When you think about it, Eve has grown/healed emotionally in a very short amount of time... Naked in Death opened in February 2058...
Conspiracy In Death, #8, was January 2059...
And New York to Dallas, #33, is late summer 2060 (July/August)
The next release, #57, will be set in July 2061...

You make an excellent point, Iain. It's easy to forget how tight the timeline is in the series. Last night, I read Chaos in Death (Bouns Story #33.5).
The culprit was evident, in hindsight, but I got fixated on the wrong guy. I am blaming my anxiety on GR being down all night! That's my story, and I'm sticking to it! LOL
This was a solid entry. I'd give it a 4 for the interesting issue they had to resolve.
We get to see Baby Bella again! (Yay). Eve's softening up around her.
i probably hit refresh 500x last night... and it's still failing to load half the time this morning
Timelord Iain wrote: "i probably hit refresh 500x last night... and it's still failing to load half the time this morning"Same!!!
Same for me with the site issues!!! Ghhhrrr! I was extra frustrated, because I started, and eventually finished New York to Dallas #33 , and I so wanted to comment while I was reading it, but alas, GR had other ideas... This was a tough read! Not only were the perp and his "assistant" horrible people, but the emotional toll this took on Eve, and because of that on Rourke, was tremendous!!! (view spoiler)Both #32 and #33 were very strong entries in the series!!! I couldn't put them down and now I feel like the asshole in this book, completely unable to decide what to read next, since it feels safest just to continue with these, but I know I have to read my other BR books... So hard to make the choice...
@Choko - I agree with everything you've said, especially concerning the last chapter! You are probably right about the dreams too. (view spoiler)
Yes! I remember when my girlfriend was going through the loss of her sister to suicide... And my mom after the loss of one of my brothers...For months they were so gone to grief, I felt like I couldn't reach them at all, no matter what I did... It is very difficult to be the person standing on the side when your loved one is going through the hardest for them emotional torment... I was very impressed with JDR when she put him in her dreams, behind a glass barrier, all haggard and overwhelmed... At least Eve was aware of it and could find her way back to him...
Thank you guys! But really, you all know how that is... And I think this is why I love this series so much - as infuriating as the characters can be at times, their humanity feels so real and touches on so many purely human, everyday emotions, that you can't help but see yourself in them ...
Chaos in Death 33.5 was a fun short... Dr. Chaos indeed:)))I am half way through Celebrity in Death #34 . We get to meet the cast and crew of the Icove movie:)))
Celebrity in Death #34 This is where Eve gets the magic coat and Peabody starts wearing her pink boots from Dallas:)
I finished #34... I was so happy when we got the killer! Nadine was absolutely marvelous in this one!
Also, there was a sort of a proposal that was just adorable!!!:)))
I'm still working on Celebrity in Death.I like Kyung, but something about him makes me feel suspicious!
Nyssa wrote: "I'm still working on Celebrity in Death.I just finished it. It was okay - solid.
The proposal was fun and funny.
The scene at the dinner party was fantastic.
And I agree with Choko that Nadine was fantastic.
Ugh, Scribd didn't have Possession in Death and only had the abridged version of Indulgence in Death ><What the heck is even the point of abridged versions??
Tonari no Emily wrote: "What book should we "officially" be on btw? Can't wait to do a small a binge to catch up:D"LOL Was thinking the same thing. Ditto this!
Just ran through #31.5 Possession in Death today, though I haven't hit #31 yet. I really enjoyed the little get-together of the whole menagerie of characters near the beginning, and I think it was Nadine who commented on how Eve had collected quite a diverse group--basically saying aloud what I was thinking in the scene. Lots of different walks of life and the whole age range too. I thought it was cute that everyone was commenting on Trueheart's date.
I'm glad the "possession" (view spoiler)

July 10th should be #35, whichever one that is... we just did #34, Celebrity in Death this past week...
On the topic of Celebrity in Death, stories like this always remind me of the USA channel movie series with Judd Nelson playing a writer who kills people and keeps them in an underwater lake garden (Cabin by the Lake)... it had a sequel, where they made a movie about the first movie, and he snuck on set and started killing people again (he escaped in the first movie, I think)...
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0283974/
I kinda feel like this book could start an In Death Inception, (view spoiler)

Good to know!
That sounds interesting... Reminds me a bit of Misery for some reason? But kind of in reverse...
Got through a couple In Death books... Indulgence (view spoiler)
Possession was a fun one. I appreciate the bits of fantasy we get in the shorts... and the party at the beginning was a nice little continuation of what Eve set up during the previous book. I love the character development :)
Treachery (view spoiler)
Started Delusion In Death... I think this might be one of the Madison Square Gardens books I was referencing...
I just love the onelines in this series...
"And you think the name Peabody strikes fear into the hearts of criminals?"
"It better/should"
I read that last night and smiled/laughed, but I've already forgotten the exact wording...

The one-liners and banter are probably the second thing I love about these books... I know they're always going to make me smile...
About third part of book behind me. Very interesting situation, very interesting. Plus info about Eve and Roarke fathers connection.
I'm really loving all the sayings Eve gets wrong. it's so close, but she uses the wrong word or combines two or something and everyone just gently corrects her and she's just like yeah, whatever lol

She usually has a point about how the sayings make no sense, and are better HER way :D

I am starting Delusion in Death today.Yesterday was my birthday, so I spent most of it with my family. We went out of town. I visited my parents, and then my kids took me to the Frost Science Museum in Miami.
We returned home last night, and my poor daughter had to get up at four this morning to prepare for work. Thankfully, I requested both my birthday and today off.
Finished New York to Dallas, Chaos and Celebrity. About halfway through Delusion now.I really did go on a little In Death binge :D
New York was definitely a big one! (view spoiler)
I honestly really enjoyed Celebrity! Idk it felt more like mystery than the past few books so it was a nice change of pace.
Delusion is really good so far too! Another big/dramatic one (view spoiler)

You're doing a decent job at maintaining half the pace of the weekly readers :D
We just read #35

Thanks Iain :) Not bad for me with all them tries to catch up with rest of BR on list LOL! I should not forget other books I have on my TBR list and books from my challenge lists ect :)
I just completed Delusion in Death!I wished I had taken notes or highlighted along the way, but I didn't think of it.
The scene with Dallas talking to Mavis and her family made me tear up. And I love the friendly flirting between Roarke and Peabody; it seems sweet. On the other hand, it felt like the culprit was played a little too easily. The ending was interesting, though.
I am back too! Monika, I am so glad you are not giving up! Everyone else seems to have binged to get to Delusions in Death #35 ... I also finished it and it was a very dramatic one! The culprit's motives made me sick! So many people died for what?!?! Just sickening!
The wrong sayings are one of my favorite parts of these books, together with every first sentence in each book describing Roarke! I look forward to each of them! And the insults between Eve and Summerset! And we definitely need more of Galahad, if you ask me...
I'm only 20 pages into Calculated In Death (Book #36), and sadly, I already suspect (view spoiler).Of course, It's natural to question them automatically, but I don't want it to be them. Unfortunately, the reaction to the news was conflicting; it felt both heartbreaking and rehearsed.
However, if it's (view spoiler) we have already met, that might be much worse!
I don't like that Eve allowed the "suspect" (?) out of her sight; that feels like a mistake.
Although it could also be that we've read so many of these now that I've become suspiciously minded of everyone mentioned in the book! lol
Edited to add: this post feels like de ja vu!

Yeah I agree with that.. Although the guy did seem a bit well delusional by the end haha

Half way through Treachery in Death #32 ... Always very hard to read when dirty cops are involved... The first murder felt like it was there only for Eve to let Peabody know that she needs more physical training. Then the gym locker scene made me want to hug and protect Peabody myself!!! If they had found out she was there, they would have killed her for sure!!!
I very strongly dislike the illegals cop lady, but I am very aware that it's because of our point of view. I wonder if we didn't have that intro, we might have thought of her as a strong, capable female cop worthy of respect... But Eve is on the hunt for real at this moment! She takes it personally when she believes there are dirty cops...
The Mavis cameo was awesome!!! And Bella is absolutely adorable! Trying to share her chewing biscuit, hahaha! Gross!:)
