I finished 3 chapters yesterday and today. I really enjoyed how quick the beginning was. No long preamble before the action started.

I'm still reading the second chapter but will catch up tomorrow, I agree, though, I had no problems diving into the story.
I also instantly liked Rory and her twin sister, I usually feel like that for Harrison's characters, like I'd like to go and have a cocktail with them :)

Take your time. I won't get to chapter 4 til tomorrow or Friday. I really like the twins too, and I totally agree! I always like her characters too.

I finished chapter 4 and moving on to 5. (view spoiler)[I like Ian. He seems quite perfect, so I wonder if he is too perfect. I also wonder if every character we meet is the werewolf who bit her. And I wonder if there is a second werewolf, too. If whatever animal that stole the attention of the werewolf when it attacked her was another wolf. (hide spoiler)]
I also like how quick she came to the conclusion that it was a werewolf and she is turning into one. No wasting time. lol

I finished chapter 5 (view spoiler)[I like Ian too and I have been definitely thinking that he bit her. How she all of the sudden develops an attraction to him is cute, but suspicious. I haven't been thinking about who the second animal was, but will pay attention now.
It is getting very emotional and deep where I am at the moment, the things Rory has gone through in her childhood are a hard pill to swallow so I kind of understand her feelings for her mom and I'm curious how those feelings, in combination with her being a werewolf now, will manifest. Right? 😄 I was thinking if something attacked me how much time would need to pass for me to come to the conclusion that it was a werewolf! I'd probably think that I'm very ill.
And that scene at the Halloween party where she just threw Mike away? I wouldn't per se want to meet a werewolf but I'd love to see a werewolf woman throw a guy uncomfortably hitting on her into the air. I loved that scene.

So, yeah... Chapter 6 was rough. (view spoiler)[The flashbacks about her childhood was upsetting. The Dave incidents were terrible, but her mother? ugh. Rory has let her off easy by just being distant with her.
I liked Scarlett for the werewolf for a minute because it would justify her apprehension of her baby (not that that need justification) and the disappearance of the baby's father (she ate him). But she doesn't seem to have the same food aversion as Rory and I think she would have told her before the full moon.
I also considered Ash because she so good yet bland. She would make a good surprise werewolf. And it might explain her psycho child. lol.
But Ian definitely seems like the most likely suspect. (hide spoiler)]
Yes, I would think rabies before werewolf. And yes! I loved Rory throwing Mike at the Halloween party. And I loved that she didn't apologize afterword. Cool chick.

I have now finished chapter seven.
So how about (view spoiler)[they pull a "Murder on the Orient Express" and ALL of the townspeople are werewolves? They do seem to eat normally but, then again, we're not being given what everyone else eats. I agree that Ian is the most likely, though. Yeah Ash's son Luca definitely has little werewolf potential, lol.
The transformation was awesome! The sex handcuffs 😆 And the poor rats, and the rat tail and rat teeth, yuck! All in all I think it looks like she didn't do anything worse than eating a few rats. (hide spoiler)] It's interesting how good wolfing out does to her body though, she seems to do really well ever since - except she smells like dog.
The cover text made it sound like her transformation would represent some kind of metaphor, some kind of breaking out in her life so I am kind of hoping (view spoiler)[there will be some kind of confrontation with her mom - who extremely annoys me to be honest. I have total sympathy with Rory making her passive aggressive remarks and her cold shoulder and I'm glad there was a mini conversation, even though her mom still didn't take responsibility - very frustrating! (hide spoiler)]
What do you think about Mia? She was out of town too, so maybe a kind of ally (view spoiler)[when the town werewolves potentially turn against her? (hide spoiler)]
I'm curious where the whole thing with Scarlett's baby dad will lead, I hope it's not what you said. (view spoiler)[I think Scarlett's reaction to the news was pretty credible, so at least for now it doesn't look like she's the werewolf. (hide spoiler)]

I have finished chapter 8.
(view spoiler)[OMG, yes, The rat tail and tooth was so gross!! I loved it. Hate the mom more and more, and now that Scarlett is in the hospital it looks like mom will be hanging around longer. Which makes sense. It ramps up the drama, and like you said, maybe we will get a real confrontation between Rory and her.

Speaking of Scarlett... she is more and more suspicious to me. I agree that her reaction seemed credible to Rory revealing she's a werewolf. But it could also speak to her horror if she realized she bit her sister during her own blackout and effectively ruined her life. She seems to be withdrawing from Rory quickly in chapter 7 and 8. And Matty isn't dead...unfortunately.

I was thinking about Mia too. The out of towner who happens to be home just when Rory gets bitten. Very suspect. And I love your idea of a town full of wolves. That would be fantastic. (hide spoiler)]

On to chapter 9. I am enjoying the book.

I just finished Chapter 9 and I absolutely agree, I'm loving reading this.
As to Scarlett - (view spoiler)[yes, what you say is very true, she becomes more and more suspicious. And yes, you could interpret her reaction like that also, since they don't seem to remember what happens on full moon when they wolf out.
Now knowing that it was her who threw Matty out, and not him leaving her, there are two possibilities; 1)Matty isn't the father of the baby, 2) The baby is a werewolf.
I am really hoping that Ian isn't the father 😬, it would be such a blow for Rory. The baby possibly being a werewolf makes one think of Rory and Scarlett's father, do we know anything about him? Maybe it's genetic? (hide spoiler)]
Scarlett and the mother being together so much and something Rory said made me compare (view spoiler)[her being assaulted to her being bitten by the werewolf. I think Rory says something like 'I came here for you and now can never go back to my old life', which is, just not caring about what happens to Rory as long as Scarlett herselt does well. Which is exactly what her mother did after the assault. (hide spoiler)]
The parts with the mom get more frustrating by the page.

I finished chapter 10
(view spoiler)[Definitely hope Scarlett's baby is a wolf. And she is annoying me too. I get she has her own stuff going on but I agree, she seems so selfish. And a lot like their mother....who I'm glad is finally gone.
I hope the baby isn't Ian's either; that would just be gross. And what is with him texting Mia? Ugh... I'm annoyed with everyone at this point except Rory. (hide spoiler)]
I hope we get a few answers soon, but I'm still loving the journey.

(view spoiler)[ok, the pieces of the puzzle slowly find their places, I think we can cross Scarlett from the list of suspects.

I am actually thinking Mia at the moment. And she has the potential to do it from malice, because she's jealous of Rory or just because she's mean? There's a scene where she's described like she has amazing hair and her eyes are shining, and that's the night or two nights after full moon, so maybe it's her after-feed-glow, if there's such thing? (hide spoiler)]

Hah, yeah, somehow they're all annoying but I somehow understand Scarlett now a little better.

I did enjoy the conversation between Scarlett and Rory. I agree, I understand Scarlett better and I stopped hating her. lol

So I couldn't stop myself and finished it...
My thoughts:
(view spoiler)[I did like the way it all turned out to be, but in the end I had a feeling it was turning more and more into a feel-good story, which is perfectly fine, but I wish at least the final battle of the werewolves had been a little more detailed and drawn-out. I wish there had been more werewolf in general, I guess. I still immensely enjoyed it, as I said before, I love Harrison's style and her characters, so it will be a four star read in the end. I just finished this morning. (view spoiler)[I was also disappointed in how it turned ended so easily. Everything wrapped in a bow and everyone happy. It was anticlimactic. I love Harrison's writing and her characters too, but somewhere around half way through the story felt like it changed into a romance. And Rory becoming a werewolf became simply the obstacle that stood between the lovers instead of the main plot. (hide spoiler)] I'm going to sit on it for a bit before give it a rating.
