Please remember that all tags/lists must qualify IN CONTEXT!! Links MUST be provided.
Don't make more work for yourself than necessary - if the qualifier is in the title or on the cover, use it! You don't have to go searching for tags to make it work. 😊 If the link you use for the book is the same you are using for the page count and edition - say so (see above edition or something similar)! That saves us all some steps. But please double check your links!
You may use separate editions of your Scavenger Hunt books to qualify for the different tasks. Links MUST be provided.
O is for Odyssey - Read a book 300 pages or over.
To qualify for this task, the selected book needs to have a first edition Kindle edition 300 pages or over. Don't overthink this - it is the same page count you post for every book.
O is for Orca - Read a book with black and white cover.
To qualify, the selected books cover needs to be black and/or white. Shades of gray will also be allowed. A small pop of color, e.i. title, eyes, or lips, will be allowed, but it must be small! You can use any edition's cover to qualify. Please include the qualifying cover in your completion posts.
O is for Oregon - Read a book set in Oregon or written by an author from Oregon.
To qualify, the author of the selected book needs to be from or currently live in Oregon. Or, the title, series title, precis, book details, tags or list need to indicate the book is set in Oregon. The setting can be the state or city within Oregon.
O is for ??? - ???.
To be revealed when the date begins.

I will be posting the next date from my phone. I will not be available to answer questions or check for the Speed Dating Rose.
There are a couple of outstanding corrections. I'm not sure if they would affect the rose tallies, but I won't be posting those until Sunday either way.

You have until Friday, February 3 @ Midnight US EST to post your completion(s).
Please ensure that your completion post conforms to message #3 of your team thread. If you complete more than one book for the date task, be sure to include that information in your completion post. Remember no discussion in your completion posts!

To qualify for this task, the title, précis, list or tag would need to indicate that the selected book has a geek or nerd (or brainy or intelligent) MC. Qualification can come from the title, precis, tags or lists.

I will get to that - hopefully before too long.

Do I note the Boss the Billionaire as the read book, but use the Crossing the Line page count?
The blurb on Boss only states that the book was previously published under a different title. No mention of rework or additional writing.
The page counts are very similar 302 vs 304
Thank you!

You will need to use the Crossing the Line page count (302). It does not matter which edition you link to in your completion post.

Is this ok if I were looking for, let's say, MPG fantasy?

Hi Kat - the old format had more room for the MPG listing I think? So the 'more' simply takes us to the equivalent if there were a heap of tags that qualified for MPG. That's the way I was looking at it, anyway. 🙂

Please remember that all tags/lists must qualify IN CONTEXT!! Links MUST be provided.
Don't make more work for yourself than necessary - if the qualifier is in the title or on the cover, use it! You don't have to go searching for tags to make it work. 😊 If the link you use for the book is the same you are using for the precis or cover - say so (see above edition or something similar)! The less links I need to open the better! That saves us all some steps. When using tags/shelves as a qualifier, please link to the selected book's top shelves page that contains your qualifying tag (NOT the link for the shelf - that would still leave me searching for the book) in your completion post. Also include the number of tags and the top shelves page number - this information is extremely helpful if the tag moves or the link is broken and both happen frequently. And please double check your links!
You may use separate editions of your Scavenger Hunt books to qualify for the different tasks. Links MUST be provided.
R is for Rigid - Read a book that has a hard cover edition listed on GR.
To qualify, the book needs to be available as an hard cover. The hard cover can be in any language. Please link to the hard cover edition on GR of your chosen book in your completion posts. If that is not available, please provide a link to Amazon showing the hard cover edition.
R is for ??? - ???
To be revealed when the date begins.
R is for Rom-Com - Read a book that is MPG Comedy or Humor.
To qualify, the selected books need to have 'Comedy' or 'Humor' as a Main Page Genre.
R is for Ruby - Read a book with a red cover.
To qualify, the cover needs to be primarily red. Include the qualifying cover in your completion post. You can use any edition's cover to qualify. If using TinEye (I have a love/hate relationship with that site), it needs to be over 50% read and make sure you are including the background. If in doubt, please ask.

For this date, I will not be correcting any completion posts, but I will be checking the threads. If the completions are incorrect or missing elements and are not corrected AND reposted, the book will not count. Teammates, help each other out! Double check for qualifiers, MPG romance, page count and that ALL required info is in all completion posts! Because I will be checking the threads, please repost all corrections even though I am not requesting them! I will accept a link to any edition as long as the page count in the completion post is the first edition Kindle page count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books!
PLEASE, include that your post is a repost when making corrections and don't forget which book number it is for you!!
In the Scavenger Hunt thread, I will only be listing the claims that are complete and correct. The first complete and correct post for any book will claim it. If the book doesn't qualify, I will still comment stating so. Follow the dots here - if the book is listed, all is good. If the book isn't listed, but I didn't comment, something is wrong/missing in your completion post - and the book can be claimed by another participant.
I will only be answering questions in the Q&A or Scavenger Hunt threads! If you want a quicker response, post in the Q&A thread.

Are you looking for crimson red or will you allow a range of shades?
I'll admit I find colour categories difficult as the boundaries between red and pink / purple / orange are so subjective. TinEye doesn't always help with the way they name colours.

I will allow a range - but if it is pink or orange rather than red it won't work.
You are all free to ask about specific covers if you are unsure.

Just glancing at the first page of thumbnails, I would say about a third of those covers are not over 50% red. Granted I was only looking at the thumbnails, but it was enough for me to say that the list alone is not going to qualify your books. It would be a good starting point to look for books though.

Yes. I typically save a copy of the cover in question down to my desktop, nav to the tineye site, and then just upload the photo. Then it gives you a color breakdown from there.

Yes, you can use TinEye for free. Here is how I do it for free.
1. Save a cropped copy of the cover you want to check to your device. Save the edition/one you think most like to meet the qualification.
2. Go to TinEye.com
3. Scroll down and select the page MULTI-COLOR ENGINE.
4. Scroll down and select TRY OUR COLOR LABS.
5. Look for CHOOSE FILE. Upload file you saved in step 1.

Another option for TinEye that's hopefully a bit more streamlined...use this link: https://labs.tineye.com/color/
In a separate browser window go to the main book page of the edition you want to check and just click on the cover photo and drag it onto the TinEye page, then de-select the "Exclude background color from extracted colors" checkbox. This will give you the correct color breakdown, including the background.

Hi Kat, I didn't think Kindle existed in 2004 - the record does say St. Martin's Paperbacks.

Hi Kat, I didn't think Kindle existed in 2004 - the record does say St. Martin's Paperbacks."
There are lots of Kindle editions dated earlier than Kindles actually existed. I believe they may use those dates when there are no changes made to the edition? 🤷🏻♀️ I have posted multiple times what I will accept as a correct page count.

Apologies - the rules are clear, I was confused as I hadn't noticed the pre-Kindle Kindle records before.

Kat did you our check post. I posted right after you announced the speed dating rose was still available, team 7
