The Devil You Know (Rutledge Family #3) by Liz Carlyle
The Devil You Know by Liz Carlyle

Join us in reading this HR that features the theme FORCED INTO MARRIAGE!

Synopsis:

Frederica d'Avillez is sure she will never marry. She's had a disastrous London season, and now her longtime beau has thrown her over for a more eligible miss. But if Freddie can't have a husband, she's hell-bent on experiencing at least one night of unforgettable passion. Where better than in the arms of the dashing rogue Bentley "Hell-Bent" Rutledge? So what if he's a rake, scoundrel, and all-round devil?

Scandal trails in Bentley's wake and fair maidens usually steer well clear of him -- and vice versa. But when the opportunity presents itself, Bentley can't resist Freddie's exotic beauty. When their wild, reckless passion has dire consequences, Bentley is forced to choose between honor and freedom. And Freddie soon realizes that Bentley's devil-may-care façade is just that -- for she has unwittingly unleashed his dark secrets...and secret desires.

Happy reading!

Maureen | 183 comments I am currently reading this book. So far it looks like an interesting read with a large cast of characters.

Lauren | 1370 comments I've reread this book a couple of times over the years which is why I didn't vote for it. I haven't decided if I'll reread this Dec. but I highly recommend those who haven't yet read this gem.

Jan (jan130) | 2667 comments I really like Liz Carlyle's books. She retired from writing a few years ago, I believe, but it's worth hunting down her books, especially the early ones IMO. I liked this one although it's not my fav by her. I might reread it later this month and join the discussion.

Peaktopeak | 34 comments I finished this a while ago and forgot to post. Christina Dodd had a pull quote on this one-something like 'written in the grand tradition'. I found that so true, I thought it had great sweeping DRAMA! I hadn't read the others in the series or Carlyle before. So while I felt a little behind, I enjoyed it. I really felt like Bentley and Freddie came to care for each other by the end. I felt Freddie's angst when she realizes maybe she shouldn't have encouraged Bentley to come clean with his brother. I might seek out some of her others and would be interested in recommendations.
