I like to read series in order if possible. I'll never live long enough to read my TBR list as they keep coming out with new books every week and then I discover older books, etc. Oh well, I already told my husband I wanted to be buried with a book in my hands. True. lol
Happy days. Sounds like a good plan. I think I may have to say the same to my husband - we moved recently and he said, 'We don't need all these books.' You can only imagine my horror! Needless to say, we kept all the books :-) Happy reading. Nikki x
PS There are reading guides to both books on my weskit if that's ever of any help. :-)

I've been fiending for thrillers lately. Might just take you up on that Nikki.... after I make myself write up pending reviews.
Paula wrote: "Nikki wrote: "Ah, it's a 1,000 followers mark for them. That's interesting. Pay attention to the count of likes for book covers when you request them. I've had two books that had a low like count on the cover were I didn't meet the publishers requirements and they still approved me. Plus Indie authors are the easy ones to request and for me Read Now's been a gold mine for me.
Good point about the covers. I think I subconsciously noted that but I had figured out that requesting from small houses rarely got a denial. In fact, I've been contacted directly by a couple houses and authors after writing my review. Positive contacts. I know people have had less than pleasant exchanges but knock on wood, so far I've not.
I have been auto approved for all JJP Books, today, but this does not come up with my other two publishers, and have not heard of them. E-mailed Net Galley ?
Also Approved for a biography book

Me too, Sean. It's Jack Jordan's indie publishing name.
Sean, Christine I also received an email today for automatic approval for all JJP Books, and checked on NetGalley and not listed? Wondered if it was for him. Thanks Christine for letting us know that this is his Indie publishing name. So will this appear under NetGalley?
Good to know :-)

Hi! Thanks for that - so interesting the different reasons why - or in some cases, no specific reasons at all. All great feedback as it's really important to get the books in the hands of reviewers. Hope all your reading going well! Nikki x

Yes, I have. I don't request that much generally, but Orion is the only one that springs to mind that hasn't said yes.
You come across a lot of people I'm sure on social media and our paths have crossed on Twitter. Nice to see you here! :) Cara is great to me and sends out information and lists of books available for request. That's when I came across this one but didn't realise it was a trilogy. Isn't The Spider In The Corner Of The Room book one? Or have I got that one wrong?

Hi! Cara is awesome, isn't she. So on the case. And yep - The Spider in the Corner of the Room is now renamed Subject 375 in the UK. It's the first in the Project trilogy, with The Killing Files being number 2 (and out tomorrow. Holy cow!) Nikki x

Even tho some publishers are UK only, I will still send in a request for those books I really want, just in case....I tried for Dear Amy and was declined as I expected because of location. But then I just got an email from them with an invite for a free download/invitation to read. Woot woot! Sometimes you just never know...
I quit doing that, Jan, as I recall one letter saying they look at approval/not approved ratios. Maybe I need to consider as there are some UK books that I'm dying for.

I think JJP Is Jack Johnson Publishing. I got quickly approved for both of his books through that publisher, but not listed on the browse publishers list.
Christine wrote: "I quit doing that, Jan, as I recall one letter saying they look at approval/not approved ratios. I say go for it on those that you really want. I don't do it for every UK book, just those that I have seen good reviews for, etc. :)
That's a cracking book!

Go for it! The more I read about acceptance of review copies, the more confused I am! Do, please, request and see what happens. Cara at HQ Mira is lovely. Any probs, give me a holler. :-) PS Nice to meet you!

That happened for me on a different thriller! ! Ooh... I hope I get an invite for Dear Amy too.
They might have just secured US publishing rights as was the case for my invite.

Ha I didn't even read why they sent me the invite so I just looked. Here's what it says:
We noticed that you have loved and reviewed our thrillers on NetGalley in the past…so we couldn't resist sharing Helen Callagahan’s incredible psychological thriller Dear Amy with you.
I'm good with that reason :)

Evicted is good Stephanie. It is a real eye opener. You will like it. Great haul BTW.
I was kindly approved for Nomad--which was a UK only offering. I was originally declined, but I wrote them yesterday morning and was instantly approved with a very nice note from Emily at Bonnier. It's a heart-racing thriller of an MI6 "bloke in the truck" aka a geek for a rapid-response terror response team.Nomad
It starts out with a *blast* and it doesn't stop. Just released yesterday.

Just got 2 off my list (sort of - 1 review to publish) but 2 new on.
'Threat' by Hugh Fraser and
'Dear Amy' by Helen Callaghan. Also now on autoapproval for Urbane. My first. I feel special :)
Weird one happening here. So I got approved earlier for My Husbands Son as previously posted. I get home and go on to NetGalley, find the book and hit the download to Kindle button, which it says it has, yet here I am an hour later and it still hasn't shown up. Can some title take a long time to arrive?? Any other titles arrived instantaneously.
Thanks Janet. Yeah I've tried a few times but it's not happening. Checked my Amazon account under docs and it's not even arriving there. I've sent Netgalley an email about it so will wait and see what they say. Could be next week before I hear from them though as they don't work weekends.
There's two options for downloads. A straight PDF to device I'm on(iPad) or PDF to kindle. I can download a PDF to the iPad but it's tiny(a little over 1kb) and doesn't contain anything apart from a page of f ran down text. When I click on the kindle link it doesn't look like anything is happening. I don't get the blue " loading up next page" on my iPad. It just stays the same and then the page says it's been sent to my kindle. Checking my Amazon account it's not arriving there so obviously the link isn't pushing it out for some reason. Tried on my Mac as well but no joy.
My current read I expect to finish tomorrow so would have been nice timing!
Big of a a weird one.
Apologies for the long post on this. Hope it's not clogging up the thread too much. Will post an update if and ŵhen I get it resolved.
