We would like to propose a new feature for the BOTMs discussion treads. What do you think about the person who's suggestion wins the BOTM being responsible about the discussion for that book?! We think this could add some buzz to the discussions and take some the pressure from the moderators ;).

Of course, we think this shouldn't be forced or mandatory, but if the person agrees she can promote the discussion as she likes and it can be fun.

Give us your opinion!

Ohhh, Shaz, we we're not thinking about that type of work, only moderating the discussion about the book!

Merry in and out for the next few days (jewelhound) | 855 comments Sandra, I can see that being useful as books are nominated and then there is little discussion. My problem would be remembering what book I nominated lol

Merry, I will remember the person who nominates, eheh!! I think this could bring some more discussion, similar do a read a long, in some way.

Oleander | 263 comments I certainly don't think the moderators should be obligated to read the BotMs. The idea of a discussion leader is tricky though. It could be good if done right, but most often, boring generic discussion questions are asked and boring responses are given. I prefer when people just express their honest opinion of a book and give their insight on the characters or plot. That being said, I'm open if there is a better way to do it.

Merry in and out for the next few days (jewelhound) | 855 comments Oleander, I have never been in a moderated book group (or any book group other than online) so I can see what you mean. Sometimes I read the back of the book questions and wow those are not interesting and rather obvious.

Maureen | 183 comments I think it is a great idea in theory but it would depend on the person’s ability knowledge and comfort level to put into practice. Honestly I wouldn’t know how but if it was explained I am sure I could learn.

Please note, if we did decide to do this (and all we are doing here is getting some feedback from members) it would not start until Feb 2023. So go forth and nominate madly for January 2023....you will not have to do anything (other than read the book if successful).

I note there are no noms at present.....

and if we decide to go forward I think that if the person who had nominated the winning book doesn't want to participate she doesn't have to! Our idea has to had some action to the discussions threads

Merry in and out for the next few days (jewelhound) | 855 comments Sandra, I understand what you mean as I think some books are nominated and there is no reviewing or comments. I tend to only read books that are on Kindle Unlimited or if I can get them from the library. Also, I think people nominate books they have read and liked but don't necessarily reread.
I think with pointers on how to lead it could be helpful.
