Yvonne Garside | 11 comments I just finished "Mrs. Quinn's Rise to Fame" is an enjoyable novel. I took a break from reading several heavy-themed books and selected this. Mrs. Quinn is a woman in her 70's who was selected to compete on a cooking show. Of course, there were other sub-plots woven into this book. Witty, relationship oriented and full of unexpected happenings. Loved this book. Easy to read. Complicated characters with a past that intertwined the present. I fell in love with the characters. Loved the ending! Highly recommend!

Molly (mollyreilly) | 4 comments The Bee Sting, and I loved it for all the reasons I love books; I was lost in the story, and I empathized with the characters, in this case, the 4 protagonists and more. It kept me on the edge of my seat, filled with so many bad decisions and tragedies, yet I remained hopeful, or there was always a way to see hope and see the light in general, if not for the character.

It was my first Paul Murray book, and I'll be reading more. He's a master storyteller and writer. The Bee Sting is a great read about family and small-town life, told with humor, tension, and a deep understanding of human nature.

message 1210: by Nandita (new)

Nandita 'The room on the roof' by Ruskin Bond. I dnfd it twice before finally picking it up and read it all the way through. Loved it. A very profound, emotional book that seems very shallow at the start, but the impact it leaves is anything but. The protagonist isn't written in a way that is likable or pleasant, but rather in the raw, genuine way that teenagers actually are.

Kristine | 284 comments I’ve been into thrillers lately. Read The Housemaid (The Housemaid, #1) by Freida McFadden , The Housemaid's Secret (The Housemaid, #2) by Freida McFadden , and The Housemaid Is Watching (The Housemaid, #3) by Freida McFadden by Freida McFadden. Fun and Fast Paced Reading, just turn the pages and don’t think too deeply about the plot. Overall, enjoyed these books.

Then last one was Before We Were Innocent by Ella Berman , Ella Berman. A Mystery about the death of a friend set in Greece 10 years prior. Then the two remaining friends Ella and Joni are back together in another complex situation. Really, a character study on what draws us to people and what could be toxic. Intriguing Book.
