Oh man, that abridged thing is super frustrating!! I am *angry noise-ing* on your behalf too!!
Though I am totally in child-terror camp along with Eve... but I also get what you're saying... I just try to remind myself that someday the children will be adults, so I can just try to be patient and not panic and respect the adult they will be someday even if they make me want to run in the other direction...
Tonari no Emily wrote: "Thats frustrating!! I don't know why abridged versions even exist..."Same!! And at the very least, they should be marked as such; then, I could have avoided it and saved my hard-earned dollars!

Re: "Angry-noise-ing" Thanks! :)
Re: "Child-terror camp" LOL!!
Oh. I finished Survivor In Death and have Origin in Death on hold at the library. Libby is estimating two weeks.
Number 14 in reading... Finally :) Peabody's parents are great :) interesting new case, this Julianna is smart but Eve defo find the way to catch her again :)
Monika wrote: "Number 14 finished! I love how Eve dealt with Julianna :)"
With all the talk about Threshold lately, I thought you were talking about 14

By the way started Purity in Death... Geez! Flipping scary! Hope McNab will be fine and Trueheart too.

Multiple times... they just setup a Buddy Read for July 20th...

Part of the interest in a BR right now came from some of the books being on Audible sale this past week... I think the sale is over now, tho...

I'm always on paperbacks Iain :) almost done with Purity in Death. I should finish it tomorrow I think and then grab another one.
Just as I came here to say that I was still waiting for Origin (it was still on hold at lunchtime), I checked Libby to find the book was now available! LOL I will either start it tonight or tomorrow.
I want to finish The Other Wind (Earthsea #6) first.
Read Salvation In Death yesterday... another solid entry... Eve's super cop powers seeped in strong when a 2nd crime happened...
It's never a good sign when Madison Square Garden is mentioned in the series... usually the scene of an impending crime, possibly mass casualties...
We're getting close to the big one, now... #33, New York to Dallas... another 6 weeks...

Oooh, excited to jump in on #26&27 later... think I'll probably do a back-to-back next week... just want to get through the clump of BRs from the 15-17 first....

LOL I imagine paperbacks burn better than audiobooks....
Iain! Keep ya fire away from me books man! LOL! Flipping hell, that sounds pretty Geordie LOL! I really like northeast of England :) their dialect is just brill :))
Hahaha! I would love to go there one day... For now, I just enjoy the movies I see about that region...
Living in Northumberland, rather rural county, but full of history and castles and beautiful gardens :) still have lots to see here specially on northern part near Scottish borders.
Started Portrait in Death yesterday before sleep. Poor Summerset.... Argument between Eve and Nadine just wow! Great start of this book :)
I just finished Origin in Death (Book # 21) - I think it is one of my favorites so far. I stated in my review, "The result felt like true justice."I love watching the whole team work together (and I count Nadine as part of the team). Even Crack got involved, plus an invite to dinner (a sweet touch).
The argument between Eve and Mira felt real/authentic, not forced drama. Mira loves Eve so much, and Eve has no idea what to do with that love!
I also loved meeting Roarke's family - not that I will keep any of them straight; I mean, if Roarke can't, how can we mere mortals be expected to? LOL
I wonder if Peabody & McNabb will be upset that they weren't there - or if they'll understand.
This story felt good. I'm excited for the next one.
Nyssa, re: Origins in Death... I gave it 5*+... One of my favorites! It was breaking my heart at times, but in the right way...
Still about Origin - as Iain said, very important case, because it makes everyone involved in it world-wide famous... I often think of the series as before and after this book...
Oh! That sounds exciting!!Unfortunately, I'm going to have to wait to find out.
I have the following two on hold at the library.
It looks like I'm going to have to start borrowing two at a time, and remember to request the next book as soon as I start the current one.
No time for reading today. We spent few hours on the beach - Blyth goes to War event. Now preparing for work... Will be back home after 10pm, so maybe will catch few pages.
Just finished Strangers in Death #26 ... I really enjoyed it! Absolutely an homage to Strangers on a Train:) I was wondering how they were going to connect it, but obviously, JDR knows her job. I love the little details - they really make this series. Just little looks and sayings and it catches your heart... Honestly, this series has been keeping me sane as of late... Thank you guys for reading with us!:)))

Loved seeing your analysis there... that one was so good!

There's been so much joy/fun/comfort in these weekly BRs, that I've been trying to think of other series that could yield similar results, once this one is over... planning to do Animorphs next year, as mentioned in Vagabond and maybe some other places...

Against my better judgement, I'll probably end up tagging along on Choko's planned Stephanie Plum BR... even tho i quit that series after 5-10 books, because the MC was TSTL half the time in her investigations / bounty hunts...
My hold for Memory in Death was just released, so I'm starting tonight. Born in Death is still on hold, and I decided to borrow Innocent in Death now since it is available. I can renew it if I have to wait a bit for Born In Death to release.
Timelord Iain wrote: "Against my better judgment, I'll probably end up tagging along on Choko's planned Stephanie Plum BR... even tho i quit that series after 5-10 books because the MC was TSTL half the time in her in..."I might try if I can find Kindle copies in my library and I have credits or can afford the audio. I've been curious about the series for a long time.

I think Innocent was my favorite so far... but it's also hit close to home for me...

Nirkatze wrote: "I think Innocent was my favorite so far... but it's also hit close to home for me...."I look forward to reading it! Oh, and thank you for the compliment about my earlier post. I meant to reply then but got sidetracked.
I also want to thank the group for this buddy-read bonanza!
I am addicted to this series. I kept trying to pick something else to read, not knowing that the hold would be released so quickly, and nothing else was keeping my attention.
I've attempted to finish The Courts of Chaos at least three times in as many weeks, but I keep drifting back to Eve and Company.
Can't blame y'all... Zelazny is interesting but so glad they're uber-short... else it'd be far too much of a slog. These're much easier reads, and feel-good too. Need some feel-good reads like fire in winter.
Monika wrote: "Slowly going through Portrait in Death..."The story is intense on many fronts. It's an important entry.

I honestly thought I'd be all caught up by now. The story is interesting; I'm curious to see how things transition to Cycle #2, but I feel the slog - it's not holding my attention, and the month is almost over.
Choko wrote: "Nyssa, same here... There is something extremely comforting in having this cast of characters..."
Yes! I really like them. I can't believe I'm 20+ books in, and not only am I not tired of any of them, but I also want more!
