Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war—and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

The author made a great choice starting the book as they did. I’m super curious about where she is, why her parents sent her away, and who this boy is.
So I assume this is some sort of dystopian world, based on the reestablishment and everything dying off? How did it get like that?
And I’m assuming Adam also has some sort of power like Juliette if he’s always hot?

Why does she think he forgot her? He made a comment about it. Albeit sarcastic but he did

Ah. Well shit. He’s in the military. I’m going to assume there’s a twist here and he’s actually a rebel trying to fight frok the inside?


But what does Warner want here? Obviously he wants to gain power with her. But I’d there a romantic interest too? (hide spoiler)]

Wait. How did she know about the white bird. She didn’t know Adam as an adult right? How did the white bird hold so much significance?
And he can touch her so he must have some sort of power too.

So much happens in these chapters. Lol
Warner is so messed up. That test he did to force her to harm a toddler. 🤦🏽‍♀️

And Adams love declaration!! Oh man.

Wow. There It is. Warner is delusional enough to think she’d eventually want to BE with him?!

Chapter 1-10: (view spoiler)[This one has sort of a unique writing style with crossed out sentences telling what Juliette is thinking and what she actually says. I can feel the conflict she faces constantly. Interesting so far but I do have more questions than answers at this point (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 11-20: (view spoiler)[I am sooo confused!!! Why does Adam not get affected by Juliette’s power? Is he immune? And what does Warner want? I’m totally shipping Adam and Juliette together but there’s undeniable chemistry between her and Warner as well. Adam is definitely not loyal to the military considering he is helping Juliette, telling her things (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 21-30: (view spoiler)[Warner seriously looked unhinged to me if he ever though Juliette and him could have a happy future together but he is immune to her touch as well and I am dying to find out whyy!! What he made Juliette do to save the kid was just plain cruel, i am sure he has his own demons to deal with considering the hints dropped about his mother but so far I don’t see myself ever liking him. Adam and Juliette escaping made me so so happy! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 31-40: (view spoiler)[Damn I am kinda angry at Kenji though I understand it wasn’t completely his fault and he does have a humorous bone in him so. James is such a cool kid, i loved him instantly! The way Juliette tricks Warner to get hold of his gun is badass and i loved that she was the one saving Adam’s ass this time lol! (hide spoiler)]

Finished: (view spoiler)[oh this was good so many people with such different powers together under one roof. I am so happy that Juliette found a place where she fits in after being rejected by everyone for so long. I knew Warner dying this easily just wasn’t possible. He is crazy about owning Juliette, I am kinda scared of what lengths he’d go to in order to have her (hide spoiler)]
