I have recently been approved for an upcoming book by one of my favorite authors, Breakdown: An Alex Delaware Novel by Jonathon Kellerman, The Man Who Built the Sierra Club: A Life of David Brower by Robert Wyss, and Tears in the Grass by Lynda A. Archer. I love back-to-nature books, as if you did not notice.
The Girl In The Ice by Robert Bryndza has been posted on NetGalley today by Bookouture . . . I've been and got myself a copy :)

Yes, http://wp.me/p4RVxD-YC
Jan, no hemming or hawing for me. I really want to read this one. Bookouture is small and very picky about who they take on (e.g. Angela Marsons). This is enough for me, plus the blurb, to jump. My only decision is whether to jump now via Net Galley and get myself another deadline to squeeze in and amongst the others or preorder for 99 cents. Hmmmm...TBD.

I'm down to 9 NG books with a couple of others pending (a new H Coben book just came out!) sp that's the reason for the hemming and hawing lol
Christine wrote: "BTW, I just got my 80% badge back too and also have 9 to go!"Woot Woot! I'm going to finish the book I'm reading now, then request it I think. Get it through NG, we can buddy up?
I'd love to if it works out. Kinda having a lot of life stuff going on at the moment. Are you gonna read it next?
I've seen the book around but as I've now got my badge I want to be careful about what I request on NetGalley. A 99p pre order is a very good price for a book at any stretch.
Anyway my new mantra is I will not be swayed by ALL the new books - but man it's hard!! ;-)
Let us know Elaine what you think. :)

Just read a few more books and you can have even more on your tbr shelves . . . . My feedback ratio is 92% - and I've more than 60 books on my shelf tbr. Having said that, I'm working on getting the pile down much lower . I did get it down to 30 about a month ago but then had lots of pending requests approved and lots of invitations I didn't want to refuse . . . . oh the temptations!!!!Jan, please don't blame me if you don't like it - I haven't read any of it yet!

Have managed to not request anything lately. Feeling good about it but it is so tempting. Still have over fifty to read.

It's a good New Year's resolution to have-let's see if it works out better than dieting! LOL
Christine wrote: "I'd love to if it works out. Kinda having a lot of life stuff going on at the moment. Are you gonna read it next?"That's ok-I think we will find a better buddy read out there, like I Am Pilgrim!! I'm hoping you can fit that in maybe in February!

Aiming for that, Jan. Hope I can struggle thru it. I am so on the fence!!!!
I've had my 80% badge for several months and was determined to keep it.... However January is killing me and I just can't stop requesting. LOL I've now got 21 on my shelf with 83% (almost done with one though) and I've got another 21 pending.... oops.

It won't be a struggle, I promise! :)

Me I being really good it is January 8th and I have pressed that green button just once for Jonathan Kellerman's book. I did get it approved. Can someone tell me what the invitations are on Net Galley.
Don't feel rushed about the I Am Pilgrim if you ladies need more time. I just thought I'd mention it that day and would be a good way for us all to connect. I'll be good whenever you lovely people are good to go. I'm going on a trip in early to mid February and I can either bring it with me if I request it early or leave it to read late February if need be...either way works for me. Don't feel rushed though if you have personal or other important things on the go, Christine! I'll be here whenever and I'm sure Jan and E. will be too! :))))
Chris wrote: "...Can someone tell me what the invitations are on Net Galley. ..."Some publishers/authors send an email inviting the recipient to read a specific book. The invitation usually includes a NetGalley widget or link which, when the recipient clicks on it, automatically adds the book to that person's shelf and enables then to access and download the book in whatever format they like. Our NetGalley profiles used to show how many invitations we'd accepted but it doesn't show anywhere now that I can find. I really like the ones who have sent me an invitation to read the 'next in the series' books. Some books that you may be invited to read aren't available for general request and don't show to other NetGalley users . . . Hope that helps.

Christine wrote: "Elaine, you have 92% feedback ratio with over 60 unreviewed? Holy Cow! ..."I've given feedback on 762 books so far (with 2 more reviews still to post), I have admitted repeatedly to having taken early retirement and being a bookaholic so I now have time to read as well as live!
I'd be happy to buddy up reading 'The Girl in the Ice' either towards the end of this month or the beginning of Feb is that's any good to any of you?

Great answer! I noticed the invitations sent was no longer showing up as well...I wonder why they got rid of it. I lost out on an acceptance from a publisher when they changed the whole format around, but once I went in and redid my profile it's been fine since.

I've no idea why they got rid of it - personally, I like it keeping count for me. I don't like the new profile as much the options seem too limiting. Glad you sorted out and its been fine since.
Hang on, are you lot buddying up to read I Am Pilgrim and the The Girl On Ice or whatever it's called? And you didn't tell me?!!! Wounded I am..... wounded!!! ;-)
I actually want to read I Am Pilgrim and maybe the other so I'll be in...... if allowed! :-P

I've been pushing Christine to read it and others have joined in, so the more the merrier! It's an amazing read-top 5 of my 2015 reads. I'll join in the read as a moderator and put my two cents in when its relevant. Christine is thinking like I did, that it wouldn't hold my interest, but it is a page turner!

I'm volunteering to buddy up for 'The Girl on the Ice' - I haven't heard of the other one (and do have 60+ on my tbr pile!). This book was only put up for requests this afternoon so you may well be able to get a copy from Bookouture!
Yeah, I don't mind. My Netgalley tbr pile is down to 5!! Woo hoo! I won't be get approval before Monday Tuesday then we can take from there.

Amy, I'm still in!! We will get a time. I am in flux at the moment due to some life stuff out of my control (my aunt is in later stage of dying, I am her guardian and essentially her only relative so my priorities are there for now; fortunately, she is in nursing home here in town) plus I am tentatively set for few days trip to Florida later this month. Need to get thru those things before committing myself to our buddy reads. You guys can go ahead if you like, but I will be getting to I Am Pilgrim and the Girl in the Ice sooner rather than later in the next couple months. And yes, Janet, I would love for you and Elaine to join in on both or either books if OK with Amy, E and Jan and whoever else is interested in jumping in.

I will be requesting it in the next 24 hours, so I might be able to buddy up on this-let me know when you are thinking!

Thanks, buddy. I folded and requested the Girl in the Ice book so I could be ready if this works out.
You guys are astonishing! I have 10 books in my TBR and I'm freaking out because that has been an out of the ordinary week - first one back from two week's break, I'm feeling tired all the time.
Sorry to hear your tired, Vera. Rest easy when you can.
Christine, no pressure. Do what you have to do. None of this is going anywhere. Just say when peeps and hopefully we can hook up when it suits us all. :)

Vera, remember, we are doing this for FUN! Pace yourself, kiddo. They will be waiting for you when you are ready.
So sorry about your aunt, Christine - but I'm glad you've folded and requested it! I'm certainly not pressurising us to read it immediately - I've too many to read with January release dates at the moment. Someone just message me, please, when we're ready to buddy up and I'll join in with the Girl in the Ice book :)Vera, take care of yourself, hope things calm down at work so you can work to live rather than live to work - and so have more time for fun, including relaxing and reading!
