Your mods took Sunday off from our Question of the Week, so we decided to add a mid-week question instead.

Your moderators have brainstormed quite a few questions to use as QotW, but we’re also interested in any ideas you might have for questions to spark our QotW discussion each week. Please share any ideas you have in this topic thread and, who knows, you might see your idea pop up on a Sunday in the future!

Questions should relate somehow to reading, books, science fiction, fantasy, etc.

PLEASE do NOT answer each other’s questions in this topic thread. We are just brainstorming ideas to use in the future.

Nyssa | 213 comments QUESTION:
Part 1 - What makes you mark a book as DNF (Did Not Finish)?
Part 2 - Is there a certain number of pages or a percentage that must be met before considering marking a book as DNF ( For instance, at least 50 pages or 25% read)?
Part 3 - Do you count DNF books as "read"?

Lindsey | 415 comments What was a favorite childhood book that has stuck with you into adulthood?
How many "special" editions of books do you own (illustrated, leatherbound, first edition, signed, etc.)? What made you acquire them?
What is your favorite/least favorite trope in sci-fi/fantasy? (this could be 4 separate questions.)

1) Do you have a guilty pleasure book? A book you are almost ashamed to admit to others that you love to read? Or maybe its an author or genre instead? Are you passionate about Dr Who slash fic?

2) Where is your favorite place to read? Or what have been your favorite places to read over the years? (Have we answered something like this before? I'm unsure.)

3) What is it about reading that you love? Specifically talking about reading for pleasure, not stuff we read just to function in day to day life.

4) A book that you are interested in is being made into a movie or TV series. What is your preference? Do you stick with just the book? Or just watch the movie/show? If both, do you have a preference on which you watch/read first?

5) What was the earliest book you can remember that had a big impact on you? What was the impact?
