Yes, Sean, I read and loved the three books that precede Play Dead.

Finished

Around that read, I've read

So Reapers tomorrow then! Assuming I can stay on track and not randomly skip around again.

The latest book I'm tackling is due for a review . . . last November. Not my fault. They just put it on NG, so must need some reviews. It's really WEIRD. It's written like a normal first person story, but the oddest things keep happening. It's got a lot of people with halitosis, and um, Jewish vampires.
A Most Malignant Spirit

Actually your books sounds interesting but tell me how can you tell what type of vampire they are!!!!

and was it from Grove/Atlantic? Requesting one of their new titles today finally got 2 old ones kicked free and approved as well.

Can't wait to see what you think, Jean. I might like this one.

Megalion, I draw the line at zombies and vampires. They are ALL yours, lol!!

Thanks Jean. Looking forward to reading it.

Oh poo... some aren't even really vampire. At least two series are interpretations of Christian mythology around Jesus/angels/God's soldiers. One trilogy has nothing to do with blood drinking so kinda not fair to even call them vampires. But ok....

Yeah, what Christine said. I really like Dugong, too. And I just love Tracy Crosswhite.

Don't know, Christine. Maybe it has just been released in the states?

I don't know either, but I've seen several that apparently are being re-released as "updated" versions well after the fact. Maybe they didn't do all that well on the first go-round, or maybe there was no ebook option at that time.

Hi Monnie-As long as you have downloaded them before they archive you can read/rate them at your leisure. Keep in mind the reason for the ARC's is to create some 'buzz' as close to the publish date as possible, so I do always try to get my reviews done prior to that date. And not sure what you mean about handling requests-if you are referring to requests you send to a publisher, I don't think there is anyone in here who hasn't received a bunch of rejections! If you are referring to those that publishers or authors send to you, absolutely accept or decline as you see fit. I have received offers to read many books outside my genre, and I know I could never do the author justice if I tried to read and review. I stick to what I know will hold my interest. :)

In the Shadow of David

I did see some mention of a motion picture and possible sequel in the inflammatory notes, er introductory notes, so I'm thinking maybe they want to make a bigger splash.

Just go with what work for you, which it sounds like you are doing! No rules to it which makes it that much more addicting to me! ;-)

Wow - really? I've got 2 (I didn't even know they existed but I found the list of books I've reviewed and the icons are there). Anyway, super cool!

LOL!

Monnie,
That little Jan is full of good advice and priceless information.

Monnie, I have quite a few books on NetGalley 28. I got into a reading slump and have fallen way behind, but they are still accepting my reviews.

Good to know. I hit a string of books by favorite authors (Baldacci, Sandford, etc.) and let the freebies slide. Now, the 8 on my shelf seem overwhelming. Oh well, I'll start plowing through - started one this morning, in fact. I'm pretty sure the publishers will accept the reviews just about any time - I was mostly concerned that they'd stop offering/approving books if I failed to make a timely turnaround.

Cambo!!! Heard you are doing a buddy read with Christine, would have joined but in the process of moving. Miss you buddy! XO

No need to worry about that Monnie. This is a big network...if you want to read them, they will keep on sending them!

YAY!"
Congratulations!! Have you seen Amazon's "read and review" lists? The free-for-review option also is showing up in free/low-cost books lists like BookBub. Methinks they want to get in on the action. Interesting!

Now that I look more closely, the Amazon thing seems to be nothing more than that the Goodreads Giveaway program now includes instant download of ebooks from Amazon (not surprising since Amazon owns Goodreads, of course). I got that in an email from Goodreads a day or so ago and apparently misunderstood. NetGalley still gets my vote.
