THE LOST PRINCESS — claimed by Aubree

Saved from the massacre at her mother's coronation when she was only a baby, the Lost Princess knows not of her true identity. She grew up in the family of some influential revolutionaries in the capital city, never knowing that the Queen and King who were executed when she was a mere child were her birth parents. Twenty-one years later, a group of people loyal to the old regime discover her identity and come to her to convince her to retake the throne, she isn't sure what to believe. She has freedom as an upper class citizen with a voice... does she really want to give that up to return to an aging system?

THE CAPTIVE PRINCE — claimed by Jayla

A boy when the Revolution occurred, the Prince has few, but precious memories of his parents and his life before. While his parents were executed via firing squad, he was instead held captive. Since then, the New Regime has poisoned his mind in attempts to get him to succumb to their indoctrination. Realizing that he has been holding too tightly to the memories of his parents, they have resorted to more inhumane means of getting him to comply to their wishes. The Prince has no idea that his younger sister is alive.

The elected leader of the New Regime. Although (s)he wishes for a prosperous nation, (s)he constantly fears a return to the monarchy. (S)he is leading a new, independent land that still has to prove itself to the rest of the world. And if the last blood of the Royal Family is on her side... then they might take her/him more seriously.

Not corrupt like the President is, the Vice President is far more idealistic about the outcome of recent events. Wishes to make peace with the Prince and let him free under the circumstances of him never trying to start a rebellion, but her/his ideas have always been vetoed.

THE PRETENDER PRINCESS — claimed by Kit

The pretender princess is actually a commoner who's suffering from a disease or condition that she's going to die from. She's unhappy with her lot in life and when the National Pravitel Socialist Party came to her requesting her help, she agreed. Her role is to retake the throne as Princess Irinushka, be crowned Irinushka IV, and be killed and overthrown by the National Pravitel Socialist Party. She's going to die anyway, right?

Ideas For Character: (it doesn't have to be many, you just need to have something) Son of the Captain of the Guard and friend of the captive prince, he swore a blood vow as a young boy to do all he could to keep the prince safe and swore fealty to the crown. Now a young man, he will stop at nothing to rightfully see the royalty re-instated. Ambitious, clever, and incredibly secretive.

She waited a few seconds, simply seeing, not afraid to stare into his eyes with her own pale ones. In the shadows they looked blue, but when walking towards him in the sunlight, they were mint green. Inpenetrable. Grounded. She knew. Because she saw, she knew there was more to him than the openness and kindness. The truth was, every person was double edged. Good. Evil. They were finely balanced, but most only saw one or the other. She saw both. A rare talent. She knew that his slim form could take on more than what it seemed, just as he knew that hers had gone through more than even the strongest could usually bear. Like metal, she had been cast into the fire, been melted and cooled into another being altogether. Not unbreakable. But close. And then--

"What do you know about metalworking?"

So she worked with metals. He should've guessed. Those fingers were used both to destroy and create. Clearly, she was adept. Did she need an apprentice? No, she didn't. So why was she asking? Why had she come over from the place, the place she was waiting? Why had she come and found something she wasn't searching for in the first place?
It was irrelevant. The answers to his own questions could come later. His questions were empty. But hers, hers had come with the promise of an offer. Now, she waited. Waited for an answer. What do you know about metalworking?

What was the answer to that? What did he know? He knew how to forge a sword, how to make it sharp, so sharp that even a 2 year old could kill a man by simply gently prodding it at his stomach. He knew how to make knives which could be thrown extreme distances if the wielder knew how, which could cut the throat of a man meters and meters away while the thrower remained hidden behind a chimney or the foilage of an oak tree. He could smelt the exact ores, in the exact ratios, to create beautiful metals that never rusted, all to be used in the art of killing. Forming, cutting, joining. He knew it all. His slim fingers were deft, his mind sharper than the blades he forged. But she didn't have to know that. Behind the cover of his eyes, he swallowed back the sea of information, and said only what she needed to hear.

Ideas For Character: Alright so I was thinking she's going to be extremely corrupt like her parent, and completely blind to the faults of the new world, and such. I thought maybe a love affair with the captive prince, or a loyalist spy or something of that sort? I'm just spitballing at the moment, sorry >.<
RP Example: (view spoiler)[Alise was done her classes for the day. Finally. It had seemed to take forever, an endless drone of teachers talking and then calling on her every time to answer a question (they always picked her. Every time. Most of them, at least, some would only pick her a little bit more than the other students. But most persisted in asking her questions). Unfortunately for her, she'd nearly fallen asleep in science class (they'd been talking about the photosynthesis of a certain type of plant, or some other topic). She'd hadn't known the answer, but luckily she had perked up at the sound of her name and had bluffed her way through it.

In English, she was rather ashamed to say she hadn't even tried. That was one of the teachers who called on her less than usual, and she'd had a book hidden under her desk the entire class, reading. It wasn't the greatest book, a rather trashy romance novel (one of those ones with a shirtless guy on the cover, and with a dreadful title like "Sunset Dreams,") but it was better than listening to the teacher talk.

Currently, she was heading up to her dorm with her rather large stack of books, hoping to get to dinner early. She had her biology textbook, the aforementioned romance novel, another novel she'd finished during lunch, her diary journal (safely tucked inside the biology textbook) and a couple books on manners and foreign trade policies that had been pressed upon her by various staff members throughout the day.

Her hair was down, as she usually wore it, because her neck was always cold. Always. Came with being an Isen, she supposed. She hated wearing her hair up, although everyone insisted she looked wonderful in dreadful braided and curled updos that took a couple hours out of her morning routine to get right. She preferred it down.

She was wearing a silver headband (Isen colour, as it was regulation to wear something of your colour), and a blue dress she was rather fond of because it swished when she walked. A grey cardigan, of course, to keep her arms warm, and black flats. She'd opted out of heels for today, because her feet were still aching from when she'd tried to wear ridiculously high ones a few days ago. (hide spoiler)]

Ideas For Character: (it doesn't have to be many, you just need to have something) A woman who honestly believes that the new republic is worth the whatever was lost-- strangely idealistic, cunning, and incredibly charismatic. Contradictory of nature. Supports utilitarian methods-- whatever benefits the greatest amount of people goes, and yet she is unafraid to be deceptive behind other's backs and cares a great deal about her reputation. Incredibly ambitious, in the small chance that she ever comes down, she is determined to take everyone down with her.

(view spoiler)[Impulsively, Eden stood up, intertwined her fingers with Claudia's, and walked out gracefully and firmly, giving a slight curtsy to the royal table and not once loosening her grip on Claudia's hand, turning both their knuckles white. She did not say a word, but simply led Claudia out into the hall, the charm still present, not giving the other girl much of a choice, the pressure in her hand enough of a warning, a threat, an encouragement, she did not know, she did not care.

Once out in the hall, she turned and found it thankfully empty and it was here she loosened her grip and looked at Claudia, the facade blinked away in an instant, and her face was filled with raw desperation, a plea of friendship, of forgiveness, and yet, somehow still, of an immense source of power. Forget the fountain of eternal youth, all Eden searched for was freedom, and it seemed, that in this instant she had found it. Her voice was low as she began to speak, but never had the fire been more apparent, and this time, it was real.

"I'm sorry, Claudia. I know I seem no better than the rest of them, I'm just as showy, just as fitted and molded, striving for perfection, whatever the hell that may be, and I'm sorry but this is me. The real me. And I need you to know that oh my god, I know. I know thinking that you are worth something, just an inkling of something, and wanting love, wanting to believe in such a thing so badly, and one day, a day I can't even remember, you realize you are nothing but an object, a toy that someone wants to use and discard and you look back and see the pain in your life and the pain in others' life and you think that you. cannot. go. on." It was true, but there was a lie.

Because Eden never forgot. When she said I can't remember, it was her way of saying I want to forget. She remembered, oh yes, she remembered six days after her fourteenth birthday when the paintings in her great room had been slashed and they found Brooklyn Fitz with the animal in her eyes and the knife terrifyingly close to her wrists. Armitage had been there, too, but Eden could not remember what he was doing, only that she sobbed out a Mom, please, STOP and her mother had turned and screamed that Eden Vendetta Lindquist had no f**king right to speak, that she was a product of this, that she did not know pain, that she was loved, oh, yes, she was loved, and she did not deserve this, any of this. The general's face had turned to stone and his voice was not ice, like usual, but thunder, lightning, pure energy, pure terror as he quietly said-- Enough, and he had scooped Eden into his arms for the first time in years and held her as if arms around the shaking shoulders could cure her.

The girl did not cry because her mother had said such things. She had cried because she knew they were true, that Eden Vendetta deserved so much less than compliments, that the power she was seeking didn't even belong to her, that this, whatever this was between her parents could easily been torn to shreds if it had not been for her, for her life, for her career, for her soul, for her everything. She knew. Eden knew all right. Three years, she had craved power, craved worth, craved something to prove that she was not a mere product, and a terribly botched up one with deadly consequences at that.

But now, she saw that power did not come from searching for something to show you your worth. Proving yourself. It came from knowing you were not alone, and that desperation, seeing the crumpling and smoothing of Claudia's face, that had proved to Eden enough. Enough, General Lindquist had said, and after three years, yes, it was finally enough. (hide spoiler)]

Ideas for Character: I sort of want Second to help find, groom, and ultimately seduce the pretending princess. He is a man who has lived by an honor.
RP Example: (view spoiler)[Swirling the glass of red wine, Augustus stood in his tailcoat discussing some business with a couple of distinguishable men. He smiled lightly as he watched him and sipped his red wine. Oh yes, he knew these men. He knew a good amount of them were losing all their wealth because of their own foolish nonsense. And Augustus, knew that if he wasn’t among the wealthiest men in this ball, they would not have even approach him as they have done. He glanced around the room, many ladies and gentlemen danced while others were consumed with conversation.

“Gentlemen, this is a ball. Let us discontinue this talk of business and enjoy the beautiful night and perhaps dance with one of the young ladies.” Augustus finally said, interrupting the whole conversation just as it was getting heated. He slowly walked away from the men and began moving about the room. Looking for an appropriate partner before another gentlemen approaches him to begin a business discussion.

“Lord Breckenridge, it is so refreshing to see you at a ball.” Lady Diana, wife of Lord Gregory spoke as she stood in front of him. Behind her stood her most likely eligible daughter and Lady Victoria, wife of Lord Grant, beside her.

“Yes, well I couldn’t very well say no to such a grand ball.” Augustus said with charming smile.

“And thank heavens you did. Oh please, let me introduce my daughter. This is Genevieve.” Lady Diana said bring forth her daughter who was as handsome as any other girl.

“Please to meet you Lady Genevieve. Would you care to dance with me?” Augustus asked her after taking her hand. It was the easiest way to get away from Lady Diana and escape Lady Victoria’s attempt to introduce her daughters.

“Yes.” Genevieve answered softly with a nod and Augustus took her away to the ballroom floor to dance. (hide spoiler)]

Ideas for Character: Perhaps she is installed into the enemies circle and manipulating one person in particular.
RP Example: (view spoiler)[The crystal chandeliers hung high above the ballroom floor. Illuminating the large spectrum of people that danced merrily. Lillian had for the most part of the ball, remained in one area simply observing the dancers. Her facial expression remained perfectly posed. After all, she was a lady, that and her mother stood close by glancing in-between her very suspenseful conversation with Lady Diana. No doubt gossiping about the royals or anyone worthy of noting and whatever scandal they were in. And although, Lillian loved her mother ever so dearly, she was most certainly disinterested in the ball.

Lillian found extravagant balls such as these to be completely useless and a waste of time. The only amount of joy she found came from watching her soon-to-be married sister happy with her groom as they danced. Then, of course, there were her other sisters, whom were acting as silly as can be but Lillian did not have the heart to correct their manners. She simply stood in her same spot, waiting for the night to end and hoping to the heavens that no other man would ask her to dance.

She had the great displeasure of having to dance with Lord Wellington earlier with his sweaty hands and constant blabbing. Not only that, but he continually attempted to pull her into other people’s conversations ever-so-rudely. When she had finally escaped him by calculatively sticking him with Aunt Lorraine who never stopped talking and would never let anyone leave her side once she began. She was finally free to remain alone for the evening. At least she hoped. (hide spoiler)]

Now there were plenty of ways that Leonal could've reacted to the information avalanche that Kennedy had just thrust upon him. Ways that were probably more eloquent and even ways that were more vulgar than how he reacted. At least he didn't turn around right away and throw up because his twin just said that she was in love with Jacob. Yeah...maybe she wasn't girl Leo so much after all. And yet Leonal reacted in the only way his scrambling brain could.

"That bastard."

Because yeah. It was one thing to break him and Katrina up. That he could handle. It was one thing to go to the dance with Katrina after rumors of the two spending a long time in her dorm room together. It was another thing all together to hurt his twin sister. Because blood? Was thicker than water and Leonal would've moved mountains for Kennedy. So the fact that the asshole Jacob McAllister was ignoring his twin sister for Katrina? Yeah. That was crossing a line. But still, Leonal wasn't going to suddenly run off to find the prick, because Kennedy was obviously upset. And she took precedence over everything else.

So Leo did what he did best. He pulled his twin into a hug and laughed slightly. "Well you know. I have to say I'm a little relieved because I thought you were into Kale and I was worried there." Laughing slightly he smiled a bit, trying to get Kenna to cheer up before she ruined her make up. Which was why the hug only lasted a few seconds before he pulled away and smiled down at his twin. "And Jacob? Is a herpes infected idiot if he's picking Katrina over you. I mean lookit you! All dazzled up. You might even look as good as I do." (hide spoiler)]

Oddly enough, that was something both had in common. Implications got them no where with their family. For Vince? Implications got him dragged to a Hoffman concert where he spent the entire time with ear plugs in and making up continued excuses to get away from his freaks for parents. Implications with Aurelia though? Well he'd discovered most people were smart enough to figure them out. Obviously the Hoffmans were an exception to this general understanding seeing as Shae was standing there scolding him about implying things, but at the same time she'd corrected him so sharply she obviously didn't want to hear the blunt statement of it either.

"It wasn't something she came up with all on her own. Maple syrup? Right after I commented about your lips tasting like maple syrup? It's incredibly pathetic how high you seem to hold yourself in regards to me Shaleah. Thinking you're so much better just because you're a Hoffman." To someone else? It might have been funny, but Vince? wasn't a prank kind of person, so to him it was a simple act of inconvenience. "But if you're so sure she acted alone, tell her to leave me alone because I'm sick and tired of dealing with you annoying Hoffmans. I'm done with you. With your brother. And Emelia may not be a Hoffman? But I'm done with her as well. So tell her to leave me alone, Hoffman."

And Vince? Usually he was pretty good at keeping his cool around Shaleah. Yet for some reason? Right now? His blood was practically boiling. And he couldn't quite explain why. All he knew was that he had to leave now or he was going to do something stupid. Something he would most definitely regret. So he turned on his heel and started walking in the opposite direction. Because it wasn't even worth it. To convince her to get her lackey's to leave him alone.

Even as he walked though, he couldn't help but think of her, his blood boiling. And why? What because she brought up the fact he wanted to ignore her and she ruined it? Her and her smart ass comments and arrogance and the talent that she had but was still filled with so much potential if she put her passion into it. If only Shae put the passion that she used in fighting with Vince into her music. She'd be incredible.....Not that he cared. The truth was, Vince was irritated that she was that angry that he'd kissed her, because it was just a kiss. She was acting like he'd taken her dignity or something. Definitely not, because he knew for sure that Shae didn't want to kiss him, so dignity? In tact. No need to worry about how she'd tainted herself with Wesson germs.

'Well lookit there, Vince. And to think the Hoffmans couldn't get any worse. They're liars now too. Isn't that just grand? Must be getting worse by the year. Ideas For Character: Possibly the Wife/Husband to a Senator or is closely related to someone of that sort. May get discovered and be executed or something.
Or a famous actor/singer that has strong influence on the public.
RP Example: (view spoiler)[Usually Peyton was a bouncing loud kind of girl. She typically only become collected and serious when she was left alone with her younger siblings. They were much like her when it came to being jumpy and very, very, very energetic and Peyton had come to realize that one would have to stay calm to keep up with all the kids craziness, it saved much of her own energy to keep up with all of them all at once. Not like that was hard for her when she typically moved just as fast all the time. There were always two kinds of people she would need to deal with at work and they would either appreciate the bubbly, excited, and joking Pey/Lily or the professional and prepared Peyton. Sometimes Peyton couldn't tell how to react to someone and would throw them off and wear them out with all her energy or annoy the heck out of them. Either way it was still her, and her charming smile.

Peyton just blinked at first in surprise at her book. Ya there was still an insult in that sentence on her intelligence but it wasn't what she was expecting this girl to say. She laughed to herself at that, she was indeed referring to her as that girl. Hesitating Pey replied, "Sure... I guess. I don't know how to teach something like that though."

Suddenly Peyton noticed a change in the girls eyes. Well, I take back what I said, it seems like she has too, she concluded. Her eyes had become a wicked gleam again. So Peyton prepared for the worse. And....there it was. The rudeness was back suddenly like as if this girl hadn't even just reacted kindly. Pey assumed now that she wouldn't be getting this girl's name anymore any time soon. Peyton tried not to laugh at the odd circumstances and her smile widened. "Why thank you for the compliment, but I don't think the perfume bottles in my room smell like that." Her nose wrinkled in a cringe thinking of dust and what tapeworms could possibly smell like. Key Player: Pretender Princess
Ideas For Character: Her parents disappeared, leaving her to her uncle and aunt who abuse her and at times raped. Which led to pregnancy of a stillborn which caused her much stress but was still forced to basically be a servant. This leads to a condition of Angina (view spoiler)[ Blood doesn't regulate to the heart as it should and with too much physical assertion or stress, it'll slowly kill you. (hide spoiler)]. With everything going on, she knows there's no stopping the disease now and decides to not be as insignificant at the end of her life as it was in the beginning, by helping.

RP Example:
(view spoiler)[ The more time Katherine spent with Peter, the more obvious it became to her that he wasn't one for jokes or any needless teasing. He might put up with it but it didn't look like he particularly enjoyed it. It was becoming more than abundantly clear that she would be marrying someone who was the complete opposite of her. And in this case, it didn't seem to likely for the opposites to attract. After all they were both seeing this as a business deal in a sense, not a marriage that would make them both happy.

Katherine had no doubt in her mind that she had made an impression that would due her good. However she knew now that while she was out of the woods, they were not. They were the future King and Queen of Halian. The people of Halian would be looking towards them for guidance and if they weren't deemed fit then it would be a problem. What most royalty failed to realize was that the common people, even more so than the nobles, were the source of power. Without them there would be no kingdom, without them there was no one to rule, and without them there would be no support to their marriage. For now the nobles got the first look to their time together as a couple, but it wouldn't be too long before they show their "love" in front of the kingdom.

Which is why she did her best to make an impression on the common folk on her way here. Being a Queen was fickly in itself, but her situation was a little more so than normal. After all she was the one coming to a country who hadn't seen her presence in years. She would be starting from the bottom and it was important to build popularity with your people because you would never know when you would need their support. A queen had power but it would be easy for a king to overturn her decisions if she was not backed up. But as she danced with Peter and tried to figure him out, she knew there was at least one thing she would not have to worry about with him. Being under a mistress. It was not rare for a King to take a mistress who would gain more power than the Queen by gaining the King's favor but from the looks of it, Peter would not be doing so. She had to resist a laugh at the thought. The thought of even having to take orders or being outplayed at court by a harlot was funny in itself. The thought becoming reality? Entirely preposterous. She already did not like the thought of having to rule equally with another person but another female who gained influence by sleeping with her husband? She would not hesitate to get the obstacle out of her way.

"A pity, but understandable. We have both known how our lives would turn out as we grew older. Both taking a crown, of course when we used to play together as children, I didn't think that funny Peter would one day be my husband,"Katherine commented. "Running a kingdom isn't something that happens with the snap of a finger, is it?" Even without an answer, they both knew the truth to the statement. "But brushing away from talk that we will surely get to at a more serious time, how is your family? It's been such a long time since I last set foot in here or shared a meal with them. I must admit, I have missed Halian." And in a way she had. Times were easier back then, she didn't have to think about- no. The past was the past and it shall stay there. Before she could even utter the word 'damn' Kat knew she was screwed. Somehow, someway Leo once again manged to alter her plans. She had decided since last year to just ignore him and he would to eventually go away. Yet in the matter of ten minutes he managed to get her tangled up in his crazy web again. Once more they seemed to be stating their dangerous dance of tango again and she knew that there was no stopping it until they hit that final move and the last note of the music fades. Another thing she had already known about both boys actually. As you can imagine being with Leo means a lot of Kale as well. Yet when their relationship ended, her friendship with Kale did as well. However she wasn't exactly sure where the two stood with each other. After all Kale is Leo's best friend, maybe he hated her too.

Okay, even Katrina had to admit that, that one hurt. They had been together for about three to four years and it was her only relationship so, yes as you can imagine it did sting to hear that. From all their arguing she had never taken a shot at their relationship but it seems that now it was a no limits, anything goes. "You're right, it's a mistake, a big mistake, I would never make again,"She replied casually. "Well then I'm glad you got something out of it as well. It would have been a pity that after three years I was the only one who got something. It would only be fair that you benefited from it as well right?" She cocked a brow, before letting the pendant fall from her fingers and back onto his chest. Now backed up against the stage and crushed into Leo, she couldn't help but notice that he was as fit as ever and it didn't help that she didn't have much clothes on to begin with but she didn't let anything show on her face. "It's good to see that my choice in style is still appreciated,"If nothing else was. Her hand ran over his chest and around his neck as if they were in a lover's embrace rather than a game of wits. His/her family was killed when the government switched hands, and has always hated the new regime. Passionate and easily angered, s/he is driven mainly by their loss. This is very much a rough sketch.

Barely five seconds had passed since her stupid little scare, and Juliana once again heard footsteps approaching in the hallway outside. Except this time, they were erratic, angry - they sounded like the steps of someone who had lost something to wild abandon, running down the hall with nothing left except whatever emotion they were carrying with them. And this time, they did not carry on past this doorway, they did not recede into the distance, the clicks of heels on the cool marble did not fade.

The door slammed open.

The girl who entered the room was angry, angry and hurt and full of raw grief and simple wrath. She was pretty, that much was clear, with pale skin and dark hair and dark pink lips, her dress an elegant confection and screaming of fairy tales - Snow White, Snow White, with hair like raven's wings and skin like snow. The phrase floated, unbidden, through Juliana's mind. The royal she was supposed to care of this week, presumably. And in the two seconds it took Juliana to take all of Heather in, Heather had spotted her maid.

"Get out." Simple, direct... Frightening. This girl was wild, a monster, and Juliana's hands shook. She was frozen in place, eyes wide, mouth open, words - stupid, introductory words, phrases that had no meaning, blind, foolish, stupid stupid stupid - words lodged in her throat cutting off her breath, leaving no room for that oxygen essential to rationale and function. Juliana's feet would not move, torn between desires. Run, flee, do as the other girl said, leave this room with Heather's angry eyes and rough, bruising words, get out get out get out. Every muscle strained to do just so. But her mind, the inherent kindness, Juliana's heart - these all strained to comfort the girl that had just fallen to her knees with a contorted face. All the anger had drained from Heather, and in its place was sadness, grief, guilt, all layered one on top of the other like a finely made painting, each new stroke of the paintbrush adding a new hue.

There were tears on Heather's face, smearing the eyeliner and mascara, leaving faintly grey tracks on the girls now pale cheeks.

Juliana's shoes felt glued to the marble. Heather did not move either.

And then Juliana did - stepping forward thoughtlessly, dropping to her knees beside the girl. And then, though her hands still shook, Juliana placed one on the girl's shoulder, trying to offer her what silent support and understanding she could, despite the tremor in her fingers. Despite the wide eyes and the bruises she could still feel from the other girl's anger.

Her heart felt full, and for the first time since her mother had been driven off the road and driven a hole through Cadence's heart. She looked up into his blue eyes, transfixed by their depth. Everywhere he touched her had a pleasurable tingle that slowly faded to comfortable warmth, making her never want to leave his arms. But reality called, and Cadence knew what she had to do. Gently, she pushed on his chest so they were separated, immediately missing his warmth. "I-I'm so sorry, but we can't be together." Cadence stammered, her whole body trembling. A tear slipped down her face as her heart became ripped in half all over again. She felt like she was going to collapse,and her knees were shaking under her body.

Broden raised his eyebrows in pleasurable surprise when Legion revealed herself. It was a sign of trust, and strangely, it pleased him more than he should. The caster told him her name clearly, and a dawn of realization spread across his face. "Legion Balthasar. I have heard many things about you." He stated, watching her facial movements. He noticed her eyes had returned to a lighter shade of violet, which must be a good sign. His lion was scratching at the surface, begging to be let out for some unknown reason and Broden pushed it down, annoyed at his loss of self control. "Broden Vickers, beta shifter." He greeted her, a slight tilt of his lips the only sign of civility. His eyes flashed a darker hue as his lion rose to the surface again, and Broden started getting confused. Refreshing was one way to put it Harrison supposed, though he would have picked a word more along the lines of dismaying. It was nearly impossible not to feel like things would one day go badly for Laurel. His only reassurance was that plenty of people had warned Laurel, and she had still chosen to act the way she did and stay on the path she was on. If things didn't end well, he at least knew that it wasn't due to his lack of warning. "Well, that's good. They're certainly excited to get to talk to you again." He responded, then continued with a slight chuckle. "For months it seems like they've been unable to talk about anything besides how excited they were that you would be at court again." In truth, that had mostly been Laurel, since it wasn't exactly difficult to get her enthusiastic about things, but he imagined that Cassandra was happy about Katherine being here as well. Sometimes it was a little hard to tell exactly what Cassandra thought about things, but he felt confident in guessing that she was excited.

Harrison gave a rather tight-lipped smile, careful to not show his displeasure at that idea. He could guess from her tone that she was intending to make a joke, but even the idea of it bothered him. Elias was someone he could trust, and in a place like this, that wasn't something you took for granted. Even if Katherine was joking, the mere suggestion worried him a little. "I wish you the best of luck in finding those out, then." He said.

"Oh, Majana, right." Harrison replied, an almost admiring look crossing his face. "That was quite an impressive victory." He had been too preoccupied dealing with his father's death at the time to pay much attention to Ilis's conquering of Majana, but learning about it later, it was hard not to be at least a little impressed. Majana hadn't been an insubstantial threat, so the victory was undoubtedly a well-earned one. Harrison had little talent for war strategy, so there might've been a hint of jealousy mixed with his admiration, but he wouldn't acknowledge that. "I'm very happy everything is going well for them. I hope I'll get a chance to see them soon." He said. Just as Katherine hadn't seen his family in quite some time, he hadn't seen her's. From what he could remember of her parents and siblings from the times he had met them, he remembered liking them, and he was certainly interested to see how things had changed. "They will be here to attend the wedding, right?"

The music started to wind down, and he glanced over towards the musicians, realizing they were nearing the end of a song. They would undoubtedly start to play again in just a few moments, but as he noticed a few other couples leaving the dance floor, he took his chance. He dropped his hand from her hand and her waist, taking a short step backwards before giving a respectful slight bow. "Thank you for the dance Katherine, it was lovely." He wasn't necessarily in a hurry to leave, but he had danced with her as was expected, so he didn't feel he had to stick around on the dance floor for more than had been necessary. (hide spoiler)]

Riddle realized he had enough. Watching someone die was boring sometimes, so he stood up, dusted off his clothes and stretched his arms- yawning as he did so. Well, it would be such a shame to let someone with a possible future grudge against him to die so...with his handy quill and the notebook he carries everywhere, he peeled off a page and wrote a massage for anyone to see. Then he walked around, looking for a long stick, found one, and he stuck the message on top of it so it looked like a small sign board.

In the paper, he had written a message that goes like this:

Chaos.

It was amazing. How little time had passed and yet both kingdoms had fallen into complete ruin so quickly. Had he not witnessed it first hand, Adam would never have believed it. And to think, it all started with a simple betrayal of trust. Juliette. She was the reason everything had started. The trial, Adam helping Alexander and Adrian escape to Asrar, the discovery of Allan and Princess Jocelyn's correspondence, the discovery of Stephen's magic.....the way David reacted towards it. Distancing himself from Stephen because Mathias was growing suspicious.

And somehow it had all lead to this. The two kingdom's going to war. Then again, that was probably because most of the people that could have stopped this war were either imprisoned or dead. Jocelyn? Imprisoned. Lord & Lady of Ranier? Executed. Allan? Imprisoned. Alexander? Exile. Juliette couldn't care about anything other than her shoes. It was a complete mess, and the two kingdoms that had once been such close allies were at eachother's throats.

A war.

And somehow through it all, Adam found himself on the battle field. And if he thought back he'd remember volunteering to join the front lines, because what better way to avoid his father's suspicious gaze? What better way to have a chance at talking to Stephen again? God. He had been a fool. Alexander had escaped to Asrar and Adam had felt panicked. So what had he done? Oh that's right. He'd sent that dreadful letter.

The one where he'd basically told Stephen that he was terminating all contact with him. And when after that he burned any letters sent to him without reading them? Until eventually they stopped coming. Because if he had even dared to open one of those letters? His resolve would have crumbled to nothing and he would have caved and done just about anything to get Stephen back.

No wonder people like him went to hell.

But not Stephen. The very idea of Stephen in hell made Adam's gut twist. Because there was no possible way. Stephen was too good for someplace so bad.

As an arrow whizzed by Adam's head, he was pulled from his thoughts and back to the present. Right. He was in the middle of a battle. It was just pure luck that the arrow hadn't struck Adam, and thankfully? Well Adam knew battles. Fighting was something he was good at. It was mindless and emotionless and he could easily do it.

So why did his sword feel so heavy in his hand? Why was he having such a hard time striking down the men that were attacking? Was it really because they were part of his kingdom?

It was then that something dawned upon Adam. He had to get to Stephen. This was a war. And that meant that Stephen could be here.

And with that hopeful thought in his mind, Adam slid off his horse, slapping her hide and sending Maple bolting, scatting battles in her wake as she fled the battle. She would no doubt return home. Good. At least she would be safe there.

But now? To the task at hand.

Drawing his sword, the blonde prince found himself parrying blows, kicking his enemies back before he'd press onwards. Pressing deeper and deeper into the swarm of Asrar's forces. Fighting was second nature to Adam, so deflecting the blows of soldiers was a simple task, one that allowed his eyes to scan the battlefield for the one person he was both hoping to see, and hoping wouldn't be there.

Because if he was there? It would be dangerous. And the last thing Adam wanted was his beloved to be in danger.

And yes. There it was. The truth. He was absolutely irrevocably in love with Stephen Hanfad. And if he was being absolutely truthful? He'd been in love with him ever since the moment he first laid eyes on him. A true fairy tale moment, because Adam knew right then and there. He'd caught sight of Stephen and he'd just known. Of course....he'd also assumed Stephen was straight. So it had taken a long time before he'd worked up the courage to pursue anything akin to friendship with the crown prince.

And now? Now he was going through an army just on the hopes that he might see him.

It was dangerous though, letting his body react while his mind was distracted. Why? Well because of that Adam found himself staring at the very person he'd been looking for. Except Stephen was standing there with Adam's sword against his throat. And Adam had been seconds away from slaughtering the one person who still meant anything to him.

God.

There he was. Those bright eyes, dark hair that was slightly plastered to his head from the sweat of the battle, and those lips parted in a look of surprise. As if he hadn't been expecting to run into Adam on the field. God. Those lips. Was he a sinner for wanting to do nothing more than kiss those soft lips?

For a moment Adam could focus on nothing else. It was like the battle had suddenly ceased around them. His eyes were only on Stephen, his blood pumping throughout his body was the only thing he could hear, and for a moment he just stood there, frozen. But that moment didn't last long, and in the next moment, Adam lowered his sword as a smile pulled at his lips and he parted his lips to tell Stephen how sorry he was. To beg for his forgiveness.

But it never happened.

Because all the air left Adam's lungs as pain suddenly shot through his body. The sword in his hand dropped, clattering on the ground, the sound lost among the noise of the battle. Adam could only look down in a look of surprise as the steel that had punctured his body was removed. Someone had stabbed him with a sword, attacking the more delicate chain-mail and slicing upwards under his ribs.

He'd allowed himself to be distracted. And now?

Collapsing to his knees, Adam could already feel himself slipping away. Instinctively he pressed his hand to the wound as if his hand could somehow hold in the blood that was draining from his body.

But somehow? Somehow it was okay. Because the pain was already fading. And it was then Adam realized someone's arms had wrapped around him, helping to hold him up. Maybe they were a healer. Maybe he would be okay.

But when he looked up to the face of his holder, he was met with those familiar eyes. Eyes he had gotten lost in countless times. And he knew then that it didn't matter if he was okay. Because the one person he loved more than anything in the world, was suffering. Adam could see it in his eyes.

And that wasn't okay.

"Stop- Talking." Just pushing the words out was a struggle, and yet Adam had to say them. Stephen was saying something, blabbering, no doubt about getting him help and how everything was going to be okay. Adam knew those words. He'd delivered them himself to his own dying comrades. He didn't need to hear them from Stephen, because he knew what they were. They were lies. A last attempt to comfort the dying.

But now that he was dying? Adam knew they weren't for the dying. They were an attempt to soothe the living. And thankfully? Stephen listened to him.

Funny. His Stephen, born with an ability to persuade others to listen to him, and yet the only person Stephen ever fell silent for, ever listened to was Adam himself. Funny, how those things worked huh? The very thought pulled a smile on Adam's lips. Lips he could hardly even feel.

But he had to get this out.

Even as darkness crept on his vision.

His last sight would be of his beloved.

"I'm sorry..."

Because it would be cruel to say he loved him. Hopefully Stephen would already know that. But he needed to know that Adam was sorry. Sorry for the letter. Sorry he was leaving him behind. Sorry they couldn't have a happy ending.
