Background

History: Mikkjel was born to a human mother and Loki. They met when his mother saw the God disguised as a normal man, hitting it off and before she before she knew it, her son came along. Mikkjel's mother didn't realize his father was Loki until after he was born. Hurt by the deception, she purchased a new house and moved him and herself to a new town after, not wanting to be reminded of the place where she was tricked. As a single mother, she was left to raise Mikkjel alone with no support from her family. He was an obedient child growing up, always doing what his mother told him to do and did well in school. He had always admired her hard work and dedication to raising and providing for him by herself. With no father figure around, he came to his mother when he needed advice or for some other reason. His mother's family did visit once in a while though, and Mikkjel was grateful for having them in his life. As he got older, he and the rest of his family noticed a change within himself. He became more rebellious and mischievous, and enjoyed playing pranks. He also began to put in less effort into school and even skipping classes occasionally. He couldn't explain his change in behavior. He was always a good student, so he didn't know why it was happening. The biggest surprise though was the discovery of his powers. One day, he confided in his mother about what was going on. That was when she revealed Mikkjel's true heritage; that he was the son of Loki, although she wasn't aware at first since he was disguised. This shocked Mikkjel and he was angry at Loki for tricking his mother like that. He connected the dots though, and everything made sense to him at that moment. Sometime after this conversation, his mother met and fell in love with a man named Amund, and they married when Mikkjel was thirteen. He was glad to finally have a father figure in his life that he could look up to and was happy that his mother finally found someone that she loved. Like his mother, he changed his last name to his stepfather's in honor of their marriage. When Mikkjel was fifteen, his mother found out about the academy and decided to send him there in hopes of him being able to control his powers better.

Background

History: Nils was born to a human mother and Thor. When his mother was pregnant with him, she met his stepfather and they fell in love. Nils was born before they married, but he took his stepfather's last name, wanting to emphasize that Alrik was his father now. When he was two years old, his parents officially married, having a grand ceremony with his family. Background

History: Juniper was born to two Sky Foxes, the second oldest of quadruplets. Juniper's parents were already over a thousand years old by the time she and her siblings were born.
During her childhood, Juniper and siblings didn't see their parents that often, due to their duties and not being old enough to be with them. They were sent to live with a couple, the Dubois, who had no children of their own, so they were more than happy to raise the Vaccarelli siblings as their own. They loved the children dearly, and while not blood related, the siblings considered their adoptive parents a second family. Despite not being around much, their parents cared for their children and would send messages to Juniper and her siblings as a way to stay in touch them. When Juniper and her siblings were eighteen, they moved out of their adoptive parents' house, moving into a new home together on their own. They remained in touch with them, though, appreciating everything that they've done for the siblings. Six years later, when the siblings were twenty-four years old, their adoptive parents died, leaving them to mourn and grieve for them. After this, the siblings began to communicate with their parents more, informing them of Colette and Jules' deaths. Their parents expressed sympathy, supporting them in any way that they could. When Juniper and her siblings reached a thousand years in age, they became Sky Foxes and met their parents for the first time. They were ecstatic to finally be able to seem after such a long time. They worked alongside their parents, being trained by them and fulfilling their duties. Juniper told them about her and her siblings' adoptive parents, explaining how wonderful and caring they were, including their passing. Her parents expressed sympathy for them, stating that they knew they made the right choice to send them to the Dubois family. Background

History: Lucien was born the third oldest quadruplet to two Sky Foxes. But before we dive into the rest of his history, let's briefly discuss what a Sky Fox is.
In East Asian mythology, Sky Foxes are the most powerful form of Kitsune. They are usually depicted as having a golden fur color. It is said that when a Kitsune reaches a thousand years old, it is granted its ninth tail and transforms into a Sky Fox and ascends into the Heavens. This meant Lucien's parents were already over a thousand years old by the time he and his siblings were born.
Since his parents had to fulfill their duties, Lucien and his siblings were sent to live with the Dubois, a middle-aged couple with no children of their own. Lucien grew to love his adoptive parents and wanted to be around them at all times. He went to them for advice or if just needed someone besides his siblings to talk to. Lucien and his siblings were eighteen when they moved out of the Dubois' house and lived together in their new house. Six years later, their adoptive parents passed away, leaving them to grieve together.
When Lucien and his siblings reached their 100th birthday, they were finally able to reunite with their parents and fulfill their duties like they did. Their parents expressed sympathy when they revealed that the Dubois had died, comforting them in any way that they could.
Lucien and his siblings learned everything from Céline and Jacques and heard stories about their heritage and family from them.
Not long after reuniting with their parents, Lucien and his siblings heard about the academy. Together, they decided to apply for teaching positions and were accepted, much to their joy. They left their parents again, ready to start the next chapter of their lives and fulfill their new duties as teachers.

Background

History: Isla was born into a wealthy family of selkies. She and her brother were spoiled by their parents from an early age, giving them almost everything that she wanted. She never took it for granted do and appreciated everything that her parents had done to give her the best possible life. They loved their children, and, on the outside, were a perfect family. However, in private, things were very different. Isla's parents were constantly fighting and didn't get along that well. She hated hearing them argue and often went to her room to find some peace and quiet. When she was six, Isla's parents divorced. Her mother left, resulting in her and her brother to be raised by her father. She rarely saw her mother after this, which upset her, since they were close before. When she was nine years old, her father married his new wife, while her mother married her new husband. Background

History: Shuzhen was born into a middle-class family. Her parents had a strained relationship, resulting in the occasional argument. They divorced when she was only two years old, her mother moving out while Shuzhen remained with her father. She didn't see her mother much growing up, which hurt her. She never got a chance to really know her and form a relationship like a mother should with her child. One year after her parents' divorce, her father met a woman named Tingwei, who is the aunt of Tiffany Lin. They hit it off immediately and fell in love, marrying sometime later. Shuzhen was thrilled. She got along well with Tingwei, and she was exactly the mother figure that she needed in her life. A year after the wedding, Shuzhen gained a sister, and a few years later another. She was ecstatic to be an older sister. She had the family that she had always dreamed of. As she got older, Shuzhen experienced some strange events and eventually discovered her powers. She told her father and Tingwei about the situation, leading her father to reveal that he was a warlock. But, he was confused about the other abilities Shuzhen explained that she had developed. After contacting her mother about it, she said that she was a bakeneko, something that she never told her father while they were married, surprising both Shuzhen and her father. Sometime after this conversation, Shuzhen's mother informed her that she was getting married to man she met a year prior and that she was pregnant. She was surprised, but she supported her. Her mother invited her to the wedding, which she, her father, and Tingwei agreed to. It was a beautiful wedding, and Shuzhen saw that her mother was genuinely happy being with her new husband, which made her happy for her mother. After the wedding, Shuzhen and her mother spent a day together chatting and catching up with each other. She was glad to be able to bond with her mother then and get to know her better since she didn't see her much, With all of these big changes in her life, she struggled to maintain her identity as both a bakeneko and witch and had trouble controlling her powers. Her father and Tingwei, noticing this, knew that Tiffany was attending the academy with her other cousins. They suggested attending to her, knowing that she could benefit from being around teachers and other students like her. Shuzhen agreed and was excited. She was accepted and she packed her bags, thrilled to be at the school and being able to spend time with Tiffany again.

Background

History: Stella was born in Oregon into a Japanese American family. While the rest of her family had more traditional Japanese names, her parents decided to give her a name that honored her heritage as the daughter of Luna. Her father and mother raised her, leading her to believe that Akari was her birth mother. Stella grew up blissfully unaware that Luna was her true mother. As Stella got older though, she discovered her powers. Her suspicions weren't fully confirmed though until one night. Luna had visited her in a dream, saying that was proud of the daughter she had become. Confused, Stella jolted awake, deciding to tell her parents the next morning. When she told them about the dream, they decided to sit her down and tell her the truth; that her mother was Luna, goddess of the moon. They explained to her that they wanted children but struggled to conceive. One day, her father met Luna. Her parents agreed to let Luna carry Stella to birth, but around the same time, a miracle happened. Her mother was pregnant with her sister Yumi. When Stella and her sister were born, Luna and her parents agreed to raise them together as twins, with Rin and Akari caring for them while Luna resumed her duties. She was surprised to find out, but she still considered Yumi her twin, even though they technically weren't. After this, Luna continued to visit Stella in her dreams once in a while. She was always excited to see the goddess and talk to her, even though she wasn't physically there and didn't see her much. Personality: On the surface, Xinyi is a calm, cool, and collected person. She can come across as cold and intimidating, especially to those she doesn't know. She is introverted and doesn't open up to others that much. However, she's more open, social, and comfortable around those she knows and is more friendly and kind to them. Due to her past, she somewhat has trust issues, though she doesn't lack total trust in others. Once you prove yourself, you will earn Xinyi's trust and her friendship. She is loyal and very protective of the ones that she loves and cares for and is willing to stand up for them if she feels the need to. History: Xinyi was born the only child to Liu Haoyu and Wang Jiali in China. Her parents had a rocky marriage, resulting in her mother to sometimes drink as a way to handle the stress that she faced. Because of this, Xinyi had a strained relationship with her mother and disapproved of her drinking. Occasionally, Jiali drank to the point of being drunk, leading to even bigger fights with Haoyu. Xinyi did not like this side of her mother. A drunk Jiali was an angry Jiali, and she was terrified of her mother when this happened and would hide in her room until Jiali was sober again. When she was sober, her mother was a completely different person. She was a kind, caring, and devoted mother, always making sure that Xinyi was safe. Not when she was drunk. School was an escape for Xinyi. She was always glad to be at school so she could avoid witnessing the fights between her parents and her mother’s drunk behavior. When she would return home, it was as if nothing had happened and everything was normal. She knew that it wasn’t normal, though. Her parents were just trying to protect her so that she could have as normal of a childhood as she could. Not that she did anyway. She admired her father growing up, forming a close bond with him and was amazed at how he handled her mother’s behavior. When she asked him how one day, he simply smiled and said, “it’s because I love her.” Xinyi would never forget what he told her that day. Writing was another way for Xinyi to cope with her family life. She loved to create stories, writing versions of herself and the rest of her family in the way that she wanted them to be; normal and happy. When not studying for school or had free time, she would toil away in her notebook, writing stories at any chance she got. The stories that she came up with made her happy and they made her wish that she could be in them so she wouldn’t have to deal with her mother. But they made being able to handle her more bearable thanks to her imagination. She never shared these stories to her or her father, as they knew that it would upset them if they knew that she wasn’t happy. One day, when Xinyi was ten years old, something unexpected happened. Jiali revealed to her and her father that she was pregnant. With twins. Xinyi was ecstatic, having always wanted brothers and sisters. But one look at her father’s face said it all; he was furious, knowing that he wasn’t the father. He immediately demanded an explanation. Jiali revealed that she had been at a bar a month prior and met a man named David. They both got drunk and had an affair, resulting in her accidental pregnancy. Xinyi was shocked and heartbroken. She couldn’t believe that her mother would betray her and her father like that. After everything they’ve been through. Even if she was drunk, that wasn’t an excuse in her mind. She looked into her mother’s eyes, noticing tears stream down her face, knowing that she felt horrible and guilty about the situation. She glanced over at her father again, who remained silent as her mother spoke. Amazingly though, he had relaxed his anger. After a few moments, he finally spoke, saying that while he felt hurt, he forgave her, knowing that it was an accident. Jiali was relieved, explaining that she still loved him despite everything and promised to stop drinking. Though her relationship with her mother has improved since, she still feels hurt by her mother’s actions to this day. Xinyi was eleven when the twins were born, a brother, Levi, and a sister, Julie. With their father not around, she and her father raised them, with Haoyu acting as their real father. Despite the circumstances of their birth, Xinyi grew to love her new siblings and helped her parents care for them. Xinyi adored her siblings’ mischief and playfulness. They made her laugh with their harmless pranks, and even her parents, who tended to be strict, found humor in the twins’ antics. In a way, their birth was a blessing for them; they brought their family together and were closer than they ever have been. On Levi and Julie's sixth birthday, the Lius suddenly got a knock on the door. Jiali opened the door and was shocked by who it was; the twins’ father, David, who had somehow tracked down where the family lived and remembered Jiali, revealing her pregnancy to him at the time as well. He demanded that the twins be taken back to the Unites States under his care Her mother refused, disgusted at him for wanting to take them away when he wasn’t even around in their lives. He countered back, saying that it should be their decision. Xinyi, her father, and the twins overheard the conversation and went to intervene. Despite now knowing that David was their real father, Julie and Levi wanted to stay, citing that they had formed a close bond with Jiali and Haoyu. David left afterwards, saying that the offer was still there should they change their mind. After graduating high school, Xinyi entered college to pursue journalism, her childhood passion. She was a great student and hard worker and graduated four years later. While in college, she worked with a friend published one of her childhood stories at 20 years old under the name Jennifer Zhang. Later, she got a job working for a newspaper company in the United States. After learning this, Levi and Julie wanted to come with Xinyi so they could be together, and Jiali and Haoyu agreed. The three of them left, moving into an apartment together. Xinyi took care of them while she wasn't at work and their bond grew. Shortly after, Xinyi learned about the academy. She applied for a position as the science teacher's assistant, having a love for science as well. When she first got to the academy, she realized that there wasn't a newspaper club at first. Wanting to change that, she talked to the principal and vice principal to get the approval of a school newspaper. They agreed and put Xinyi in charge since she came up with the idea. Now, she still works at the academy as head of the newspaper club as well and loves every minute of it.

Xinyi Liu Relationships

Wang Jiali (NPC): Xinyi always had a strained relationship with her mother growing up due to Jiali's drinking, which Xinyi disapproved of. However, it has slowly improved since her mother stopped drinking. Xinyi is still hurt by her mother's past actions but has learned to move on from it. She still loves and cares for her mother, but she tends to keep her distance from her.

Liu Haoyu (NPC): Xinyi is closer with her father than she is with her mother. She loves him and has always looked up to him since she was a kid. She admires how kind and forgiving he is and wanted to be like him someday. They share a close bond to this day and goes to him for advice when she needs it.

Cho Miyasaki (@Kyleigh): Xinyi respects Cho, the vice principal of the academy. She considers Cho a friend and is part of the reason why Xinyi was able to get the newspaper club running. When not working, they occasionally hang out at the cafe for a coffee and casual chats.

Evelina Göthberg (@Kyleigh): Xinyi has deep respect for her coworker Eva. She is one of the few people she feels comfortable opening up to and has a lot trust in her.
