Any other topics you’d like to discuss? Your overall opinion of the story? The series?

FYI, Brennan responded to my tweet of the review and said, “ I hope to return to the series as well someday! I love these characters.”

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I liked this series and I'm glad I read it. I was a little worried when we started this series because of Lucy's PTSD and the fact that her rape was brought up in all of the early books. I understand this would impact the character in a big way, but I was worried there would be too much time spent on Lucy's mental health. Thankfully she got help with the PTSD and her memories of the rape and killing the rapist weren't what drove each book. After that I really started getting into the stories.

So, which books were favorites for everyone? I absolutely loved Make Them Pay where Liam and Eden kidnapped Lucy. My other favorite was Cold as Ice where Sean was arrested for murder. Both stories relied on a great deal of history in the series and brought back many characters. And both were "edge of your seat" stories.

That’s amazing, Robin! Those are my two most favorite for the same reasons. I couldn’t stop listening and they wore me out.

I’ve loved the focus on family, warts and all, as we watched these characters grow, bond and mature. It’s fitting that it pauses on this story and the one before where all of them had to come together and work to save Sean. I still question whether Lucy can work with Rachel again and if the series moves forward, I’d love to see changes at the top. It’s hard to believe that Lucy could just go back and work like trust isn’t a major issue.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments I loved the focus on family too. Neither family was perfect, With the exception of Liam and Eden the kids all turned out great.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I really liked this series, and I hope we see them again in the future.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments Family is very important in this series. Some of the situations like Duke waiting for Sean to screw up, or Lucy's oldest sister not being able to talk to her years after her son's death, felt like situations that would happen in real life.

Jonetta, I agree about Lucy (and Nate) working with Rachel. I doubt it will continue to run smoothly. I keep thinking she will decide to move on or will be transferred to another city.

I was sad when it was mentioned that Brad Donnelly was being pressured to retire. He's been through a lot. Maybe the DEA would worry about his response to certain situations.

Great examples, Robin. They did feel like normal family dust ups.

Good point, Anita. And that’s kind of normal, too.

It feels like Brennan is at a crossroads with these characters. I don’t want to see Brad retire either but that just might be realistic for the type of job he’s in. Lucy and Nate face a real issue going back to San Antonio and he made his feelings clear.

Stay tuned!

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments It is realistic that Brad would not return to active field work. He has had two near misses and even if his head is on straight, his 40+ year old body took a terrible beating. I just don't see how he returns to active duty.

The situation with Rachel is definitely problematic. Lucy was on thin ice with her before and I don't see how what happened improving the situation. For sure someone has to go.

Agree, totally, Anita.
