Jenni Elyse (jenni_elyse) I know I've written a review for Twilight here before, but I decided I'd write another one since I just finished rereading it.

I adore Twilight, everything about it actually. I love the story, the sexual tension, and the characters. I love the banter between Bella and Edward. I love Meyer’s description of Forks and the Olympic Peninsula. Having been there, the book reminds me of its beauty as I read. I love the Quileute legends in the story and love Meyer’s take on vampiric lore.

I know many people think Twilight is a joke and I'm okay if people feel that way. Twilight will always have a special place in my heart, though, because it's the reason I read as much as I do. When I first read it in 2007, I only read one maybe two books each year. Once I read Twilight, I usually read no less than 30 books a year if I'm not in a reading slump due to my mental health issues.

For this reread, I listened to the audiobook. I've discovered that listening to favorites is helping me as I navigate PTSD therapy. Listening to a story I love helps me regulate my emotions and get back in a good headspace.

Sue | 2713 comments Glad you enjoyed the re-read!

I've been re-reading some favorites recently as well and I'm always a little nervous going in. Asking myself: What if I don't like it as much this time?

I love audio books as well. I hadn't listened to any in a few years, then learned I could get them for free at the library. Life changing!!

KateNZ | 4099 comments I love the Twilight books too, Jenny Elyse, particularly the first one. I know people like to pan the series and I can see why in many ways, but I don’t care - it appeals to my unreserved romantic side and it’s imaginative.

So glad you’re enjoying your favourite re-reads and that they are doing you good. I’m re-reading Harry Potter at the moment which I know is another favourite of yours as well as mine. I’ve discovered the audiobooks in German - they are at times hilariously well done!

Meli (melihooker) | 4165 comments I am right there with ya, girl!

Vampire stories are my absolute favorite subgenre of horror. This month I am reading a horror short story everyday and I have read several vampire stories and overwhelmingly they most often have, and always have had, a romantic element. It wasn't until modern vampire stories that they became these more action packed kinda showdowns. So it's always perplexed me when people are like "Twilight ruined vampires!" Or "vampires shouldn't sparkle!" Clearly these people aren't well versed in vampire lore. Dracula was obsessed with Mina because she resembled his long lost love and he wanted her romantically. I could go on and on.

Arguably Twilight is much more romance than horror, but it is such a fun story for all the reasons you mentioned.

Jenni Elyse (jenni_elyse) Sorry I haven't responded. I've been offline for a bit due do an injury. I'm starting to feel better now finally.

I'm glad to find kindred spirits who love Twilight too. :D And, I am glad to have discovered audiobooks.

Sue, I totally get why you ask yourself that question. It's legitimate to worry about not loving something as much as you once did. I've felt that way about a couple of books and even Twilight at one time because I was letting all the negativity seep into how I felt.
