I have a new book coming out on the 10th of January, The Newlywed. It's book three in a cold case series. I'm working on book #4 now and at the same time writing a new horror novel on the side. So, it's a busy time. But writing is always fun!

LOL. One of the things I enjoyed about my ex-husband's family was that everybody carried reading material with them everywhere they went -- yes, including out to dinner. A few of them would read while holding a conversation and watching TV.

The first time I went to meet the entire family, I had a book in my purse and took it out at the last second because I didn't want to come off as rude.

We got to the restaurant, and they asked us for a few minutes so that they could put a few tables together since we were a pretty big party.

As soon as we sat down,everyone took out a book! I looked at my ex and said, "Why didn't you tell me!?!" He said he assumed I had a book because I always do! He didn't see when I took it out of my purse.

Once I got my first Kindle, I never had the issue again! LOL

Just finished Chapter 3. My gut reactions: (view spoiler)[

So many things are telling me Beth should run right now!

1. Marty "giving up" while some guy had a knife to her chest.
2. His wanting to "hide" in the bathroom indefinitely.
3. His considering leaving Angel there to die.
4. His refusal to call the police while having the presence of mind to "clean up" the crime scene and cover up a dead body.

Personally, the only thing I could see keeping me there would be Angel. But know I'd be formulating an exit plan (and finding a way to call the cops). Any trust I had in Marty would have evaporated. (hide spoiler)]

I really enjoyed this book. I did the audio and I love when the audiobook is read by someone with an accent. It adds everything! American accents are so boring.

I thought this had great suspense and kept me guessing in a few places which is rare for me.

I had an urge to read a good thriller, and this is scratching the itch very well.

I'm now at Chapter 21 and very worried for Beth while I could care less what happens to Marty. As I believe that is the author's intended effect - - it's working!
Things are taking another turn and I'm getting suspicious about something, which I'll conceal within this (view spoiler)[ I'm not buying Marty's story about the home invasion being about his taking money. I think he's a split personality concealing a killer who probably murdered a family member of one of the home invaders. He's also probably dispatched Craig's sister due to his tendencies. He couldn't resist. However, another theory is that Craig is an accomplice to Marty. Hmnnn. Food for thought. (hide spoiler)] Things are occurring in this story that are making me paranoid. (view spoiler)[ I'm wondering if in the early drafts you had Angel killed, and then changed your mind about how to handle it. If so, I'm glad. I'm one of those readers who don't like reading about animal abuse but seem to have built up a tolerance (reading only) for human cruelty. (hide spoiler)]

No, never! I'm with you on animals.
I have had readers complain if I so much as mention animal cruelty, but I think it's important that I'm realistic about what happens in the real world. Realistic but never ever graphic. If an animal is hurt, I try and show how much they mean to those who love them - or love animals in general. I try to use people's reactions because these things can reveal who a person really is.
