Oh hey! That sounds like Castle! I loved that series...

I keep meaning to finish it. I'm not even sure where I stopped watching it, though.

One of my favorite police procedurals. In for the murders, stay for the family dynamics. I just absolutely love the father/daughter relationship in that series...

I love the series, season 1-5/6... it kinda of falls apart, after they finally get together... the first season of them together is fine... but then, the fact that Nathan Fillion & Stana Katic (aparently/supposedly) hate each other in real life starts to shine through, and they actually start purposely have less scenes together, leading to the kidnapping on the way to the wedding and the whole final season (and the plotline to become a Senator)...

@Monika--the COAT is totally the star. Love that coat. If I didn't think leather was stinky, and feel rather bad about the cow, I'd want one...

Started #47: Leverage in Death: things are moving forward on a 2nd Nadine book, awards season for the 1st movie... never noticed before, but the whole cast of the first movie is signed on to turn the 2nd book into a movie...
Title feels like it has a multiple meanings: (view spoiler)

#47 is another one that shows how much Eve has grown as a person, letting Peabody go to Hollywood for the Red Carpet Gala, despite the ongoing case (she practically has to shove Peabody to the plane, since she's instilled a similar work ethic)...
She wouldn't have done this, early on in the series... (and/or been more grumpy about it)...

Just read this today! Triple dittoing this! I really appreciated the conversations E&R had about Eve's journey & growth. I was also surprised by the ending--and it's so in-character for Eve to have seen it coming... and so much of her growth in how she dealt with it. Dittoing Choko on all the feels for the battered wife...
One thing though--why "Echoes"? I can't seem to come up with a reason for this title. Is it a reference to (view spoiler)

We meet a new person who will either become a recurring character or the unfortunate victim of this book; I am really hoping it is the former. (view spoiler) .
If she is the new recurring character, someone close to her (view spoiler) will either be the victim or a suspect - neither of which will be a good thing (although if he ends up being a suspect, there will be the chance that he is innocent). Either way, I hope I'm wrong, but the amount of attention paid to both in so few pages has everything in my gut saying one or both will be involved, and it won't be pretty.

The murderer ended up being..."
Just read #45 Secrets yesterday. Really enjoyed the secret dishing... finding more people for Eve to help out. Definitely agree about the Roarke growth, and that was a great scene with Sommerset.
There's one part where Nadine mentions getting an intern, and Eve says she has someone in mind. Anyone know who? I feel like Eve's got a lot of young talented survivors in her retinue... I don't know who would be interested in media though.
Also loved that there was a great Bella echo line in there. "Bitch!"
Also agreeing, Emily, about Eve's instincts... when was the last time she called it wrong?

2/3 of the way to #33: New York to Dallas, the book that resolves (most) of Eve's childhood trauma/baggage, once and for all...
Read the weekly book...
In the past few weeks, we've reached the point in the series where my foreknowledge is slowly lacking... we're past the point where I binged the first 40+ books, and had to start waiting for new releases... and I wasn't always very on-the-ball with reading them, and became a bit disillusioned with why I loved the series so much, way back in 2014 when I was binging them...
Anyway... I was just as on-the-edge-of-my-seat as everyone else, about what was going to happen to the newly introduced possible recurring character... and I really liked the differing dynamics of the case, versus "usual" cases... reminded me a bit of some Brooklyn 99 plots...

Although there was less”togetherness” in this one, the friendships feel closer and more secure.

Very good installment!

The whole thing, the murders and the people behind them, made me kind of sick... So stupid, the whole thing, but I actually used to work with that population as a social worker, and I have seen how differently these young people see what is important in their lives... It is very disheartening and hope is rarely found among them... I stopped working there, because my car was constantly robbed and my office was shot at twice in a year. A good friend got killed on one of those occasions... I was proud of trying to help and I strongly believe those kids need help, but they need to want to be helped. Maybe if we could get involved in their lives before they get court appointed visit it would be better all around, but there is a moment when they become too involved in the street life and become seeing themselves as "us against the world", and reaching them becomes close to impossible... I left, because I was getting depressed and full of hopelessness, and felt like I was going to go under and wasn't helping anyone... It saved my sanity. So I give props to all who stick with it, I just wasn't strong enough to create professional separation...

MOAR HUGS...
And I definitely understand needing work/life balance... it's hard sometimes, knowing there are things in the world that could use your contributions, but you just don't have the energy to give... sometimes the best choice is leaving it to those who do...
And I read Leverage in Death today... more despicable victims... great entry, tho... and I think there was a meta thing I wanted to comment on, but I completely forgot...

I'm impressed how many people have stuck with the series week to week... or even at their own pace... all year long...

Kinda feeling that too lol
Meanwhile, I shake my head at you guys and your tendency to leave a few books unread... I kinda understand, but being behind makes it easier for me to fall even further behind, because I feel less urge to read new releases, since I'm behind still... I like being caught up on things, even if I'm left with cliffhangers sometimes...
And with this series, new books release every February and September, like clockwork...

Just started this, and was thinking the same thing--interviewee in chapter 5 says "I like my job. The bad guys lose, and the good guys win." LOL Is this an ode to her own work?
