((Her bathing suit http://cdn-s3-2.wanelo.com/product/im...))Katrina grabbed her bored and trudged the sand. She was wearing her usual bathing suit and her favorite sunglasses.
Olivia was relaxing on the beach under a large parasol she'd brought. She wasn't trying to tan, but just enjoy the nice weather and a break from school. Practice earlier that day had been killer, leaving her with a sprained ankle that was already bruising. She opened her eyes at the sounds of someone walking nearby. "Hey, do I know you?" She couldn't quite place the girl, but she vaguely recognized her face. Maybe from school or something.
"Oh yeah, I uh, we go to the same school. I've seen you around but don't recall your name." Katrina said puzzled.
((Sorry, no one-liners please :) If you could add some of her thoughts or more actions to posts, that will be perfect :) ))
"Olivia," she said, pushing up her dark shades. "What's your name?" She pointed to the girl's surfboard. "Are you planning on going out on the waves?" Olivia wasn't big into surfing. She'd tried it once, but after hours of falling down she'd simply given up.

((K))"Katrina," she replied, "and yeah I've been surfing since I was five." Katrina was surprised by this girls attitude. "Have you ever tried it? Surfing I mean."
Katrina asked. Katrina recalled the first time she surfed it took her a year of training to actually get in the water.
Olivia nodded. "Nice to meet you, Katrina." She rolled her neck around and stretched. "Oh, that's cool. I tried surfing once, but it didn't go too well. Cheering is more of my thing. At least, when it comes to sports." In all honesty, there were few "things" Olivia didn't claim as hers. Surfing might have been the only one.
Katrina smiled. "I would love to be a cheerleader! I just don't try out because I know the will say I'm not good enough or something. Let me ask you do you think I'd be a good cheerleader?" Katrina hoped she would say yes but had her doubts. She was strong and she was pretty but a cheerleader?
Olivia smiled, sizing Katrina up. She looked to be about average height. And she definitely had the looks to be a cheerleader. "Um, can you do a decent walkover? How about your handsprings? We're short a couple of girls this semester, so if you know your basics I'm sure we could get you a try-out." Of course, Olivia would have to ask the head cheerleader (who has yet to be created ;P), but she figured she had enough pull to get Katrina a try-out. And she wanted to, because it was the nice thing to do.
"Yeah, see" Katrina said. Then she did an easy walkover and then a front handspring and also a back handspring. Katrina smiled feeling confident. Having Olivia's approval felt good. Maybe she could actually become a cheerleader someday!
"Looks good!" Olivia grinned. Katrina looked very comfortable with the moves, and with her build she'd make a good flier. "Okay, so my only other question would be if you're afraid of heights. Because I think you'd be good as a flier like me, but if you get afraid or freeze up you could end up seriously injuring yourself." She frowned, looking down pointedly to her swollen ankle. "If you're fine with heights, though, I'll see what I can do in terms of getting you on the squad. So what year are you again?"
"I am not really afraid of anything." Katrina said proudly. She sat her board down and sat on the sand next to Olivia. "I'm 16 in 10th grade, a sophomore." Katrina answered.
Olivia scooted over on her towel, leaving room in case Katrina wanted to sit down without getting sand all over her. "That's good. Cheerleaders who get afraid easily don't last very long. It isn't like speech and debate club, where all you have to get over is a fear of talking in front of people." Olivia smiled. It had taken her longer to get over that fear than it had to get over the fear of falling or hurting herself. "Cool, a sophomore. Sophomore year was a fun one. Not quite as fun as junior year, but still good. Do you have any friends who can drive yet?" The memory of befriending the first sophomore to get their license--how special she'd felt her first time leaving campus for lunch--made Olivia laugh. It all seemed so normal now, going to the mall and eating there instead of being stuck with the horrible cafeteria food.
"I can drive actually. I have a pretty nice convertible to." Katrina smiled, "Well I better get surfing!" With that Katrina got up and ran off with her board into the water.
Olivia strolled onto the beach in a t-shirt and dark sunglasses. She and Layna hadn't managed to find any sunscreen at her house, but she was sure they could find someone willing to help with that problem. It would be a great excuse to talk to any cute boys, at any rate. "So," Olivia said, looking sideways to Layna as they walked, "Who do you think we should ask for sunscreen?"
"Good idea." Olivia smiled as she pushed some of her hair out of her eyes. The breeze kept messing it up, and Olivia almost wished she had a hair tie on her to pull it back. "Ooh, what about them?" she asked, nudging Layna and pointing to a group of boys playing volleyball. No doubt they would be able to help with the girls' predicament.
((I know some rps wouldn't allow us to make up characters on the fly, but it's perfectly fine with me if you'd like to rp one or more of the guys playing volleyball :) They won't be permanent unless you go over to the creation thread later and submit them, but they can definitely exist for the purposes of this rp!))

Olivia squeezed Layna's arm, quite happy with her taste in boys. "Um, we were just wondering if we could borrow your sunscreen?" she asked, a smile slowly spreading on her face. "I mean, you could help us put it on too. If you want." She knew that her style of flirting was over the top, but it made her giggle. As long as Layna didn't get mad about what she'd offered on both of their behalf, she figured they could have a lot of fun with the boy and his friends.
"Yeah, thanks." Olivia felt a bit of jealousy over Layna taking the cutest boy, but then she reminded herself that there were still three left for her. She eyed the ones Trevor had called Jack and Mark, trying to decide between them. They were both rather cute. She squeezed Layna's elbow and walked over to the other boys as they came up with a huge bottle of sunscreen. "Hey. Um, do any of you want to help me put the sunscreen on?"
((Kk, so I had an idea. What do you think about me roleplaying Trevor for now, and you take Mark? That way it won't be like we're both roleplaying with ourselves ;P))

Trevor smiled, hardly able to believe how lucky he and his friends were. Well, mostly him. He took his time rubbing in the sunscreen, feeling Layna's smooth skin under his hands. "Almost done," he said, squirting out some more and working it into her shoulders. He kept his touch light, not too rough; no need to hurt her. He had a feeling if he played his cards right that the already good fortune could get even better. "So Layna, you look a little familiar," he said. "Do you go to THS?"
Olivia smiled and nodded. "Yes please. Yup, Olivia. And you are... Um, Mark, right?" She pointed to a nearby red-and-blue towel. "Is that yours? Do you mind if I lay down on it while you put the sunscreen on?"
((I was just thinking THS would be a made-up high school that these boys go to :) ))

Trevor laughed. "I bet it does feel good. To be honest, I've never really had someone rub sunscreen on my back. I think that's a girl thing. Not that I'm complaining." He nodded along with her question. "Yup. We're on the basketball team there. Your LAHS team is pretty good." He smirked, remembering how the THS team had clobbered LAHS three years in a row.
"Great, thanks!" Olivia waited for him to finish straightening the towel before lowering herself onto it. She shifted to find a comfortable position, working her arms under her to form an impromptu pillow. The sun on her back felt nice, and she was glad she'd be able to enjoy it without fear of burning.
