Megalion Nice Daisy!!

I'm dearly hoping for League of Dragons (Temeraire, #9) by Naomi Novik myself.

And The Terranauts A Novel by T.C. Boyle just showed up on Edelweiss!

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 1127 comments That's great, Daisy. Well done, really pleased for you. Great to know that reviewers get some recognition.

message 2307: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Daisy or anyone, are there any major differences between Net Galley and Edelweiss? Is the latter based in Europe somewhere?

message 2308: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments You're so lucky, Jean! I really want to read that one!

message 2309: by Jean (new)

Jean | 2382 comments Well, after Sandy's wonderful review, I just had to try!

message 2310: by Diane S ☔ (new)

Diane S ☔ | 2077 comments Edelweiss is not as easy to use as Netgalley but other than that you just request the same and not as much pressure to review. No badges or anything. Try it Christine. Jhttp://edelweiss.abovethetreeline.com...

message 2311: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Thank you, Diane. I will go take a look. (-:

Only real difference is that Edelweiss is not so userfriendly to browse.

Sandra (sandracheng) | 12 comments Got approved for and immediately started reading The Wacky Man The Wacky Man by Lyn G. Farrell

Sandysbookaday (taking a midwinter break) (sandyj21) | 5101 comments After being declined for the first two Robert Dugoni books I requested, I have been approved for In the Clearing In the Clearing (Tracy Crosswhite, #3) by Robert Dugoni

Congratulations Jean! Hope you love The Ballroom as much as I did. *:D

message 2315: by Megalion (new)

Megalion Nice Sandy!!

And lol Sandra, I'm reading it too now. Kinda disappointed so far at 30%. Hope it gets better and doesnt end up like She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb. Needless to say I despised it.

Had an e-mail message today, which sent me a link to Net Galley.

As instantly approved for Clare Mackintosh's new book.

I See You

Not available on NetGalley yet. They must be just sending widgets out for now. Unless I can't find it!!

Sean, that is awesome! Congrats!

message 2321: by Pamela (new)

Pamela | 19 comments I know this is for books that are approved. but I didnt get approved for three today. Oh well.... better luck next time as they say. some were even for my country.

We all get turned down occasionally, Pamela. All part of the Netgalley experience! :)

message 2323: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Pamela, I requested 3 books on the same day last year and was ultimately rejected for all 3. I didn't request anything for a couple months after that, but now I get many more approvals than rejections. I did get rejected for Mary Kubica's Don't You Cry though this week.

message 2325: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (sandracheng) | 12 comments Congratulations on Clare Mackintosh' Sean!

Pamela wrote: "I know this is for books that are approved. but I didnt get approved for three today. Oh well.... better luck next time as they say. some were even for my country."

Although I have more approvals these days, I think a little more than a third of my requests is rejected!

Megalion wrote: "And lol Sandra, I'm reading it too now. Kinda disappointed so far at 30%. Hope it gets better and doesnt end up like She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb. Needless to say I despised it."

The Wacky Man is sort of okay. Not mindblowing just yet!

message 2326: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 313 comments @megalion and @David, thank you so much. I'm sorry it took awhile to reply.

@Christine, I'm late replying to you, also, but I agree with the others. The biggest difference I see between Edelweiss and Netgalley is Edelweiss is not as user friendly. I have only been a member for a couple of weeks and I get confused with the way it is set up. I think I click on several tabs everytime just to find the one I want.

I have been approved on there for books Netgalley declined.

@Sean, congrats on the Clare Mackintosh book! I have not read I Let You Go, but as soon as I can get it, I will.

Hi Pamela, no I actually got rejected for Don't You Cry. I'll have to get in line at the library!

message 2331: by Sandra (last edited May 21, 2016 09:24AM) (new)

Sandra (sandracheng) | 12 comments Being rejected opens up spots for other good books, so we can request more :)

Christine, have you registered with Edelweiss yet?

message 2332: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments You are absolutely right, Sandra. And no, I have not investigated Edelweiss as for some reason I thought it was not for people in the US. Do they have much that Net Galley doesn't? Perhaps I should take a peek.

message 2333: by HornFan2 (new)

HornFan2 (hornfan2) | 235 comments Got an invite from Penguin, pre-approved for John Gilstrap's latest 'Friendly Fire' and also got approved for Ace Atkin's latest in the Quinn Colson series, 'The Innocent'.

Megalion EDELWEISS....

There's a group for them and the bunch of us that do both sites have figured out many of the mysteries of EW. Recommend joining it to find your answers. Or ask questions if you don't.

Reasons to give EW a try:
1) many books are often posted on both. Usually appears on EW first. This gives you an extra try at getting approved.
2) no feedback ratio. Therefore no overt pressure.
3) Approval odds are MUCH higher. **
4) Plenty of books on the more outlier edges posted as well that never make it to NG.

** I've requested over 100 titles. Have only been rejected for 14... most of which occurred in first 2 weeks.

Jen | 48 comments Ah. And another one

The Kept Woman (Will Trent, #8) by Karin Slaughter . Definitely need to get reading - 11 on the list now and feedback ratio lower than a whores drawers. ;-)

And also Cut To The Bone by Alex Caan .

I am beginning to wonder if the magic key hasn't been adding the word blogger to my profile... I only set it up last night.

I'm curious about that one. Didn't request though. Attempting another moratorium on requesting.
