Has to be the Magic Tree House Series and any Junie B Jones book. I think the first time I realized how emotional reading could be was when we read "Shiloh" by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor in the 4th grade. That was the first book that had me in tears.

I remember loving the Giver and the City of Ember after reading them in school. I also read every single Lemony Snicket book. One of my favorite fantasy’s as a kid was Inkheart. Fast forward to now I just finished Fourth Wing and am preparing to do an annotated re-read :)
As a kid in school we had an assignment to read Anne of Green Gables, I was maybe 8? I think that was the first book that I enjoyed reading. However after finishing it, I was struggling to read other books. And then, when I was around 11, I got my hands on the first Harry Potter book… and I was gone. It forever changed how I felt about reading, finally it wasn’t a task and rather a hobby. I can’t count how many times since then I’ve read the HP series, it is my addiction.
The last fantasy book I read was The Hunger Games, and I took a 10-year break from reading fiction. The first book I read after 10 years that brought me back into the fantasy world was The Black Witch, by Laurie Forest.
A fantasy world of witches and other unique races. Reminds me of Harry Potter & Fourth Wing with the college setting. Kitchen witch vibes with her herbal studies. <3
Incredible magic system and found family <3 And a little love triangle and forced proximity too :) I LOVE that I got to meet Laurie Forest and have her sign my book.
The next series I read after her books were ACOTAR & TOG. Now reading Crescent City for the first time.
Harry Potter was the first series that made me really excited about reading. I used to read it with my mom. Love those memoirs!
When I was a child, it was “Rainbow Fairies” and “The Magic Tree House”. The first (teen) series was the Percy Jackson series. Now I’m obsessed with anything fantasy.
Honestly didn't get into reading until I was around 14/15, I remember my starter book being one called Halo by Alexandra Adornetto and after finishing that I just remember having the worst book hangover ever, I didn't think I could bring myself to read ever again after the emotional turmoil that book sent me through. Then fast forward I'm in my 20's, I'm not ashamed to say that Colleen Hoover reignited my love for reading, to which I am grateful for because her books have now led me on to such bigger and better masterpieces. And I wouldn't go back to Colleen's books now either (eeek, sorry not sorry)
The first book I read was the Cruel Prince, I stumbled upon booktok, and the book was extremely trending at the time, and because I just earned money from a summer job I decided to buy it, that was 4 months ago, I am now on my 17th book and unlocked a huge addiction to reading :))
I can’t remember the first, but I LOVED Series of Unfortunate Events and Harry Potter as a kid. Couldn’t put them down!
This is going to age me… but in elementary school I discovered Geronimo Stilton books- which is essentially Nancy Drew as a mouse lol.
The Little Princess is the first chapter book I remember with my grandma. Since then I haven’t stopped reading lol
I had two:• The Inkheart trilogy by Cornelia Funke. Dustfinger was my first book boyfriend (how could he not be?!) and the Inkworld gave me my first realisation that the real world was never going to be enough for me; I knew I needed books to take me to other worlds.
• The Doomspell Trilogy by Cliff McNish. It’s not a well known series, but it was my first chunky read (around 600 pages) and I would sit with my brother and read it to him before bed. As the story followed a brother and sister duo, my brother and I would pretend they were us and we were reading about our own adventures, so it will always hold a special place in my heart 💛
Harry Potter as a kid Shopaholic and Bergdorf Blondes as a teen (Bergdorf Blondes still is a fav comfort read)
I’d been reading a bunch but truly ACOTAR got me back into the world of fantasy and joy of reading!
Gosh for me I would say the infernal devices, clockwork angel from Cassandra Clare.I read this when I was 12 or 13 years old and the world really made an impact on me, this series is a trilogy and I absolutely adored every character. I found that this trilogy honest shaped me in such a way that I think was for the good. I loved the romance and the high stakes and the plot, the characters felt so real to me.
To this day I still haven't found something to be on that same level of impact now that I'm nearing my mid 20s. But yeah, I'd say Clockwork Angel was the most impactful book I have ever read and yet it made me want to search for a book that gave me the same impact from when I was a kid.
I believe it was originally Twilight, but the Uglies series was what really grasped me back when I first got into reading. ACOTAR relit my love for books again.
James and the Giant Peach! I already had a reading habit, but this book is what changed what could have been a passing phase, into a life long love. I felt apart of the story, I was on the adventure. It was the first time I experienced the satisfaction of finishing a book while simultaneously feeling the emptiness that sets in when the journey is over. It is what spurred me on in the search for the next great story. I am so grateful to the librarian that recommended it to lil 2nd grade me!
For me it was definitely Land of Stories. My friend had recommended it to me and I couldn’t stop reading it. I had kept asking my mom to buy the next book in the series but that is the book that got my sucked into reading!
i grew up spending every day after school at the library, i would come home with about a dozen books checked out and finish them by the end of month. while i do not have a vivid memory of what first sparked my attention as a child, i do know that i fell out of love with literature for awhile. when i hit high school, i had no time to read for enjoyment... it's very hard for me to separate required and choice readings. i saw a tik tok with the cover of a house of earth and blood, and before even watching the video, i looked up the author and the series. CC2 had just came out when i discovered the series, so i bought both books and dove back into something i had missed so dearly. SJM really changed the trajectory of my life. i ended up switching my college major to english, and now i am reading more than ever.
High School- The Uglies series & Hunger Games! As an adult, I read thriller/ mystery books here and there, then Colleen Hoover got me back into reading heavily (especially romance). When I read ACOTAR, I had no idea what I was signing myself up for but my reading taste has completely changed in the best way 😏
The Sword of Shannara. I can still visualise the opening scene when Flick meets Allanon, even though it's many years since I read it. Masterful!

The inheritance games did it for me. I was on vacation, so when I finished it, I found the e-book and immediately started to read it on my phone.
I read many books before coming to conclusion that I actually like reading. my first book was "Looking for Alaskka" but it couldn't win my heart the way I wanted. After quite some time, I bought the whole trilogy of "Dove and Serpent" as I was hoping that they won't ruin the whole witchy concent and after the first book in the series, I couldn't stop buying morr and more fantasy and ya books.
It all started with Little Critter books, followed by the Babysitters Club and my next obsession was Fear Street.
Might sound ultra alternative of me, but 'Le royaume de Lénacie' was the series that made me enjoy reading. I was 8 at that time. I wonder if I'll get nostalgy-strucked if I re-read this... or cringe to death.
Ooohh I can’t decide between, Goosebumps, Nancy Drew, or the Bailey School Kids. I loved reading those in third grade and they truly were the beginning of my love for books and stories. Probably why I still enjoy a good mystery/thriller to this day.
Shadows Between Us! I loved this book so much. My friend recommended it to me and now because of her I read the best books of all time!
I think for me it was the CHERUB series by Robert Muchamore when I was in primary school. The whole series will always hold a special place on my bookshelf!

OMG I forgot about the Uglies series!
Maixpaix wrote: "Harry Potter. Didn't really read as a kid, and I was already a teenager when HP was released, so yeah, later bloomer I guess. I'm making up for it now, though."Magic Tree House <3
When I was young my parents would read Junnie B Jones to me! Always made me feel like I was in her world!
When I was little, I liked the Junie B Jones and the American/Michigan Chiller books. I didn’t read as much for fun in high school or early college. Just a few books every now and then. But my friend recommended ACOTAR over the summer and now I’m back on a reading kick. Since starting that ACOTAR over the summer, I’ve finished a few different series and it feels so good to be back into reading!
uglies series!!! i was in love with those books in middle school. also twilight, i read those books so fast back in the day i couldn’t get enough
I always loved to read. But I guess the firt book I have ever been obsessed with was Harry Potter. It helped me during dark times... I think the wizarding world really made me travel. Ps.: It's my first post here, I'm brazilian and I speak portuguese. Sorry in advance in case I write something weird eventually lol
First book i remember being obsessed with is Twilight🤣🫶🏽 then came IT by Stephen King then came the Percy Jackson series and the rest is history …:
Nancy Drew, Wayside Stories from Wayside School, Bailey School Kids, and then Harry Potter propelled me throughout my teenage years
The Uglies series, Harry Potter series, & the Twilight series! The book (series) that got me back into reading again is ACOTAR - - about to finish book 2!
Back when i was in high school, we have to read Journey To The Center Of The Earth and 80 Days Around The World. And i really enjoyed it. But the book that got me back into reading after a long break is ACOTAR. Finished the series in 2 weeks!
