In the book there was a flashback scene to the female main characters childhood where there family was getting robbed (in the present I think she found out that it was a targeted attack because her father did something... something along those lines). Her parents called for her to go into the secret hiding place they had. She discretely went into the secret room that they had behind a fireplace (I think it was a fireplace), she tried to get her younger sibling in there with her but they didn't go with her (didn't want to leave the parents I think). Her parents and sibling were killed.

Another detail I remembered: she wasn't meant to be home, she was meant to be at some school camp or something but she didn't want to go so her parents let her stay home. The robbers asked among themselves where the other kid was (because they knew there were two kids) and either one of the parents or the other robber said that she (female main) was at a camp.
Could be “Renegades” by Marissa Meyer. It’s a YA book with romance in it, and there is a scene or flashback where the main character is a child and her house is broken into by some people her father had some sort of business deal with, but they turn on him I think. These people kill her parents and I believe her baby sister, but she is hiding so survives.

Hey!Can you give more idea about when you read or anything. I am pretty sure i have read this book or something very similar but I can't pin point it. Anything more would help.
The book I read had two robbers, and I am not sure about the hiding place but yes fireplace sounds right, it was this specially designed so there was some room to hide behind or beside. And then, if I am not wrong it was the father's business partner who did that.
^This definitely sounds like the same book! I think I vaguely remember it being the father's business partner (someone like that) yep!
I think I read it around early to middle of this year (didn't add it to my list I think). I'm assuming it was written sometime in the last 5 years (give or take a few years) as I usually prefer "newer" books.
I went through my list too, I still can't figure it out. Now, I am confused if I read this or watched something similar. I tried different key word searches too. Still nothing.
Ahh omg. I found the book... and it was one of the books I said it 100% wasn't it... well turns it out was.It's Twisted Love by Ana Huang and it was the male main character not the female character (probably why I was confident it wasn't this book - since Ava's brother was still alive).
