Maxine D'India Aeschleman | 5 comments Tastes Like War by Grace Cho. This is a heart wrenching memoir about a half Korean Half white girl that grows up with a schizophrenic mother. She tries to get her help but struggles as mental illness is not taken seriously in 1980’s America. During that time the leadership of America closed down most of the hospitals that helped the mentally ill leaving only enough open to help 12% of the remaining patient population.
The rest are taken to jail or become homeless.

She discovers much about her mother after her death and the book is about navigating racial tensions, mental illness and loss. This book is a National Book Award Finalist. Worth the read.

brellelan | 2 comments twisted games. honestly loved it so much more then twisted love. i didn’t really feel connected to the characters more i enjoyed it. it was a fun read. i annotated so heavily with the little tidbit of lines that were cute or just made my heart melt. the spice was also really good. i sometimes look over or cringe at certain sayings or lines. but this was just a little more readable. def excited to finish the rest of the series!

Mickenzie The Lost Apothecary, it has an enticing idea for the theme, but the storyline was pretty poor. Not worth the read tbh.
