NetGalley Books ... Just Had Approved
I've received an email from the publisher offering me the same book Sue. Bit of a surprise! And a nice one. Not read any by this author before.
Oh heck, I got Humber Boy a while ago! Just realised it's the same author! :-) Sadly my brain is MIA!!

and loved it so much I bought The Woman Before Me
The Sacrificial Man
.
I also just got a letter from River Grove publishing asking me to review Live to Air: An Ethan Benson Thriller.
. Jeffrey L. Diamond, a thriller taking place in New York City. It's written by a 20/20 producer. Looks interesting. Do you guys get lots of requests from publishers? I've just had a couple recently. Kind of makes you feel good a publisher wants to you read a free copy of their client's book.

Net Galley question for the group. I had several people request a title for review, then fail to review it. What is the protocol for following up with Net Galley reviewers to see if they intend to move forward?
Not Sure Scott, Janet might be able to help.
But rarely I do get messages from the publishers chasing me, but I do intend on reading all the books I have to review, it just takes time.

Thanks, Sean. I didn't so much want to chastise as to get a feel for the reviewer's timeline. Not being familiar with Net Galley, I didn't know if there was a protocol, or a way reviewers would prefer to be approached. (If at all.) :)
I don't know how it works for self published but I'm aware many authors are not even aware their book is on NetGalley. Especially the bigger names with publishing houses behind them. I'd be aggrieved if an author contacted me chasing me up on a book. Occasionally NetGalley will get in touch but I see them as agents, the middle man. A publisher might get in touch to offer a book but I don't think I've ever been chased. Equally I would hate to think of folks taking advantage of the notion of free books. Like someone said there's libraries for that. It's a great concept but it should be used with a modicum of respect. Hence I really think before I request.

I'm reluctant to reach out to those who haven't reviewed, except to say "thank you" for the interest.
However...we all know how vital reviews are to unknown authors, so the temptation is manifest.
That I can understand, Scott. I give feedback even when I've not finished a book and say this book wasn't for me. Maybe ask your publisher to do the asking via Netgalley so that they email those on your list. No harm if seeing if that's option for you. :)

If your book was put up after the publish date or very near it then those that requested may have very well put it to the side to keep up with the ones the dates haven't come up on yet. Just a thought as I don't know that is the case with yours or not though.

I don't know. I looked at #1 in the series, and it would probably be OK, but I've seen others I want to read more. Plus, I have to really really want to read something before committing to a trilogy type thing.

I am not approved for this one - still waiting to hear - but just to give you all a heads up - new Tess Gerritson is on Netgalley that was not there this morning! Called Playing with Fire! Go press that button!
Damn, I just looked again and it is UK, Commonwealth and Europe. I hope i have better luck than you did!
Playing with fire is a fantastic book.
I just got approved for
"Shut Eye" by Belinda Bauer and "Exposure" by Helen Dumore. The pic for Exposure isn't on here yet, probably because it's not being published until next April.(well and it doesn't have a cover pic yet) I like both of these authors :)

I know how you feel I just got approved for 4 today, but they aren't being published until after January. I'm not requesting anything now until a March pub date, need to spread them out or I get a little nervous
