Shae Bright | 1 comments Morning! Was out looking around for challenges for 2023 and ran across this one. I am opting to shoot for Mount Blanc (24). I don't have a ton of books on my bookshelf at home, but this will help me to clear them off.
I also participate in a couple of book chats per month with friends and have signed up for one called Read Around the USA.
Good luck everyone!

Lauren (seedysoutherner) Hello! A friend guided me here. I have an Olympus sized book mountain, but for my first try I think Mount Blanc is probably more realistic since I read in bed on my Kindle a lot these days. Thanks so much for having me!

Hello, Lauren! Good luck with your first climb!

message 108: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Hello!
My first year doing this challenge and I am very excited for it. My goal for 2023 is to read as many of my physical TBR books as possible, many have been on my shelves for WAY too long. I am trying to not add more books to the collection, which is virtually impossible for me. I also get super distracted with Libby books and library books and audiobooks etc :-) Really, I can never have too many books but I don't have enough shelves for them all. My goal is to reach Mt. Kilimanjaro, but hoping to make it past that as well. I look forward to seeing what everyone is reading. Happy climbing!!!!

Sam (aramsamsam) | 9 comments Welcome Lindsay!

I am Sam and this is my ninth hike! While my physical tbr has dwindled considerably (not least thanks to this challenge!), my endgame is to read the rest of it and also reread some books I have owned for ages but only read once. Maybe some of those reads don't stand the test of time and I can finally let them go. I started the year off with Breakfast at Tiffany's, and while it is undeniably a linguistic feast, I'm no longer sure I need to own a copy. Come visit me for a chat :)

message 110: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie Hi gang!

My name is Ashley and I'm super excited to have found this group - I own enough books for a Mt Olympus-sized climb but I always intersperse them with plenty of library books and new releases, so I'll be aiming for Kilimanjaro for this first excursion. Would love to get higher if I can!

message 111: by Fearless Donna (new)

Fearless Donna | 23 comments I kept hearing my friends on Litsy talk about this challenge. So I decided to join in. Especially with my outta-control TBR pile. Thanks for hosting such a FUN challenge!

message 112: by Stina (new)

Stina (stinalyn) | 14 comments I failed Mt. Ararat last year but not by a huge amount, so I'm going to try for it again.

message 113: by Jenna (new)

Jenna Copeland Kristensen | 7 comments Hi, I’m Jenna and I really need to read some books! I have a pile of TBRs in all forms that I’d really like to whittle down. I’ve set myself the (modest) goal of 24 books and we’ll see where we go from there. My challenge is that I listen to the Currently Reading podcast and can’t resist buying the books that they talk about. Good luck to everyone!

message 114: by KeenReader (new)

KeenReader | 8 comments Hi everyone, I am back again and I am fed up with not getting to the top of any mountain,so I am going for Mt Wychproof and if I get to the top of that, I'll jump across to Pike's Peak.
I do things slightly differently though. I count every one of my books that I read as a step up the mountain, but I count every book I buy as a step down (so I could end up pot holing, not climbing!) I am aiming to read three books for every book I buy.

Good luck everyone

message 115: by Meghan (new)

Meghan Bohn | 51 comments Back again! :D Last year I cleared Mount Blanc with room to spare, so it's time to tackle Mt. Vancouver!

Shelly | 2 comments I’m back! However, I’m getting a slow start to 2023

message 125: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (keslei) | 29 comments This is my seventh year doing the Mount TBR challenge, and my first attempt at Mt. Vancouver! I've successfully summited Mont Blanc a few times, including the past two years, so this time I wanted to push myself a little further. I'm also continuing my efforts to balance my book buying with reading or rereading owned books - I've never really come close with this but the proportions are getting a little better each year!

message 126: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer T. (jent998) Hi!

Jennifer from Florida here, RN and cat mom. I’m back I think for the 3rd or 4th time. I’m a bookaholic but I don’t need any help, I love it. I have at least 1500 unread books between my kindle and bookshelves. I have a stack of 20 books ready to start but soooo many others to choose from.

Hoping for a happy reading year. Happy Reading!

Welcome back, Shelly! I'm also starting off a little slower this year. Hopefully, we'll both find our climbing feet soon.

Dani | 9 comments Better late than never: I managed to scale a few of the smaller mountains last year and will be uploading what I’ve read since January and see how far I’ve got so far…

I suppose I could count them and go straight for the highest but as I know someone from Wycheproof I prefer to start there ;)

And as I got here way too late to stake a claim, I’ll take a leaf out of Pamela 2’s book and label my climbs with The Other Dani :)
