Just so you all know - Netflix is showing the Lord of the Rings movies on there. Not sure if everyone can watch them as I have heard in the past that Netflix is regional so not sure how true that is but they are playing on there.

Also LOTR: Return of the King is returning to the theatres in April for the 20th anniversary of the films.

All the LOTR books are on sale on Amazon for a limited time too. Each one is $2.99. :) It also seems they are back on KU for a limited time as well.

Yes that too but they are getting ready for that theatre release too in April in the U.S. and in Canada as well marking the 20th anniversary.

I wonder if anyone has tried doing midnight viewings of LOTR, like Rocky Horror Picture Show. They could charge a bit extra, then have costume contests and such

That is awesome! :)

I am trying to figure out why they are only doing Return of the King over here but not doing all three movies. They should do all three of them at the theatres as I think they would really rake it in with people that are already fans and they would probably pick up new fans as well.

Does anyone know when season two of Rings of Power is coming this year? Will it be around the same time as it was last year?

message 113: by Marie, Coffee-Chocolate-Book Lover (new)

Well I found out that since the writer's strike put a dent in a lot of movies and tv then we won't be seeing Rings of Power season two till sometime in 2024. Bummer.

Real sad for sure as I was so ready to wanting to watch it this year - now we have to wait who knows how long now - sometime next year could be early, middle or late. Now I will probably have to do a refresh by that time. lol

So the new season of LOTR will be coming soon. I think they said something about this summer. Looking forward to it! :)

message 124: by J. (new)

J. Gowin | 2575 comments I wonder what they'll use from the appendixes to make season 2.

1.) The Blue Wizards buggering off into the East, never to be seen again.
2.) Saruman the White cornering the pipe weed market by buying up all of that good stuff from the Shire.
3.) That time when Radagast and Tom Bombadil ate ALL the shrooms.

What do you think?

With Peter Jackson at the helm it should be a great one. I agree with Krystal - I would trust anything he produces especially doing another LOTR movie. :)

Okay - so I have been watching season 2. Personally it has been very entertaining. I need to watch the final episode though yet which I am planning on doing that tonight.

What is everyone's thoughts so far on what has happened with season 2. Do you all feel that season 2 has gone the way you expected it to?

I am posting spoilers so don't read them unless you have watched the full episodes of season 2. :)

I finished watching season 2 and really looking forward to season 3.

Does anyone have any thoughts on season 2?

A lot of things came together in season 2 and it shows (view spoiler)

All in all I think season 2 was exciting and many things were revealed that makes me want season 3 to hurry up. lol

I'll still get to it soon but every time I consider sitting down to start watching, I think, 'not today.'

Just do it in small sections Krystal. Season 2 is a little more exciting if that will help you. lol

Season 1 was more of a world building - character building season.

Like with any fantasy stories even in books - book one is always world building - the second book would start slowly moving faster with more action scenes.

That is sort of what is happening here with the season two - more action - more things going on. :)
