Do you keep notes while you read? Do you ever keep a reading journal?

I occasionally collect quotes on my tumblr, and every so often I try to keep a reading journal. When I do, I always enjoy the experience, but usually I forget to bring along the notebook after a bit and the habit never sticks. I may try to keep a reading journal during the winter interreadathon months this time.

Emma | 168 comments I only take notes when I'm studying. For normal recreational reading I have never takes notes.

I keep track of all the books I read on GR and that is it

Sara Grace | 24 comments I have a reading journal that I keep track of what I read in a year, but other than that I don't take notes.

Laura H | 169 comments Sometimes on the kindle I go crazy making notes, but usually never reread them. Of things I find interesting, funny, or think might be important to the plot, or might want to learn more about a topic.

Vicki Willis | 510 comments I have a cute journal where I plan and record my reading for the year and also my challenges.
But I don't do anything else with it.
I mostly like cute journals and dozens of pens. :)

Sarah (morr_books) | 116 comments I've often toyed with the idea of keeping a reading journal, especially since I participate in so many book clubs. I own two reading journals that I have never used. Maybe that will be a resolution for 2023.

I used to have a reading journal. Now I go through the quotes or other people notes here on goodreads when I have time. So nice to see people noting the same things as I did!

Lena | 364 comments I usually keep notes for Fantasy books, self help books, and books with lots of characters (so I can keep track).

message 10: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa Dargain | 503 comments I usually make page number notes on the book I read , but they are not as formal as an entry in a reading journal .
Sometimes I list characters too ,
if the book is long or has many players .

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 57 comments I don't usually take notes, but I plan to, so I can remember some details.

Ash (essentiallyash) | 12 comments I don't take notes, though I should because I have the memory of a goldfish and that makes reviewing books a little difficult. I want to be one of those people who like add tabs and sticky notes and notes in the book, but honestly that's a lot of work lol.

message 13: by Beth (new)

Beth | 190 comments I've taken notes occasionally, but not as a regular thing. I've just started keeping a journal. I haven't really used it as a reading journal yet, but I think I will soon.

message 14: by Cathy (new)

Cathy (cathepsut) | 567 comments I take notes on my iPad whilst reading and use them to write me review at the end.
