I didn't even hit NG today because I got slammed with work. That was a choice I made on one of my days. The only reason I requested it was because it reminds me of my aunt's small coal mining town.

Go to Netgalley.com register, fill out a short profile and start requesting books. There are ready to read books and galleys that aren't published yet. Good luck with the choices. FYI that green button can be dangerous as you can see by the posts here.

Neither have I. I watched the Flowers in the Attic series on Lifetime earlier this year and I want to go back and read the books.

Gosh I haven't looked at those in years. Read the first three or four as a teenager way back when!

Diane ,

many here will explain how this works, but be careful it's addictive.

Once you join www.netgalley.com, pop in here and one of us will explain more.

But as explained by Chris, it is that simple, just request books you want to read, and see how many you get approved, well and denied.

If you were a reader in your teens, VC Andrews is a name that will stay with you, just like Judy Blume. Brings back a flood of memories, like an old song. I may have to take a peek at Andrews new book for kicks!

Chris | 267 comments Janet wrote: "Gosh I haven't looked at those in years. Read the first three or four as a teenager way back when!"

Sage's Eyes is the first book of a new series. Your age is showing Janet that is why I said "like in years" lol.

Mochaspresso | 19 comments VC Andrews is a major blast from the past, but isn't she dead? Is this an old book that was never published?

Carrie (boombaby13) | 23 comments Mochaspresso wrote: "VC Andrews is a major blast from the past, but isn't she dead? Is this an old book that was never published?"

She actually passed away back in the 80s I believe but the family hired a ghostwriter to finish her stories and continue to release books based on her work under her name.

Hey all I know is that it is about a girl that is raised some relative and if it is anything like Flowers it won't be pretty. I pressed the green button on a whim and publication date is January, 2016.

Janet | 5302 comments Mod
Hahahaha! Not far off, Chris!

message 1428: by Jean (new)

Jean | 2382 comments V.C. Andrews! Gosh! I read those Flowers in the Attic books SO many years ago. I was really into them too, but now that I think about them, they sort of give me the creeps. I looked up her bio - she was born in 1923 and died in 1986. Blast from the past, for sure!

Every time I think of V.C. Andrews I also think of John Saul. They were the authors for the creepy books. Not like today when the big genre is vampires and zombies.

Lorrea - WhatChaReadin'? (whatchatreadin) I can't get into vampires and zombies...I like my stuff to be at least plausible....no offense to those to love vampires and zombies

Every time I see the Twilight movies on my channel guide, I put my hand on my forehead as if I'm about to faint(Dramatically) and say, "I'm in love with a werewolf and a vampire, whatever shall I do??"

message 1432: by Janet , Moderator (new)

Janet | 5302 comments Mod
Lol! Know what you mean. It's stuff I usually avoid.

message 1433: by Chris (new)

Chris | 267 comments I personally would read a zombie and/or vampire book over a romance book.

message 1434: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Ooh boy, Chris. Nothing ranks lower than zombies and vampires in my mind. Even dystopia is higher.

Not sure if still on NetGalley. I got approval a couple of days ago. Book looks interesting.

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments I looked it up--not available to Americans. A lot of the reviews talk about a gobsmacking ending!

I better get to it soon then! :-D

message 1441: by Kerry (new)

Kerry Hunter (kerryelizabeth) I've been away for a little while so haven't updated what I've been getting. This list is going to be a bit long because of that lol. SO! Onto the list of all the approvals since my last post:

Hidden Bodies by Caroline Kepnes (the sequel to You, which I'm LOVING)
Perfect Days by Raphael Montes
Ugly by Margaret McHeyzer
Our Endless Numbered Days by Claire Fuller
After She's Gone by Lisa Jackson

Got declined for Find Her by Lisa Gardener because I'm not in America which I'm sad about, but eh, it was a long shot since I'm a lil English chicken.

Kerry Hunter (kerryelizabeth) Just got accepted for Hanover House by Brenda Novak and am so excited because it follows what career path I want to take (forensic psychology). I hope it's good. High high hopes for this one.

message 1445: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Kerry, it's more of an intro to the characters. Doesn't really get into the nitty gritty, but I am thinkimg the first novel will. Not out till much later in 2016 though. )-: I plan to read it for sure.

You have lots of reading to do.

message 1447: by Traci (new)

Traci | 29 comments I've been reading other things and so had taken a NetGalley break (while my feedback to approval ratio was 100% - haha). However, I came upon Raising the Barre Big Dream, False Starts and My Midlife Quest to Dance The Nutcracker by Lauren Kessler and realized that I had really liked another book by the author (Dancing with Rose: Finding Life in the Land of Alzheimer's). Actually entered a giveaway for Raising the Barre, but didn't win - no surprise there. It occurred to me that it might be on NetGalley though, so requested it and was approved in less than 30 minutes - yay!!! Hope it's as good as Dancing with Rose.

Just added my review for the outstanding book

I Let Her Go by Clare Mackintosh (Q & A's soon for our group)

When I has a e-mail from a publisher telling me it had a book as a "Read Now " for me, if I click on the link, I did, and back up to 64 books !

Book was...

The Mafia Hit Man's Daughter by Linda Scarpa
