Nancy Drew then Baby Sitters Club, then moved on to dark witch books in middle school. I'm still on the dark paranormal fantasy genre :)

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare kicked of my first love of reading when I was about 12 years old, not going lie anything from the shadowhunter universe can still pull me out of a reading slump 😊As for my second wind at around 22 years old I'm going to have to be a bit cliché and say Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas 😅
So so many. As I kid I loved the magic treehouse and rescue princess books. Then got into like Narnia, The Land of Stories, Harry Potter, and Twilight as a preteen and those really started my love for fantasy. But I also LOVED the original Nancy Drew Mystery series I think those are so underrated.
Wasn’t a fantasy book. It was a series of books called the house of Winslow when I was 8. Then the Zion Chronicles and I was obsessed.
I had always wanted to be a reader but struggled to find my genre. I read Bridgeton 2 years ago and I never stopped exploring. Now Im waste deep in fantasy and read about 50 books a year.
Gotta be the Bridgerton series which had me spiralling into only reading the Historical fiction romance for half a year; then ACOTAR with SJM ruining me for any other writer/genre 😆
My first book was Mio min Mio a book by Astrid Lindgren. I was 5 years old. I’ve read books my whole life. It was my escape from a bad life. I still read a lot. Mostly Fantasy or romance. The Temptation series by Ella Frank was my introduction to M/M romance. Acotar will always be my favorite.
Runaway Twin by Peg Kehret, a local author who wrote thriller/mystery located in my town!! It was the coolest thing ever. I devoured each of her books in elementary school. Probably was a precursor to my love for true crime, it’s on my list this year to read some good mystery/crime books!
I read so much when I was younger but then fell out of love with it, but i found my love (more obsession, really) with it again when I read Lovely War by Julie Berry. If you haven’t read this book, seriously go get it it’s really beautifully written!!!!
Hello! I’m new:) The first books that made me fall in love with reading was The Hunger Games series. Each one of those books were amazing and it was the first time I felt so attached to characters and so involved in their lives and stories. I fell in love with the detail and being inside a characters mind because it was unlike anything I had seen before. I will forever thank this series for teaching me to love reading.
This makes me feel old, but it was the Sweet Valley Twins (not Sweet Valley High, that came later) series that really inspired my love of reading, along with The Chronicles Of Narnia series.
Go Dogs Go, By Dr. Seuss, I've been reading ever since. It was a long time ago; I should do a reread lol
Years and years ago when I was about 12 or 13, I discovered a book called Magyk by Angie Sage and from the moment I started reading it, was obsessed. It made realise how powerful books are by the way they are able to transport you to a completely new world with complete disregard for the current world and surroundings.I remember being excited to come home from school and sit on the sofa with my mum and just get lost in this fantasy world. That’s what made me realise I love reading and love the whole fantasy genre in general!
I only remember reading Twilight in my mid-teens then didn't pick up a book again until I started reading self-help books like The Power of Now and Master Your Emotions in my early 20's and I really enjoyed how relaxing it was. Then read classics like 1984, To Kill a Mockingbird, Handmaid's Tale and The Secret History which all got me really into reading. Then started the Harry Potter and discovered TOG series which got me totally hooked on fantasy!
It was the selection series 🫣 my best friend had them and I was trying to read again, so she gave me them and I LOVE IT, I read all of them in 3 nights.
dont hate me for this, it ends with us. but i havent touched any other coho book since then, I SWEAR
the goosebumps series. I spent an entire summer vacation not even wanting to go outside and read all I could get my greedy little hands on.
I think the first ever young adult book I read was The Great and Terrible Beauty. I read it mainly for points back in high school, but I remember loving it! I need to re read it bc I don't remember what happened, and i never finished the seires!.
Honestly growing up the book Winn Dixie, and the one and only Ivan, those two books have been read a thousand times. There was a period where I didn’t read books maybe at the age of 11-13 the book that got me back to reading was holding up the universe by Jennifer Niven. That book got me back into reading so fast.
Circe by Madeline Miller was the first book where i lost myself and understand what we call an amazing storytelling.
i think it's Death's Obsession by Avina St Graves that i started with, since I always read Wattpad in JHS
I've read since my parents started reading to us as kids Which to get my dad involved he got to pick the book which happened to be Lord Of The Rings crazy I know but an absolute favourite, last year I hit a brick wall with my normal genre (thrillers, phycological and murder mysteries) so i jumped ship to fantasy and haven't looked back, my first book and series was Throne Of Glass so it's now a favourite.
I started with IT ENDS WITH US by CoHo… then I discovered ACOTAR and it had me on chokehold! My life’s never been the same ever since 🙂↕️🙂↕️
