Megalion Nearly done with Medea's Curse Medea's Curse by Anne Buist
Solid 4 stars. Maybe even 4.5 stars.

message 2203: by Zippergirl (new)

Zippergirl | 86 comments Megalion: I think DeLillo can go either way with readers. Either he's lyrical or he talks too much.

It was beautiful and thoughtful, but all inner dialog, which doesn't mean nothing happens, it's just that you see it through the eyes of the narrator. And he does have some quirky things going on. ;)

Really enjoyed it so hope you can get it. After reading the short last month I knew it would be a good one and I wasn't disappointed at all.

Back down to eight to read now. Or it could still be 9. I'm confused lol

message 2218: by Megalion (new)

Megalion Yep, denied for Hanging Club.... but I notice it's from Random House UK so maybe that's why?

Was just approved for this one, too, Christine. They hold you in the highest regard at Bookouture! Thanks for all your book recommendations from them. You are always spot on!

message 2229: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Thanks, Linda. I can't wait to get to these. My new strategy is to only request books that I already know I really want to read. Not taking a lot of chances.

Linda | 13 comments Christine wrote: "Thanks, Linda. I can't wait to get to these. My new strategy is to only request books that I already know I really want to read. Not taking a lot of chances."

I absolutely agree! There's always a chance of getting a dud once in a while, but some individuals request a book they know they have no interest in and then give it a bad review. Not fair to author. I've lessened my requests and, as you've mentioned, read the ones that I'll go into with much enthusiasm. Works for me and works for the author! Ha!

message 2231: by Megalion (new)

Megalion Wow, I really hope they are far and few in between.

Even if I accidently notice poor reviews in advance, I start out with best intentions to LIKE the book.

message 2232: by Zippergirl (last edited May 01, 2016 10:01AM) (new)
