Oh, it is, DA!!

message 152: by DianeAlice (new)

DianeAlice | 142 comments O good! It's a stand alone isn't it? I'm not jumping into the middle of a series am I eek?!

message 153: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Lynn, in your reviews, you do not have to recapitulate the story. I never do. The key is to make sure you state what you liked, what you didn't like, your overall impression of the book, and what type of reader you would recommend the book to.

message 154: by DianeAlice (new)

DianeAlice | 142 comments Chris, and other reviewers, do you make notes as you go along to remind yourself of points you want to make in your reviews? This is why I find it so hard to do a proper review, I worry I'll forget things about the book and just end up with 'I liked/didn't like the book and not much else which obviously isn't helpful to anyone.

message 155: by DianeAlice (new)

DianeAlice | 142 comments Maybe I over think it.

message 156: by Sue (new)

Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments I always make notes for every book I read. Makes it easier for me, when I go to write my review.

message 157: by DianeAlice (new)

DianeAlice | 142 comments Thanks Sue, I was thinking that would be the easiest way to do it. Perhaps I'll jot a note after each chapter then do my review from the main points.

message 158: by Sue (new)

Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments That is exactly what I do.

Very rarely, DA. I always wait a day after I finish a book to write the review. Let's it sift around in my head--really helps bring it together.

My latest approval is No Other Darkness No Other Darkness by Sarah Hilary

Sarah's first book was Someone Else's Skin Someone Else's Skin by Sarah Hilary

A newish author I highly recommend - her books have been picked up by a tv production company, may come to fruition, may not, but I think you'd enjoy the books. The makings of a good series in my opionion. Really glad I got book two. It's the kind of stuff we enjoy and read. May well be a Q&A contender too - if you read her books!

That's true, but you have to be selective. I now have 3 books in total to read from Netgalley. I also won 2 books last night in Goodreads Giveaway Contest.

Yes, that book looked good but depressing.

message 185: by [deleted user] (new)

I know what you mean Sue. It is a sad and scary book. But I thought the characters really made that book. I like reading books like that sometimes. Makes me appreciative of what I take for granted.
