Any other topics you’d like to discuss? Your overall opinion of the story?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3485 comments I liked the story, but it wasn't one of my favorites. The characters were great. Merritt and Keir fit perfectly with good chemistry. There was just enough indecision in their relationship to keep it interesting.

I was disappointed with the Ormonde arc. I was expecting a little more "edge-of-my-seat" suspense. Also, I was expecting a showdown between Sebastian and Ormonde. He was there one page, dead the next—very anti climatic.

I loved this series, and I'm sorry to see it end. I wish I had purchased the audiobooks instead of borrowing them from the library. I would listen to them again. I'll watch for them the next time audible has a big sale.

Thanks for introducing me to Linda Kleypas. All of my reading friends know her. I don't know how they kept me in the dark.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I have to agree with Sharon. It was a good story, but not a favorite for me. Merritt and Keir were both great characters. My favorite parts of the story were the older generation getting to know Keir.

A lot of this story was predictable. It was still entertaining, but nothing very original.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments I also would have loved to see a throw down between Sebastian and Ormonde, that was the only part of the book that just didn't feel properly resolved.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments I did love this story but I agree with Anita. I would have liked to see a confrontation between Sebastian and Ormonde.

Sharon, I quit reading romance, particularly historical romance back in the days when it was all bodice rippers. About twelve years ago when I joined Shelfari, I asked for recommendations of newer stuff and Kleypas topped everyone’s list. Her two series, Wallflowers and The Hathaways were my first historical romances in over 20 years. To this day, they’re the series I recommend when asked. And, I’m glad it was helpful for you to go back and listen to Wallflowers before resuming this one.

I loved Merritt and Keir as characters and their romance. Everything about this story worked except the rushed ending. That’s what made it 4 versus 5 stars. I enjoyed the series as a whole and am happy we read it as a group.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1812 comments I loved the book, especially the romance and catching up on the Challons and the Marsdens.

I agree that the suspense could have been better, but this did not effect my enjoyment of the book over all.
