ABANDONED. Kidnapping to a school for kids with demigod like powers?

Apologies in advance if I'm not doing this right, first time!

I'm looking for a book for a friend of mine, he said he read it in the early 2000-05 and that it was about five kids or early teens that were kidnapped and sent to a sort of school or even boarding school or facility where they learn that they have powers, but he can't remember if they were called demigods or just had special powers. He only really remembered that the main character is a girl who can bend lines of gravity to make herself weightless and that one of the other characters can control spirits. The only other thing he remembers is that the main character breaks into an office to steal an orb that enhances her abilities. He can't remember much of anything else though, not the names or what the characters looked like either.

I'm usually good at finding them on my own but google just keeps showing me Percy Jackson, Camp Half Blood or real cases about kidnappings. I need help TT_TT
