I hope your week is going well and that you’re making solid progress in your reading goals! I thought we could check in on those goals as we move into the second half of the event.

A few questions for you:
What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
What is your favorite book so far?
How's your team and individual challenges going?
What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?

Now is a great time to update your threads - The ATY Community Spreadsheet, The Individual Challenge, and Miles of Pages!

So far the main challenge is that, as expected, it's a busy week and I have a lot to do. I finished off The Five: The Untold Lives of the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper which I loved, and now I'm dabbling about in couple other things. Hoping to finish my current audiobook and maybe one more book after that!

RachelG. My favorite books so far have been The Dark Side of the Road and Alice Cooper, Golf Monster: A Rock 'n' Roller's 12 Steps to Becoming a Golf Addict. Both were great! I finished my individual challenge and now I don't know what to read next. Our team challenge is going very well as far as filling prompts so I don't have anything I need to focus on next to help move me in a reading direction.

Thank goodness for audiobooks! I have been able to listen to a book at work Monday through Wednesday so far and I plan to continue with a mix of audiobooks and ebooks during the day for the rest of the read-a-thon.

Roxana (luminate) | 773 comments Most of the books I've finished so far during this week have been rereads of things I've read several times before, so favorite book so far is a bit hard to choose. But I did read Olga Dies Dreaming, which is for a book club so I might not have otherwise picked it up, and I liked it a lot!

Not too many challenges or distractions so far, just a pretty lowkey average week in my life. I'm spending Friday at a museum and theatre for my birthday, so that'll probably be a lower-reading day for me, ha, but otherwise, lots of reading time this week! I've finished 5 books so far during the readathon and hoping to finish another two tonight, one audiobook and one print, so I'll be well on track for my plans/goals for the readathon - I'd like to finish 9 books total, and a few specific ones: The War Girls, Gallant, The Bequest, and The Two Doctors Górski. Should be doable - War Girls and The Bequest I'm already in the middle of, Gallant will be a fast read, and The Two Doctors Gorski is a novella so should also be a fast read.

LeahS | 1369 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?

Being on holiday for a week - I got quite a lot read, but couldn't get to the library to order in the next few. However, I found two books for the readathon in a second hand bookshop.

What is your favorite book so far?

I've enjoyed everything I've read so far, except for Apricot Jam and Other Stories which had some really interesting parts, but was quite hard going. I've just read and enjoyed The Nowhere City for the 'falling for you' prompt.

How's your team and individual challenges going?
I'm not doing the team challenge. I've read four books for my entry to the individual challenge draw and should finish my fifth today.

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
Making it to the challenge draw.

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
To read as many books as possible before the 19th!

°~Amy~° (amybooksit) What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
Just a general little slump, and another broken toe, no biggie lol The slump bit is just having difficulty liking any book I pick up. I have had three so far that bored me and got set aside. The broken toe.....well, someday I will learn to wear shoes. That day was not last week when I turned around in the dark and kicked a very sturdy wooden tripod (two toes on my right foot) NOR was it this week when I dropped the very heavy cover off the cat food can onto the second toe of my other foot. And probably not today when I went in to give my bf a peck on the cheek and kicked him in the boot with the freshly broken toe. I could cry. Good thing I don't need toes to read!

What is your favorite book so far?
A Little Princess

How's your team and individual challenges going?
I have completed a lot of prompts for both so overall, it's going well

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
I completed the four prompts for the contest plus one other prompt on the individual challenge so far.
A Little Princess, The Lost Gargoyle of Paris, What If? Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions, Just So Stories and The Wolf's Trail: An Ojibwe Story, Told by Wolves

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
I'm not really sure. I had a plan when the week started but it's gotten derailed by boring books and a serious lack of audiobooks. I'm not sure why my original plan was 90% ebooks. I'm scouring Cloudlibrary for short audios to fill up the rest of the work week.

Kathy E | 3319 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
Work, sleep, TV

What is your favorite book so far?
The Woman on the Orient Express by Lindsay Jayne Ashford. It's biographical fiction about Agatha Christie. I loved it.

How's your team and individual challenges going?
Team Cranberry is doing well! I finished the individual challenge but am still working on it.

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
I've finished 7 books, 4 were fairy short. I'm doing a lot of audio this Readathon.

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
Finish The Cat Who Smelled a Rat, As Close As Sisters and Treasure Island.

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3268 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
For some reason, I've just been exhausted this week so I've had a couple of days where I really didn't read very much.

What is your favorite book so far?
I've only read one fully during the read-a-thon, and one that I'd been 2/3 of the way through before the start, so it doesn't quite seem fair to choose.

How's your team and individual challenges going?
Individual - not great, but I'll definitely be able to finish 4 books since I'm expecting to listen to a full audiobook on Saturday

Team - great as far as I can tell. I'm awful with spreadsheets, and I've only really been able to check in right as I'm about to go to bed, but seems like things are going well

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
Just one book read all the way through during the readathon, but it was one of my most anticipated books of the year

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
Try to finish at least 2 more books
