Karl Forshaw (karlforshaw) | 12 comments I'm considering applying to become a librarian. I used to manage books on here back when it was Shelfari. But I'm an author and my primary motivation is being able to manage my own books on here without bothering the already busy volunteers.

Is it possible to be both a Goodreads librarian and a Goodreads author at the same time?

Renske | 12341 comments A Goodreads author can add new editions and make certain edits to their own books. So authors generally don't get to be also a librarian (although exceptions might exist).

Karl Forshaw (karlforshaw) | 12 comments Ah, so once I've waited for my first book to be added I'll be able to claim it, become and author, and then I won't have to bother anyone again?

Not all edits can be done by authors (for example mergings, replacing covers, creating and adding to series), but on the whole, yes.
