Oh! I just read this last year for uni. I'd be interested to know what you thought of the end. Apparently my take on it was veeeeery odd and no one else interpreted it the way I did.

Because the ending is so open to interpretation take mine with a grain of salt! The ending to me bore a lot of hope, pain, and anger, but also new life. A never ending cycle of injustice, with a tinge of “maybe there will be change.” Im soooo curious to hear your take on it!

I think she died in childbirth.
I don't fully remember my argument and the quotes I used (and bleh to going over my uni notes while on break. LOL) but there was something about the kid crying at the end (I think it was repeated nine times, or something, and it being worded about 'waking the dead') and Tish saying her time had come. The omnipresent narrative positioning was also a tell for me. She was telling the reader about things she wasn't there to witness, as if she was floating through time and space. The POV also changed at the very end, from Tish's 1st person narration to 3rd person. As if she was no longer there to tell the story.

It's a collection of witty stories with twists that will make you smile or laugh with surprised delight.
For adults and children from age nine. Don’t miss this rare jewel!
