Not at all. The attack just happened. I thought Garrett participated in small talk to take Merritt's mind off Keir's injury. I knew it was a clue that Ethan was a part of this story, but I didn't know Ethan's current job had anything to do with Keir's wound.
I assumed that the reason Ethan was sent to Scotland by Sebastian had to do with Keir. I figured Sebastian needed more information after he recognized Keir at Jenners.

I was sure that it was Sebastian who has dispatched Nathan. After recognizing Keir, he needed more information about him and his parentage.
It was a “wait a minute!” moment for me, enough that I rewound to hear it again. Yes, I thought the two were connected.
