Hi everyone,

How many of you remember the 1996 storm-chasing movie "Twister" starring Helen Hunt and the late Bill Paxton? That storm chasing movie is anticipated for a 2023 sequel called "Twisters" in 2023. Amblin and Universal Pictures is meeting with many possible directors to move this project forward, including a possible return of actress Helen Hunt.

How do you feel about another "Twister" should the original concept be left alone or would you welcome a sequel with new special effects? I'm not sure how I feel without Bill Paxton or Helen Hunt. However, I have to admit I did like the original movie.

Have a good day.

Sincerely,

-Donna

Colton CW (neuroticcat) | 71 comments Hi Donna. I hadn't heard they were making a sequel/rebooting Twister. Though knowing Hollywood I'm not surprised. The original Twister is not the "best" movie ever but it's very fun and enjoyable. And it spawned a ton of imitators and other disaster movies that are not nearly as good. I remember watching it maybe around 2000 when I was old enough to watch it, and I remember the visual effects looked so good at the time. It looks not as good now but given when it was made it's pretty impressive.

I honestly do not have high hopes for a sequel... Not only is Bill Paxton no longer alive, I just think it's been too long and it would probably just be a basic disaster movie like all the others now...

Hi Colton,

I hear they are trying to find a director for the movie to proceed. It will be interesting to see how it all ends up. I will miss not seeing Bill Paxton in it. Without them as the primary couple will be missing.

We seem to be in a time of "reboot" culture and easier to reboot something vs. creating something new. The reboots seldom work for me, but, I'm always willing to give something a try.

The first movie was a good one to watch. I was of course, cheering for them to see "Dorothy" fly.

Have a good day.

Sincerely,

-Donna
