I wasn't surprised. Today it is realistic, although more of a fantasy for the time. I'm guessing. However, women did enjoy discreet affairs at the time.

I could see that coming as soon as she invited him to dinner. It was a bit unrealistic (for the time) after only knowing him one night. I thought Merritt would have got to know him a little more before jumping into bed.
