RIght now I'm so behind on Wandering Inn because of the massive amount of BRs lol
I really can't wait to get to at least one o..."
I know! I'm really looking forward to it!!
Starting Golden in Death... #50... isn't/wasn't the Queen of England's 50th anniversary as monarch a Golden Jubilee?...
They usually are, imo, when you dig into the circumstances or real world parallels, or senselessness...
I can't think of many murders where the murder is funny, outside of like slapstick parody stuff like Angie Tribeca...

I never said any were funny (and I am confused about this statement).
But I will try to explain.
When comparing the deaths between Golden and Vendetta, for instance, I find these deaths (Golden) particularly sad. On the other hand, the deaths in Vendetta were not sad, even though they were brutal and still unjust (well, except maybe that first guy).
I guess I wasn't finding the nuance in the use of sad...
In other discussion, how many times is the villain going to be (view spoiler)
This is at least the fourth time, right?...

Yeah, I get what you were saying--there are definitely some openings/cases that hit harder than others...

Starting now... should be able to finish before bed, and count it as my last book of the yearly competition...
Week 52 of the thread... been a whole year... reading Faithless in Death... I wasn't sure this was one I'd read before (didn't check the book page for my rating), but once I hit about 70% it became clear I had, when the full scope was revealed...
Started and almost finished Forgotten in Death yesterday... wasn't my best reading day... spent nearly 4hrs at the dentist, where I did half my reading...
This was a new read for me, finally... and a pretty good one... classic Eve knows alot of the things story... so it's paired with an Eve knows nothing secondary story, that takes longer to resolve... Roarke connections... housing plotline developments in the background... good stuff...
Going to be a shame, when we run out of books in a few weeks... this has been a great weekly read, for me (and some others)...
I'm not sure Stephanie Plum will scratch the itch in the same way, but maybe doing it as a group thing will keep me reading, this time around... I've only read 5-10 of those, in the past...

I liked that the (view spoiler) stayed "in character" (aka delusional) until the end. There was an odd satisfaction in imagining his reactions once reality set in. Edited to Add: (view spoiler)
As for (view spoiler)
The most shocking thing about this story was that (view spoiler)

Excellent comment! I wish I had thought of it to add to my review!!

I enjoyed the social aspect of this story a lot! I love seeing the team, friends, and/or family working together!

I just finished this one on my break. It's good! As I'll state in my review, it feels like a double feature.
I was sad when (view spoiler) I liked their musical family so much that I hope to see them again! They can jam out with Nadine's boyfriend at An Didean, a benefit concert! LOL

Chapter 18 - You have to be freaking kidding me!!!!
I was going to say I don't say how it is possible, but based on the suspect's actions (view spoiler) .

I read that yesterday, meant to come in and comment... was going to do it today...
This was an interesting one... the backstory took some unexpected turns... and there were some red herrings / similar possible suspects in the present, like the (view spoiler)

I finished this earlier today.
Speaking of the (view spoiler) , I hope Roarke buys the place!!
Also, it was great seeing (view spoiler)

I know I'm early, but we're so close to catching up.
In my review of #54, I said that the stories are getting more intense - this one already proves that theory; the intro was challenging to read. I got sick to my stomach PDQ.
One of the characters is currently missing, and I'm hoping she's found sooner rather than later!! I tried to cheat by looking up her name using Kindle's X-ray feature, but her character's not there, and I have no idea what that means.
(view spoiler)

It's not always obvious, until Eve makes it obvious who she thinks (I can't remember if 50 was an obvious one or not)

Yay glad to have you back here :)
I don't think this one was super obvious.

Finished Golden in Death #50 ... So, it wasn't my brain. It was not obvious for more than half of the book... I read your comment, Iain and I can see your point, but I can see why JDR returns to the theme so often... (view spoiler)

Welcome Back, Choko!! (((Hugs)))
I agree with your response!

Yes I do appreciate those too!

I finished this late last night.
I don't have any chapter tags, so I'm putting all of my thoughts behind spoiler tags:
Mavis - (view spoiler)
The Boss - (view spoiler)
The Victims - (view spoiler)
The Machine - (view spoiler)
Basically, I want to know what happens next.

Forgotten in Death #53 was more typical of the series and I felt terrible for the abused victim... Some times it's just so sad that our guys get to "stand for the victims" after they are dead already:( It's a bit depressing... I would have loved to see Alva having been helped while still alive... Just sad...

Agreed... and I love that you get to binge these... that was how I first experienced the series, back in 2014... listened to about 40 of them in 6-8 weeks...

I know it's crazy how time flies! Choko we need your reading time bubble :D
Started #55: Desperation in Death... the first page seems innocuous... kid getting demerits... then you learn the true details of the "Pleasure Academy"...
Checked the blurb, and it sounds like Eve's gonna be triggered hard, in this one...

Everyone (including the readers) gets triggered hard by this one!!
This is the 2nd one in a short time with a bad social worker...
Choko's not gonna like that...
But, at least this time there's someone that comments how this type of social worker gives the profession and good social workers a bad name...

Just finished Abandoned in Death #54 ... My brain must be awakening, because I figured out the killer in the moment he showed up on page. Yay! These books after #50 are completely new to me, so I feel good about myself:)
Mavis is awesome, Nadine is awesome, Jamie is adorable, but I think it has been a while since I have mentioned how adorable Peabody and McNabb are, and it just has to be noted. I wonder if we are ever going to get their wedding. Nora Roberts is not getting any younger, so if she doesn't plan on wrapping up the series, I am hoping she is grooming someone to take over and continue it, just in case... I love this "found family" group so much!
