Authors with books published in multiple languages should have their names dealt with similarly to those with pen names. All editions should have the primary author name as the standard or most common Roman (that is, English-language) version of the author's name. Editions published under another spelling of the name or the name in another language should have that name listed as the secondary author. Different editions of a book not having the same primary author can cause quite a few distinct problems. Please keep the primary author for all editions of a work the same.

I appreciate the guidance. If I've interpreted that correctly, an English-language edition such as https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... should have her name as Yrsa Sigurdardottir (it is currently shown as Sigurðardóttir) and the original Icelandic-language edition should have Sigurdardottir as primary and Sigurðardóttir as secondary.

Looking at the Icelandic profile https://www.goodreads.com/author/show... it seems that most editions listed are non-Icelandic and are consistently Sigurdardottir on the front cover (give or take an accent over the "o" in some cases), so I think this is against the guidance? But given there are 31 distinct works and each seems to be fairly widely translated, that's a lot of changes! https://www.goodreads.com/work/editio... for example has 5 Icelandic editions and 64 non-Icelandic (for which I assume the author is the Roman version of the author's name in most if not all cases). Is it possible/preferable to just change the profile name to the Roman form and then add an Icelandic profile for those (Icelandic) editions that need it? Or is it a bulk add of one of the two Roman profiles to every associated edition and delete it for the Icelandic ones?

I think the other two Roman profiles (https://www.goodreads.com/author/show... and https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...) should either be none or one depending on the solution to the 747437 profile and the associated books are non-distinct when considered with the non-Icelandic versions shown in 747437.

Thanks - this has turned out to be more complicated than I anticipated!

Someone had merged the English profiles, contrary to the policy linked in #2.

I've changed the main profile to Yrsa Sigurdardottir and added Yrsa Sigurðardóttir as secondary author on the Icelandic editions.

Created the third author profile: Yrsa Sigurdardóttir and will add that one to other books with this variant on the cover.

The combines from the first post were already done by someone.
The duplicate series were already deleted by someone.
