December 2022 - Christmas/Winter Reads

I've got The Christmas Killer lined up for December. I bought it last year but didn't get round to it. It doesn't sound like a bundle of laughs as its a murder mystery / thriller so we'll see how I get on.

Next read will be

I had the same problem, Helen, with Eagle in the Snow - the snow didn't start till at least two thirds of the way into the story!

I am now reading The Essex Serpent - handily it starts in winter... although the chapter headings suggest it won't stay there!

I finished The Christmas Killer but to be honest it was a bit disappointing. It was billed as 12 days, 12 murders and was held together by 12 days of Christmas themed cards but the 12 days of Christmas had no real bearing on the case and we had significantly fewer murders than 12 over about 5 days. I just think it was a real missed opportunity.

Christmas themed/set books are the thing for December and if they don't toast your crumpet, then anything with a wintry setting will do...
Being a little Scrooge-ish towards Christmas books myself, I spent the last two winters enduring the Siege of Leningrad instead (Ice Road, City of Thieves and The Siege), so I really should try something a little lighter this year!
I think I will make a start with Eagle in the Snow by Wallace Bream. What will you be reading?
