Lynn, we all thought that at first but you will definitely get approved for something! When I first started I requested everything, thinking I would get nothing, and I ended up getting about 20 books!! lol.
Try the 'read now' tab, and if something takes your fancy read it and send them feedback. This will help get your ratio up. :)

A rare, rare event, Sean.

You pick and choose the books you are interested in reading. I was so surprised that I received approval for Janet Evanovich's "Wicked" book. I gave a review on this site and Amazon. Next I am hoping that I get approval for Jonathan Kellermans' upcoming book since he is one of my favorite authors. I have read 22 of his books.

Holy cow, Chris, I have Kellerman's first book on my to read list, lol.
I am sooooooo jealous Sean!!! I got turned down for that ! He is a great author, enjoy! Bump it up your TBR list!
Err I've had a few approvals.
In a Dark, Dark Wood
The Quality of Silence
First One Missing
Humber Boy B
The Mistake I Made
The Domino Killer
Tenacity: A Thriller
And I've still got two pending.

Oooh great selection Janet! Look forward to your reviews!
Is anyone else a fan of the alphabet series by Sue Grafton? Just curious if anyone has requested and received her latest,
?I love that series, so had to request, but not so sure it's one that will be approved. It's only been a couple of days though, so not as if I should give up hope yet - haha! I really like listening to that series, so if I don't get approved will simply wait and get the audio book once published. :)

8:D"Sandy, that one looks so good, I just went and bought it and put it on the "on deck" shelf!
Lynn, go the 'read now' section under Find Titles. Pick a couple of those which you'll get straightaway because they're 'read now' titles. Download, read and give feedback, that gives you a start and publishers an idea of your commitment.
That looks good Sue. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it. I didn't request it as I still have a few to get through.
Just asking when I have read a book how do they know you have left a review is there a link I am surpossed to put in I am a bit confused on how thus all works please help
On the book you select Lynn, there is a 'give feedback' button. Click on that and they give you a little box to write a review and give it a star rating :)
I got approved for 2 more books
and
. That's it I can't read anymore. The good thing is I actually got some books from authors I read. Thank you Net Galley.

I read all her books even though I wasn't that crazy about the V for Vengence but it didn't matter since I love Kinsey.
Lynn wrote: "I joined net galley tried for 7 books got turned down on all sob sob"Don't give up hope same thing happened to me so a couple of things I did was I got the auto downloads first, reviewed them then requested some books from publishers I never heard of received their approvals did my reviews now Net Galley is sending me emails asking if I would read this or that book. Right now I have so many books to read I don't even know where to begin. Also keep in mind that I also read the books you hold in your hands which are my favorite.
Chris, lately, I have been thinking about my loss of a connection with the books on my own to-read lists because of Net Galley books and tons of read-for-review obligations. I have thus been turning down read for reviews unless I would put them on my shelves anyway, and have put a hold on Net Galley reads (presently zero on shelf with 100% feedback) until I am essentially free and clear. Then I want to reintroduce the books I personally want to read (with some fun buddy reads I plan to set up) with occasional Net Galleys and read-for-reviews. I don't want to totally stop those as I have found some real gems with NG and R4R books. I just need to forge time for my personal list. What is your philosophy regarding this dilemma?

Also I am not requesting anything else from NG unless the author is one of my favorites.

Yes me Traci - I have also requested it but not yet received an answer.....
Have also just been approved for Slaughter by John Lutz.
Oh Chris, how many times have I said "I am not requesting anything else from NG unless the author is one of my favorites. "? I just have no self control...and I like it that way! 8:D

What is it about a Goodreads First Reads win or a Net Galley approval that fires off the endorphins???
Way to go, Lynn! That's a start. Read, review, make sure you give feedback and you should be away. :)

I never got an answer for Linwood Barclay's Broken Promises. Did anyone else request that one?
Christine wrote: "What is it about a Goodreads First Reads win or a Net Galley approval that fires off the endorphins???"Christine, that's a good question! Even though I have plenty to read even if I never receive a book from NetGalley or a giveaway, I'm always thrilled to "win" something! And then I have to try again...to keep those endorphin levels high - haha!
Sandy *The world could end while I was reading and I would never notice* wrote: "Yes me Traci - I have also requested it but not yet received an answer....."Glad it's not just me Sandy. ;) I was beginning to get a complex since I have one book that's been pending for about a month, and then haven't gotten a reply about X either. Oh well, I suppose some publishers move more quickly than others, and I'm sure it can also depend on how popular a given book is. Who knows?!
Christine wrote: "Sandy *The world could end while I was reading and I would never notice* wrote: "Traci wrote: "Is anyone else a fan of the alphabet series by Sue Grafton?
