Shadow Man. Got the message saying my wish was granted. For the life of me, I can't remember ever seeing this book before let alone requesting it (might have to cut down on the apres-dinner wine ;)

message 2986: by Maureen (new)

Maureen Carden | 363 comments I'm new to Netgalley. So I'm sure I will have a few questions. But here is one that doesn't concern me. Are our bios actually read and do they have any influence on receiving requested books? Again, not about me.

I'm not supposed to requesting anymore, but what can I do when they keep sending me these emails of all these great books. I have one publisher who sends me an email once a month and if I click on the link to a book I'm interested in, it is automatically on my shelf.

I think so. Sometimes I get declined emails that say they needed to know more about where I post and stuff like that. I try to update mine at least once a year.

From what I have heard, they are only interested in what type of a reviewer you are. For example they look for website/blog links on your page first and foremost.

message 2990: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Seems many of the publishers don't care if you have a blog or not. I don't have a blog yet get most of my requests approved. If I do get turned down, then hey, they just gave up the chance to have a well thought out review posted for their book, and I move on to my next book.

Agree. I should have added that first. Meant to say if they do look, all they are looking for is if there is a blog link, like the publisher for Chevy Stevens

message 2999: by Maureen (new)

Maureen Carden | 363 comments Just finished it!.
BTW, how long does one have to read and review? I keep having NG books disappear from either my shelf or my Kindle. I'm talking only three days on some books. To read and review. But I have a few other books I need to read, so it might be a week before I get to the NG books. Is that too long?

message 3000: by Adrian (new)

Adrian Dooley (adox66) | 246 comments I've never had a netgalley book disappear from my Kindle? They are yours to keep.
