Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Oh good, Lynn. I hope you score big time!

message 812: by Traci (new)

Traci | 29 comments Not sure what is going on with NetGalley, or maybe this is just my experience recently. I've had 2 books on request for months, and have heard nothing. I suspect that the books will be archived and the requests will simply be automatically rejected (which is very irritating). Just requested one more to see what will happen, but doubt that it will be approved. Was rejected for X (Kinsey Millhone, #24) by Sue Grafton , which wasn't a surprise, and at least they did that quickly. :)

message 813: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Hi Traci--I requested Linwood Barclay's Broken Promise in April and didn't get approved till I think later July, close to its release date. I had totally given up on it. Maybe this will be the case with the two books you have been waiting on. When are their release dates and what are the titles? Let's see if anyone else is waiting on them or have actually been approved.

I tend to request books simply because the description interests me, rather than those by really popular authors/likely best sellers, so usually am notified fairly quickly of approval or rejection. So it's kind of weird that these two are taking much longer. The two books are Home Is Burning A Memoir by Dan Marshall (release date 10/20) and Last Night in the OR A Transplant Surgeon's Odyssey by Bud Shaw (release date 9/29).

message 815: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments I'm thinking you still might get these, Traci. Keep us posted. I am very curious as to what happens. Has ANYONE out there ever NOT heard back one way or the other about a Net Galley request?

message 816: by Janet , Moderator (new)

Janet | 5302 comments Mod
Yeah me, a couple of times. I just left it and forgot about them.

message 817: by [deleted user] (new)

I sometimes find out I've been declined requests but have had no email notifications sent out to me.

message 818: by Sue (new)

Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments I have had a few where I never heard anything for months, and then when the book is published, I either get a denial notification, or a approval once the book has been published...maybe they don't have enough reviews. Everything is basically finalized around publication date.

Lorrea - WhatChaReadin'? (whatchatreadin) Traci--that happened with me for Pop Goes the Weasel (Helen Grace, #2) by M.J. Arlidge . I just got approved although I requested it in the beginning of July.

I'm being really good and not requesting anything. Haven't looked at NetGalley for a few weeks now. Need to catch up on what I've got. At the end of the day there's always libraries on the odd occasion!

Lorrea - WhatChaReadin'? (whatchatreadin) The Improbability of Love A novel by Hannah Rothschild . Got a surprise email from First To Read and they offered this book without a request or the use of points.

message 838: by Loretta (new)

Loretta Dana wrote: "She had another one called Butcher. just in case you didn't know. I didn't think it was her best but that's only my opinion. :)"

Thanks Dana. I knew about The Butcher. I absolutely hated it. It was so far removed from her first two books. That's why I'm anxious to see what she comes up with next.

That's right, Loretta. I could not stand those scenes when the baddie was holding the woman captive. Couldn't stand them! Only time I have ever skimmed anything in a novel.
