Lucy asked Sean to attend the law enforcement conference in Sacramento with her, thinking it would boost his spirits. But Jack pointed out that being around a bunch of cops after what he’d experienced might not be all that appealing to Sean. Why do you think that never occurred to Lucy?

Robin (robinmy) | 2478 comments Lucy wasn't seeing law enforcement in the same way as Sean. Sean's experience is with some corrupt cops who have caused him some trouble in his life. Lucy is part of law enforcement and knows that most of them are solid citizens that do a good job. It just doesn't occur to her until Jack mentions it.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2993 comments It wasn't only law enforcement Sean would be around. Family and friends would be there also, and I think that Lucy hoped to get help getting Sean out of his funk and him opening up about what was wrong. Like Robin, I don't think it even occurred to Lucy that it might be a problem for Sean.

As rogue as Sean used to be, he always respected law enforcement and thought that he’d earned their trust. The Houston PD really failed him, led by a detective who seemed more interested in proving him guilty than solving the case, even trusting a convicted drug dealer and murderer over him. And, the San Antonio FBI office turned their back on him and Lucy. Yeah, he had some serious trust issues with law enforcement. He was also embarrassed.
