i’ll go first - mine is when set in third person! i’d still read it but not enjoy it as much because i need to be in the mind of the character and hear its inner monologue!

people on the covers,I don't trust em
when the book has a million characters! i struggle keeping track and remembering all the names, it just puts me off
my biggest ick is the overuse of slang words (ex. af, yasss, cray cray, bae, etc) — it’s just so cringey another ick is when authors use the term “milking” during a spicy scene … just no. stop please, i’m begging you.
mine is rape or assault to further the story for no reason like when the author just through it in there
Biggest ick is dumb and annoying main characters. If I am constantly annoyed by what the character is saying or doing I can not enjoy the book at all
I will put a book down if there is a cheating trope or any second chance (like if they broke up and are back together). Every time I read it, I like wanna puke and throw the book into a large fire. -I WILL SAY, sometimes if the love interest really works hard to come back and redeem themselves, I am ok-
That and when the main characters are so incompetent, there is no way they would have survived the book. You ever get to the end and laugh like, how did this b**ch survive? Me too. I hate it.

When it’s made modern and apps like TikTok is added in. I also hate messy books. Like they have to make sense throughout the whole book

Misoginy/Sexism/Racism/Homophobia. Unless the book is set in a specific time or place where these topic make logical sense, I don't want to read it
Everything else, I can get by, but you can be assured that I will never read a book where even one of these things is present

Book covers with cartoon drawings. I am sorry but I am not going to read a book with cartoon characters plastered on the cover. I'm not a child. Give me an amazing 3D animated design or anything but cartoony. Actual Book covers that blow your mind with one glance. Once upon a time, book covers were the first thing that caught our eyes. Where did that time go?Like most people, I despise clueless FMC. Women are strong too. It's 2022. Come on people, get with the time.

Oh, gosh, which takes me to another ick. When the character's personality suddenly changes. Like please, if he or she thinks like a villain, when the heck do they have time to save kittens on weekends? Please, stick to the script. You are a villain, stay a villain. I can understand that after you hit rock bottom, you are going to want to change, but not to an extent where you are not recognizable. And, even if you do change, it's after the third arc, not before.
Yeah, that's all the ick, I can remember for now.

covers with real people (especially shirtless men😭😭) and when they refer to social media like tiktok or snapchat. also third person but sometimes it’s done really well and i forget it’s been written in the third person.
Literally any reference to media like Snapchat, TikTok or Instagram. Also unremovable stickers on the covers. Like "now on Netflix" or "nominated for an award".
