Keeping notes on publishing dates is a good idea that I am probably going to have to start doing because I have a problem with remembering to post reviews to Amazon, since Amazon doesn't allow you to post reviews until the book has been officially released. Some of the NG books that I've read have been as far as 6 months ahead. I've had several that I forgot post reviews for.

Janet wrote: "Though publishers would prefer reviews before the publishing date, it's not imperative, so don't put pressure on yourselves. Authors want to sell books consistently not just around publishing dates..."Thanks Janet for that. I do stress out about meeting the dates. And I don't request books that I know I can't meet the date even though I would love to review the book.
I put the release dates in my phone along with a track of books I have on preorder. If any of the publishers have a dated review policy I.e. Not earlier than four weeks before, I make a note of it here so I know when I can post to Good Reads. Also helps me prioritise the list of to be read.Makes me sound quite organised as I've only been reviewing for a couple of months but in truth I have a brain like a sieve so it's the only way I remember lol.
No worries. Reviews sell books all the time. Just because you don't necessarily see a reaction to your review doesn't mean you haven't generated sales - so chill your beans, keep your requests manageable and most importantly don't let it become a chore. Enjoy it for what it is... you're getting early access to some great books and helping authors. :)
Win win...... hopefully!!

I keep on promising to keep a spreadsheet on publishing dates for Amazon reviews, need to do it it pronto
Christine wrote: "Wonder why they approve Canada, but not the US?"That's strange. I really want this one badly, Christine. It says only UK. Maybe I should move to Canada for the time being. Ha!

Daisy in Chains"
That's one huge bummer, Sean! )-:

I requested it but it isnt saying its available for Canada either.
I have a question tho regarding NetGalley, if you have been approved for a book, but it has gone to archive before u even read it, is there a way you can read it again from there? I once forgot to put one on my e reader and never got a chance at all to read it...opps
If you haven't downloaded it by the archive date, Pamela, you are out of luck. That's why I immediately download my book the minute I am approved. Then I don't forget and lose it.
Amazon has a Spring sale that's worth checking out. I've just bought The Cry by Helen Fitzgerald for 99p.

Whoop whoop, Approval for Play Dead by Angela Marsons and Daisy in Chains. I am a happy, if somewhat inundated with books to read, bunny.
Jenna wrote: "Whoop whoop, Approval for Play Dead by Angela Marsons and Daisy in Chains. I am a happy, if somewhat inundated with books to read, bunny."Ohhh thanks for the heads up on Angela's release! (running to NG!!)

Cannot find Angela Marsons new book here on Net Galley, although I have had three of her previous books from Net Galley
Sean wrote: "Cannot find Angela Marsons new book here on Net Galley, although I have had three of her previous books from Net Galley"It's there, Sean. Look under both Play Dead and her name. I found it under the title.

I just found it as Christine said I typed Play Dead by Angela Marsons under search Titles. I requested it!
Would be tempted to request the Angela Marsons novel but have only read the first instalment so far, so have some catching up to do. About 40% through my first NetGalley book - All Is Not Forgotten. Enjoying it so far.
Requested "Tastes Like Fear" on April 5th and it's still pending!
Adrian wrote: "Would be tempted to request the Angela Marsons novel but have only read the first instalment so far, so have some catching up to do. About 40% through my first NetGalley book - All Is Not Forgott..."
8 days is nothing, Adrian. I waited over 4 months for a Linwood Barclay book!
Sue wrote: "Christine wrote: "Yay, Sue!"Just received approval, Christine! I'm so happy!"
Double yay, Sue!
Diane Lynch wrote: "Rejection, rejection."Diane, grab a couple of READ NOW books to get some Net Galley reviews under your belt. That will help.
Diane Lynch wrote: "Rejection, rejection."This might have already been discussed, but make sure you have your profile filled out as much as possible. Outside of adding your goodreads account, if you don't have a blog, add your Amazon account for review postings as well. We all started where you are right now, and it gets easier!
Thank you everyone for helping me get started with NetGalley. I appreciate any and all advice. I have grabbed 2 read bows.
Adrian, there's a good chance you'd get Play Dead, Angela Marsons' book so I'd go for it. You've nothing to lose! :)
I requested it earlier today and was approved late evening. The publisher must have been working late.

Diane, try Bookouture too. They're pretty good as they want their authors to have an audience and really push hard on marketing so you'll likely get a yes no matter how many reviews you've done. To here are some good titles across a variety of genres with them.
